Good to hear Bec is safely on the sleeved side.
Cath, I hope the doctors tests have come back ok...
mzbkt, it is definitely stressful pre-op,being so concerned about what life after surgery is like, am I making the right decision. But you are best off giving yourself the best opportunity for a healthy and quick recovery.
I had my first plastics consult today. It was interesting but I am not sure about the surgeon. Seems to be a paint by numbers kind of doctor which I am not sure I am happy with. Also need to see how much, if any is covered by my health fund.
He did say that he would expect that he would remove between 7-9kgs of skin, excess fat etc. Also that there is really not much more for my body to loose and it is ready for it to be gone. I would get a Tummy Tuck with some Lipo on my hips to even out, and arm lift with some upper body toning (no bra fat lumps).
This would be almost a 6 hour procedure, depending on my cover anywhere between ($15 - $27k..yikes). Tho I think I will look at another surgeon and see if I feel more comfortable, I felt this way with the first doctor I saw for wls and then found my surgeon who I felt comfortable in his hands...ya know...and this is my forever body.

I really appreciate that the "oldies" stick around and answer all the newbie questions over and over. This is a great thread!
Pre-sleeve I would have a huge problem actually packing a lunch (too easy to eat out) and then making myself eat it if I did pack it (too boring). The sleeve has already saved me so much money on eating-out costs! I have not been out at all since surgery and probably won't for a while. It seems like such a waste of money!
    I txted Bec good wishes.

    Good luck tomorrow Bec!
Cathy- you should get checked out ASAP- please do, just in case.
Had a NSV that cracked me up- was told to get rid of my "fat" clothes today - I was wearing a size 18 bwahahaha - if they only knew
Hope you're all well! Cheers Liss

Lessismore, Exactly!!! I had absolutely no co-morbids before surgery (other than persistent sporting injuries, yes they were I am sure contributed by my weight, but I was exercising lol)...the weird thing is since surgery I have had more issues that before I lost all my weight...4 surgeries and counting lol. Go figure on that one health providers lol

I missed the story but have seen that alot of people were not happy about it.
I dont think it is just the media but we as Aussies are harder on overweight people than anything...especially when it comes to medical professionals. Any health issue that I had the first response was loose some weight, got the flu, loose some weight, yes I may sound a bit jaded. Which in most cases that issue had nothing to do with being overweight..I went to see a specialist for another issue yesterday (and will have surgery again later today...whirlwind..anyways) but most my conversation centered around the fact that I had had the sleeve and the weight I had lost, rather than the issue I went to see him about.
I think of how society treats overweight people and it makes me sick...(rant over)

This last little bit of weight loss is weird. It's shown me how fickle your body is.
The last 10 weeks I've had .5 kilo loses with 2 two week stalls thrown in for good measure. It hasn't bothered me because I know with the cals I'm consuming I WILL continue to chip away at it.
Jumped on the scales today( Wednesday weekly weigh day) and BOOM 1.5 kg loss. I haven't done a thing different this week.
    So 45 kilo's down, 10 to go ............

It was interesting for me watching this with my thunder cousins who were pro-thin people and argued that the overweight people were overly sensitive and yet, when the tables were turned on the thin people (they literally turned it around and asked the same rude questions they had just asked the obese audience members) not one single person answered. Yet the yelled and demanded the obese people do so. And my cousins, always so thin an pretty felt that the obese people had a chip on their shoulder. I pointed out that as an obese person (well I was until recently) if there was a chip on my shoulder I would have known about it... And probably eaten it but that is irreverent- I mean irrelevant
I don't want to make light of it but geez if you don't laugh you'll cry!!

I agree Aussiegirl - people are very harsh when they have never experienced being truly overweight and having to lose the amount of weight we have all had get off while dealing with ravenous hunger and constant triggers and temptation, is near impossible. Until you have walked in someone else's shoes ....
I say put them on the preop diet of 700 calories and then tell them that they have to live the rest of their life feeling that hungry! They would stampeding Maccas!

Misty, sounds like you are going strong
K8ee, cant say i have even heard of that brand
Lessismore, yes it is expensive, but as Misty said, your life is more valuable. And you would think that your grocery bill would go down, only really early on, but nowadays I dont see much difference but also I eat different now....
On news from me, sharing it here first. I got an appointment for Monday to see a Plastic Surgeon (he had a last minute cancellation woot woot), he has originally quoted just under $15k for a TT and arm lift, my 2 must do areas. Will see what he says in person, as I know my tummy, pelvic area is a mess right now (unfortunate camel toe...eeek ).
Thankfully I am not planning on getting the girls fixed, I went from a 22/24 DD to 14DD or 16D depending on the bra.

I'm still here. I check on the thread far more than I post.
Thank you so much everybody that has tried to help me, especially Lissa.
While not rehashing all of my struggles, I'm doing a bit better. My office was having a weight loss competition and I was told that I was the only one allowed to gain weight. I lost 5kg in a week. And put myself in the 40s. A coworker heard me making myself sick in the bathroom after lunch and confronted me about it.
I'm now seeing a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders and a dietician who has me eating every 2 hours. Also, I've given myself the worst acid stomach by vomiting so much, so I'm on the nexium for life now.
I've put on 2kg and am back in the 50s. I don't want to put on any more so I can see this being a real struggle.
Even though I don't post much. It's so good to know you're all here, and notice when I'm not.
Keen to catch up, I promise I won't be a downer. Let me know when.
