I ate chips and half a bagel. I'm worried!

You all make me feel so much better!! I'm about 5 1/2 weeks out from surgery & have been worried that I haven't had issues with ANY food so far!! I always eat my proteins first, but still seem to save room for a bite of something "bad". I get so worried that I'm going to be the one that stretches out my stomach before the surgery has a chance to work---but I still know I'm eating a fraction of what I used to!!! It's so scary sometimes--I'm trying to under eat for my sleeve & avoid that bloated, over full feeling--I'm also working on the mental part....harder than what I'd imagined. Thanks to all who take the time to post & help us newbees out!
  2. I got sleeved 8/15. I was a 3x, which was getting tighter. I now can wear a 1x & have gone from a size 24 to a 20. It DOES work & I believe I'll be out of the plus size dept before I know it. But, it's not magic--still takes work--mentally & physically Have faith, there's lots of support out there....Try & be proud of who you are & focus less on what you look like--sounds like you have a beautiful daughter to be proud of as well. Whatever your decision--I wish you a happy, healthy life!

    weight loss stall

Nice to know I'm not alone. I got sleeved 8/15, I've lost 29lbs, but the last 2 weeks, I've really been stalled...the scale has barely moved & occasionally gone up a pound, then down. I was getting frustrated & wondering what I was doing wrong.....I think we're all so used to failure with weight loss, we automatically think it's our fault. I will be patient & TRY not to look at the scale every day
  4. Congratulations!!! I'm 52 & just starting my journey--got sleeved 8/15/11.....you give me great hope for success. Early on, did you measure all of your portions, or just eat small portions until you felt full?? I'm still on soft/pureed foods & am worried that i'm not having any issues. Thanks for any suggestions you have for a fellow senior sleever!

    So confused about insurance.

I have Cigna---after I had been through the whole 6 months, I called Cigna & a rep told me my coverage did NOT include bariatric surgery!!! I was devastated---but I called a rep in our Human Resources who spoke to Cigna & told me I was covered & if I have any problems, call her & she'll get answers for me--so my suggestion, if your insurance is through your work, is to call your HR dept & let them weed through the mess! Good luck!!!
  6. Hi all, I had my sleeve surgery 8/15/11 by Dr. Chae @ Skyridge Medical in CO. Pre-Op weight was 265lb. I'm currently at 248lb. I have had no issues at all. I feel great & have been eating a pureed diet since thursday! I'm trying to get enough Water & Protein in every day. I'm excited for this journey & like many of you worried about the emotional part. I also was an emotional eater & a volume eater--didn't seem to know when to say enough:) How did you all keep from pushing the envelope & eating things in the next level? I'm so grateful that I haven't had any problems, but almost wish I had a few issues as I've been tolerating everything without any problems....I don't want to fail at this. Thanks!

    2 weeks post op questions

thanks for the great suggestions! I appreciate it & will follow them. I am still on the mushy foods--I try & do scrambled eggs for the Proteins, but mashed potatoes sure taste good I'm really going to focus on measuring my portions...I do think that will be an important step & I think I have to step up my Protein intake. I'll keep you posted. thanks for the encouragement

    2 weeks post op questions

Sounds like we're on the same road at the same time. I'm 52, my daughter just turned 30--on Aug 17th! I wish this surgery had been around when I was 30! but I'm grateful for it now. I haven't done the lunch meat, but I have had cooked veggies & tuna. I think I'm going to try to be better at measuring my food instead of eyeballing it. My nutritionist also suggested using a baby spoon to eat slower...I do seem to feel the fullness easier when I measure & eat slower. It will be fun tracking our success. I know we'll have fun sharing our success stories!

two weeks out- what is everyone eating?

I'm 2 weeks out as well. I also have issues if I eat too fast. Try getting a baby spoon & eating with that. Definitely slows you down, I've been eating scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes & soup, Going to try cottage cheese tomorrow. Good luck!
