when is it ok to drink alchohol?
KateMarie replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. said 6 months. -
I regreted my surgery for the first 4 weeks. Hang in there, I promise it gets better. I was required to stay on 3 Protein drinks and 2 yogurts a day for the first 4 weeks. I stoppped losing weight because I couldn't force down half of that and was in starvation mode. The thought of eating made me want to barf. I am now using EAS CarbControl drinks. They have 17 grams of protein. I drink about 2 a day. It takes me over an hour to drink one but I force myself to. I am also chewing two gummie adult multi vitimens a day. Can use switch to gummies? They might be easier on the stomach. What type of diet does the dr having you doing?

I'm 5 weeks out and struggle with liquids too. PreOp, I drank a ton of water all day. Now, I just can't stomach it. I do try to sip all day. I pour a protien drink in a glass with ice and drink it all day. At 5 weeks, I don't get hungry and force myself to eat/drink. What's a 'pissy pouch'? What are the meds for? Sorry if I'm too noisy. :-)

Shalon: I was stalled until I added more calories. With my drs. plan, I was under 400 a day. My body was in starvation mode. Are you eating enough? I aim for 600 a day. I do watch the sugar.
-
They say the 'Stall' is normal but that didn't make me less mad about it.

When you started eating normal foods, how much?
KateMarie replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No Dietary Restrictions? Wow! I was on full liquids of 3 Protein drinks and 2 yogurts for the first four weeks. Today is 5 weeks exactly Post Op. I'm on one mushy meal a day. I'm at about 500-600 calories a day. Once back on 'regular' food, I am not to go over 700 calories. No red meat for 3-6 months because it's hard to digest. Are you seeing a nutristionist? How many calories a day are you consuming? What's your average 'food' day? -
I was sleeved 9/13. I lost 19lbs on the 2 week preop liquids and have lost 23.5 post op..It's 5 weeks today. At day 11 and an 11lbs loss, I stalled. Since then, it's been slow. I immediately regret the surgery. I was on liquids only for 4 weeks post op...how was I not losing weight???? Now, I have come to accept that it will be a slow process. I may have slowed down from the 1lbs a day but I have lost an average of 4.5 lbs a week since surgery. I've also learned not to compare my weight loss to any one elses. We don't gain the same way, we don't lose the same way. Also, don't weigh yourself every day. That killed me! I wait at least 2 days inbetween weigh ins. This isn't easy...that is for sure! Good Luck.

How much did you lose?

I am 25 days post op. I lost 18lbs preop, 11lbs by 11 days postop and then bam... Stalled. I've lost 1.5lbs in 2 weeks. Totally disappointed. -

Dear 3 week stall..
KateMarie replied to itscometothis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The stall can kiss by butt too. 17 days post op and haven't lost a lbs since day 11. RRR!!! -
two weeks out- what is everyone eating?
KateMarie replied to Pinkbetty's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm going through the same thing. I lost 18 preop, 11 the first week and 1 single little lbs since. How discouraging. I do think it has to do with too little calories and not enough liquids. -
I am really amazed at the differences in dietary timelines.
KateMarie replied to ItsTheSleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
For 2 weeks pre and 4 weeks post op, my dr requires 3 protien drinks / 2 yogurts a day. I think he does this because he sells us the pricey drinks. At 4 weeks post op, we are to switch to 2 drinks and one mushy meal until we reach our goal. Then 1 drink daily for maintenance. I am 16 days post op. I stopped losing weight on day 11. I am very disappointed. They say a 3 week stall is normal but after 11 days and under 500 calories? -
Frustrated-please help me understand
KateMarie replied to happyevraftr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 'three week stall' started at day 10 after surgery. My diet is supposed to consists of 3 protein shakes/2 yogurts for 4 weeks post op. I'm not breaking 500 calories a day. I lost more the 2 weeks before surgery than I have after the 2 weeks after. I really hope this stall ends soon. I've very discouraged. -
2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!
KateMarie replied to DreamLife36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Melissa: i am stalled too. 18lbs pre op. 11lbs aftwr but not an ounce since Thursday. It's so discouraging. I'm on the same diet that I was preop...3 protein shakes and 2 yogurts. It's so discouraging when I'm on strict liquids and not losing. I have two more weeks of this diet too. I think he does the 6 weeks of shakes because he sellS his own special shake. It's so gross too! I'm also trying to force the shakes down. I'm not hungry and worry about the same thing...be right back were I was. Let's hope for a good week and a few lbs! -

Melissa, We talked before...our surgeries were the same day. What is your post op diet? are you eating enough? -
I guess I'm at a stall
KateMarie replied to tamareta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone. Tomorrow, I will be 2 weeks post op and I haven't seen the scale move in 4 days. My body has to be in shock or something. This is so discouraging. -
2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!
KateMarie replied to DreamLife36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op and the scale hasn't moved in four days. Not an ounce. I immediately had that feeling of failure that came with every old diet attempt over the past 20 years. I'm fighting tears as I write this because I am really hoping that I didn't put my body (and bank account) through all of this to fail yet again. I'm on a 4 week post op diet of 3 Protein shakes and 2 fat free yogurts. I usually get down 2 shakes and 2 yogurts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -
I'm only 11 days post op but looking forward to food again. I was required to do a 2 week pre op liquid diet of 3 Protein shakes and 2 yogurts. Now, after surgery, the surgeon told me today for the best weight loss results, he asks his patients to stay on that diet for 4 more weeks. Here's the catch....he pushes his 'special' expensive Protein powder. What was everyone eating at 2 weeks out? 3? 4? If it's best for my body, then ok. But if he is just trying to push his drink, I would like to start adding things into my diet at 2 weeks...maybe pureed cottage cheese Any thoughts?
-
Did you have to do a preop diet? You won't want much when you come home. I'm 11 days post op. This is the diet I did for 2 week prior to surgery and am on for 4 weeks after. It's very limited and boring. I had my first checkup today and was hoping he would move me to 'mushys'. Nope. Blah! He did give me recipes on mixing the Protein shakes with coffee for a 'latte' type of drink. Also, he suggested flavoring the vanilla Protein drinks with the crystal light or sugar free tang. Good Luck with the surgery. :-)

12 Days Post Op and No Problems
KateMarie replied to dallasmom4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am five days post op. I had severe nausua and pain issues after and was in for three days. I'm doing well now. I am not taking the pain meds either. I was pretty swollen after surgery so tomorrow will be my first big weigh in. I'm on the Full liquid for four weeks. This consist of 3 protien shakes, 2 yogarts and 2 jellos. I have yet to get a whole shake down in a single day. Yesterday, I only had about 140 calories. My sister noticed that I have black bags around my eyes.I'm looking forward to cottage cheese and sugar free pudding. Congradultions on your loss! Keep up the great work. -
Good luck Melissa. Tomorrow is my surgery too. I'm so excited but so scared! quote name='MelissaG' timestamp='1315880864' post='207010'] Thanks for thinking of me. Hows your Protein going. My headache has gone away, and tomorrow is the big day. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'll be thinking of all you guysand praying for you also.

Emotion Overload!!!!
KateMarie replied to lisajxoxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tuesday 9/13. I am terrified that I am doing the wrong thing. My stomach is so nervous that I'm afraid that I might vomit. I too question why I can't do this on my own. Why do I need to do this to my body? Why can't I control myself? Should I try one last time? If I can do the liquids for two weeks, why can't I stick to other diets? Well, I've done the 'one last time' weekly for about 20 years. I'm going to keep checking back to this site just to read the success stories to encourage me to keep going. Good luck on your journey. -
Surgery is tomorrow!
KateMarie replied to DallasMomofTwins's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Now this is what I like to see! After reading too many horror stories about recovery, I am relieved to see that you are doing so well. My surgery is Tuesday 9/13. I don't have my time yet but I am a nervous wreck.
