Inevitable "where's My Restriction?!?!" Freak Out Post
christin replied to Tenshi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had zero problems with liquids. I feel like I could drink all day and night. I don't (just what is required) and I am not physically hungry, but no real restriction. I am looking forward to starting solids on Monday to see what that will feel like!! -
Overly Full On Phase 2 Foods. How Do You Get Your Protein?
christin replied to Kareforme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the unjury unfavored Protein powder mixed with Nestea boysenberry green tea. Feels more like I am drinking Fluid instead of a Protein shake and I get 20 grams of protein and only 80 calories. You can also use the unflavored protein powder in a warm Soup if you want. -

HELP, what's the difference between a 32 and 44 bougie?
christin replied to ChunkyAndFluffy75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon used a 34, but this thread was very informative. I didn't realize they were all so close in size! -

Post-Op Vitamins & Weight Loss
christin replied to lookingahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc told me calcium helps in the flushing out of fat cells, but I don't know about the rest of the vitamins. I can't stand the bariatric advantage vitamins either. They almost disgust me, but I am getting used to them. I take them anyway. -
I am using unjury whey Protein powder. My surgeon's office recommends it. I like the chocolate and vanilla and they also have an unflavored powder that I can mix in with my crystal light or iced tea. The unflavored powder thickens the drink slightly, but it doesn't mess up the taste. It makes it easier to stay hydrated and get in an extra 20g protein at the same time. I also have one greek yogurt a day. I like the Oikos vanilla and key lime pie flavors. They have about 12g protein in each yogurt. I am also having the burping issue. I have to sip on my Protein shakes over the period of about an hour sometimes. I mixed a few strawberries in my vanilla one a few hours ago and it made it all foamy on top and that foamy stuff felt like it was in my throat! I waited for it to die down before I drank the rest. Don't worry about complaining... this is a huge change! It is taking me awhile to get in the groove of all the Vitamins etc. too. I think it will get easier every day and we will learn more about our new sleeve and its sensations and preferences. Hang in there!

I have been mostly pain free since about day 4. I had that nagging left shoulder pain off and on also, but it finally disappeared 2 days ago. So sorry you are still in so much pain. I'm not sure how normal that is, but it hasn't been my experience. Hopefully others will be able to relate. I just wanted to wish you well and congrats on the 22 lbs!

I get a little tired in the afternoons, but generally I feel good at 2 weeks out. I have come very close to meeting both protein and liquid goals every day and I am sure that is helping. Do your best and I hope the B12 will help. Our bodies are in shock and need to get used to their new normal I think.

My Incisions Are Worrisom
christin replied to Tinette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That would make me a little nervous too. Seems like they would heal better closed. Wonder if they can use some kind of glue instead of stitches? I had the glue on my bellybutton incision and it is healing closed. I would at least ask. Don't want infection. -
6 Days Post Op And Having Diarrhea Issues
christin replied to emvanveelen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep.. can relate! It is getting better, but it has been an interesting 2 weeks. -
I plan to watch protein grams and calories once I introduce food again. By default that should limit my carbs, but I am not going to track those. No processed food for me, but healthy complex carbs I won't be concerned with.

Absolutely The Worst Experience
christin replied to PreciousCargo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have regret, but I certainly can relate to the nausea for the first 24 hrs after my surgery. Dry heaving is the absolute worst. I was miserable! Once that subsided, things started getting better each day. 14 days out and I am feeling really good, so hang in there! -
Best wishes for a problem free surgery and a speedy recovery! See you on the other side!

Mt Family Just Brough Home A Large Pizza
christin replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sat through a meal at Panera Bread and chips and salsa from Chili's with my daughter. Both of those were fine. However, when she popped popcorn in the house I had to go for a walk. The smell was killing me! Thank God I only have one more week of liquids.... -
Someone Explain This To Me..
christin replied to justkeepsmiling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didn't have a drain. I was glad about that although it seems pretty common from the posts here. -
"cheating" (A Concern)
christin replied to Indymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't cried yet, but definitely a little frustrating. I am definitely battling cravings and head hunger. The only good news is that I have no physical hunger. That is the only reason I am able to stay on track. I think if my stomach growled like it used to I would be a goner! -
Back in the hospital.....a-freakin-gain
christin replied to imawhodat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow.. so sorry you are struggling with dehydration. Makes me realize how important my fluids are. I hope that is the last hospital visit you will have and that you will feel much better soon! -
Day 4 Post-Op And Need Some Reassurance...
christin replied to Mel34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only incision is on my belly button area and I got that feeling every time I sat up in bed or got up to walk somewhere. Now at 13 days out, the incision is looking amazingly better and I don't feel any more tenderness. Hang in there! -
I know what you mean. I had a bunch of gurgling/burping/discomfort when I drank the first week even with small sips. This week I accidentally took a huge sip after exercising and it went down just fine. I am so relieved because I am constantly thirsty and it was hard to quench the thirst with tiny sips. I am also relieved that my sleeve tolerates cold drinks just fine because I love ice cold drinks!
