Sleeping Habits Questions...
christin replied to Darla5060's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept fine at night and took no naps until week 4. Last week and this week I am fairly exhausted all of a sudden. I don't know why, but I just go with it. If I am tired, then I sleep. I just figure my body needs it. It probably has a lot to do with going back to work. -
This is definitely something I will try when I get down the road a little. They sound amazing!

Lots Of Energy Until Starting Solid Food. Now Exhausted. Is This Normal?
christin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had all the energy in the world during week 2 and 3 while still in my liquid phase. I was exercising every day, etc. Now that I started on solid food this week, I feel tired all the time and have had to nap almost daily. Anyone else experience this? Doesn't really make sense to me. So glad I am telecommuting for a few more weeks so I am able to nap. I think I would be in bad shape without them. -

Hope you got some Super Bowl food down! I agree ... we will get through it! It's just part of the process! -

I Had A Cup Of Coffee...feeling Horrible
christin replied to rahnava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also was not allowed caffeine for a month. Just tried a cup a few days ago and no longer like it. That was a shock! -
Restriction & Amount Of Food Tolerated
christin replied to MzPecanBrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my first full week of real food and I have been shocked at how little my stomach holds. It has been very emotional and frustrating to me for some strange reason. I totally agree about eating now being a chore. I didn't even come close to my Protein goals this week. I have decided to start supplementing with Protein shakes until I can get enough food down. This is exactly what I wished for before surgery, but it is still a little difficult to adjust to mentally for some reason. -
Love those bento boxes!! I might have to get one of those!

I was just having these same thoughts today. To be honest, I have a little frustration and sadness about it. I used to really love that full feeling in my belly after a subway turkey sub or a big bowl of homemade salad with lots of ranch dressing. Now I just stare at my food and feel like I could take it or leave it. I get full so fast that I don't feel any satisfaction from what I am eating. While I enjoy the weight loss, I guess I am mourning the way it used to be a little bit. This new normal really takes some getting used to.

Are You Telling People That Your Having This Surgery?
christin replied to kcsmicah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told about 6 close people around me. It isn't that I don't want to share what I did, I just don't want everyone watching what I eat and constantly asking how much I have lost. I felt that would put additional pressure on me while I am already learning how to handle a whole new life. I am really glad I chose to do things that way. Once I am farther out and have lost considerable weight, I will decide if I want to share with more people. I think I probably will. -
Omg Got Sleeved Monday An I Am In So Much Pain
christin replied to chigga77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Definitely take advantage of your pain meds. It took a good 2 weeks before I knew my gas was totally gone. Walking also helps the gas work itself out faster. I promise it will get better. Hang in there! -
Time Of The Month *ladies, Please Read*
christin replied to Mel34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had my period on week 2. I gained a few lbs right before it started and by the time it was over, I still had a 3 lb loss for the week. Just be patient. It will drop. -
Back In The Hospital

Get well soon! The food commercials used to be agonizing, but I barely notice them after 3 weeks. -
Just Got Some Bad News...i Need A Pick Me Up!
christin replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just saw this thread. I am sure this news was difficult to process and I am so sorry you have to deal with this. The good news is that it will be so much easier for you to battle this now that you are at a healthy weight! A few years back my cholesterol started climbing a bit for the first time and I decided just to walk on the treadmill. After a few months of doing only that, my numbers improved drastically. Just find something you enjoy doing so that you will be able to stick with it. I know you can beat this after all you have already accomplished! -
Are You Feeling Deprived?
christin replied to Suzannesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a really great post. At 3 weeks out, I don't feel deprived. I have felt a bit overwhelmed at times because of how everything has changed forever. Each day I am getting more and more used to my new "normal". I can imagine at your stage it probably feels really comfortable. I was the same starting weight as you and I would love to be just as successful! -
A Sudden End To Food Funerals
christin replied to Bedhead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is exactly how it happened for me. Suddenly, about 2 weeks from surgery a switch went off and I ate well from that point forward. I did liquids for the few days before surgery even though it wasn't required by my surgeon. It felt good going into surgery staying the same weight for the entire month of December. Mentally it would have messed with me if I had gained. But trust me... it is all different after surgery. Eating too much is the last thing on my mind. Life has changed and it will for you too. -
My New Full Signal
christin replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was my first day eating real food and it did feel good to have a warm satisfied kind of feeling which I never had with liquids. I have to admit that I pretty much stopped eating when I was just bored of it! It took so long to get 2 ounces of tuna fish down that I finally just put it away! I used to wolf down food. I finally realize what a difference this surgery has made. I guess it will take me some time to truly determine what full feels like. Right now I am just being very careful not to overeat. -
Anyone Self Pay For Lapband Who Is Trying To Get It Removed With Insurance?
christin replied to FXDF2008's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry this is happening to you. When I was deciding between the band and the sleeve, this is exactly the situation that I feared as a self pay patient. I have BCBS, but my company has a WLS exclusion. I am amazed at how many people have complications down the road with the band. It makes me so grateful I learned about the sleeve during my research process. I truly hope you can get a removal covered. It is disgusting when insurance companies play these games with people. Keep on fighting! -
A Litte Discouraged...
christin replied to alexeleni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also stayed the same for 5 days in week two. It was my time of the month, so I didn't sweat it. Then I dropped 3 lbs overnight about 2 days into my cycle. I'm not going to let that little thing on the floor play head games with me. I am doing the right things and the weight will come off when it wants to. -
So Very Frustrated!
christin replied to fell4falls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started real food today as well (yay!!). My surgeon told me to prepare to lose little or even nothing for the next 2 weeks. I hope that isn't the case, but I have prepared myself mentally. I just find it so interesting how the body works and how everyone releases weight at a different pace and at a different schedule. -

Post-Surgical Diet: Torture.
christin replied to Writergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on liquids for 3 weeks and even though I tolerate the Protein shakes fine, I am just sick of them. I have made a few Soups over the last week... cream of potato and tomato. I add 2 servings of skim milk instead of Water for extra protein and also some unflavored Protein Powder. I made sure it was not too thick for me to tolerate. I got about 3 servings out of one soup can. I used an immersion blender to puree the few chunks in the cream of potato (or you can just avoid eating them). For milk.. soy milk doesn't taste good to me either. You could possibly try rice milk or almond milk instead. They taste better to me personally. For Fluid I have done several things... Powerade zero, diet lipton green tea with citrus, and water with a few drops of mio liquid Water Enhancer. Hope you start feeling better soon. I only had stomach acid once since I take prilosec every day, but it was not fun! -
Awesome! Wishes for a speedy recovery and welcome to the other side!
