Scotty, congrats, you deserve the positive comments. Let me ask you this? Are you eatting less? Are you exercising more? Then it is not a lie as such. You will tell the people that you are comfortable with when you are ready. I was pretty honest with most people on what I have done. Tho if I met random people in the street I would just say diet and exercise. I eventually outed myself at a work function, where one of my friends made the video of my journey, which said it more about life change than just the sleeve. It had become a bit of a weird subject for people, was I sick? My CEO who used to talk to me, couldnt, some days he would just stare at me. I mentioned it to one of his contemporaries and they were like he doesnt know what to say, and i am like, well hello is usually a start And with the job interview and new start, people will only know the new you, so there will be less conjecture within the office environment. I hope you ace the interview. How are you guys dealing with people you have met post the sleeve? Do you tell them if they notice how little you eat? Do they even notice the amount of food you eat? I have had a few different experiences, would love to hear whta you have experienced. -
I think it is less about the hair or lack of, but how you pull it off! Confidence is sexy

Dehydration long term & dizziness anyone?
Aussiegirl replied to sirensiren's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I too, have had the dizziness kinda thing happen. Usually when I get up to quickly, there is a moment where everything is a bit woozy. I recently had an incident where I passed out (broke my ankle somehow in the process), they did all kinds of tests on me, BP ok, bloods perfect. It does seem more common when I have had some alcohol the night before. *Shrugs* -

First of all Aww Dean, you are so sweet I agree you are all great women, and I am happy to come and visit and hear how well and positive you all are, even when life is giving us a few slaps to the face. Lissa I agree it is your friends issue. You know what is going on with her. I am sure a bit of the green eyed monster came out. We do start to treat ourselves better once we start to like what we see on the outside and feel more confidence. It only follows that we also expect others to treat us with the same respect. Unfortunately we do sometimes loose friends in the process, some of these were the best for us in the first place. It is really horrible feeling, this I know quite well, but hopefully in the end we are in a happier place for it....man that sounds all zen-y *shakes head* -

Sueco, I know the feeling about being concerned about finding myself back where I was. Overweight and unhappy etc and really having no way back to here. Having maintained my weight now for close to 7 months it is still a struggle, I gave myself an upper limit and have to stay underw that, if I get close to it, I spend a few days watching what I eat and work out harder. Our journeys dont end when we get to goal....it is a life struggle. But I am positive our generation of weightloss people understand the changes we are makiing not only to our bodies but our lives, and the statistics will change in the next 10 years. -

Hey Mini Me, good to see you. The first thing they gave me at the hospital to consume was an icy pole, so I think you should be fine with that. But just watch the sugar in them, you can always make ice blocks with low cal cordial and suck on those to help get fluids in. Did you have a nutritionist doctors, order for eatting post sugery? They would be best placed comment. However based on the advise I was given from my doctor, all of those should be fine 7 days post op, thin brothy Soup. I never did Protein shakes, hated them so cant really comment on the consuming of them. You can try mixing the Water up with low cal cordial as well, it helped me get the water down at first as water felt hard on the stomach, but amazingly flavouring the water it didnt feel as bad. I also drank tea...lots and lots of green tea. Good luck with your recovery, you will do great. And those canula's hurt like a buggery, they tried me a couple of times as well....ouch!!! I feel for you -
Dean, sounds like you have inspired a revolution in here and at home I am off to the physio again tommorow, and am going to see if I can get back into running. I miss it so much, not that I have ever run a full 5k yet, 2 k was the max i got to in one stint. Was doing 8-10k with a mix of running/walking before the universe told me to stop.!

I was thinking about this the other day, and almost thought of posting a similar thread, but never got around to doing it. A little while ago, I used to look at myself in the mirror and think I had gotten skinny, I am and was wearing sizes that I always thought was good sized skinny (for me and it is different for everyone else). I am not sure where my mind changed, but now I look and see an fat person. While I am not in the normal range for BMI, I am curvy and I like that, I am tone and would be close if not in a normal range, cept for all this damn skin. The skin I feel is making me see a fat person it hides the muscles I work so hard for...grrr and bulges out in places it shouldnt. I am at a weight that I can easily maintain with my lifestyle (ie no more loosing but not putting it back), and have been here for over 6 months ( with christmas, celebrations, over eatting, injuries etc occuring during this time). I believe there will come a time when you will find your normal. I dont know that I have an answer but I do know that I experience it too...

Me too So relate to all that...just hope I dont put back on half the weight I lost. Way to go Deano!!!! Welcome to the overweight club! SwiftKate, congrats you are doing awesome and as Dean pointed out, almost at half way! -
Mine too...I now weirdly like Country music, was originally a rock chick through and through....now I got some room for country twang

I am with Cheri! Shoes, specifically boots for me. Now I have normal sized calves, I cant stop buying the damn things. And the saddest thing is since I broke my ankle at the beginning of the year I have barely been able to wear them (as most a heels and that dont go so well at the moment). I also like to cook, keep feeding everyone...I live alone so there is always way too much food. My workmates mainly benefit from this over cooking. One could argue that I moved to alcohol, as I mostly want to drink rather than eat when things get bad, but am a lush at 3 drinks...so not really happening there either. Never been able to get into the coffee thing at all...

This is hard I had found, pre-surgery that most of my friends had moved on from me in life, started having families etc. Now I am well and truly recovered, and looking pretty darn good (for me anyway ) I am looking to meet new people. I have tried joining work out groups, looked at Meet up groups for things that I am interested in. I am looking at taking some adult learning classes at a local community college etc. Still havent met a really great group of people yet but i gotta keep trying. Add to that I am also single and looking for a partner, which is even harder! So I am looking for a wingman/wingwoman and a partner lol.....apply within lol

I think so. As you progress, life seems easier and you dont worry so much about the amount you are consuming to the extent of counting everything. But then you get this umm nice lil reminder. It is definitely not something one sets out to do.

Getting back on the throwing up subject I woke up from surgery throwing up...so awesome! Then didnt really throw up until like 9 months out when i had a stomach virus. Nowadays I wouldnt call it throwing up, like we would have pre-surgery, it is more sliming...just a whole lot of slime...yea it is pretty. And yes in almost every occasion, a carbonated drink as been involved, my drink of choice is champagne...and its not everytime I drink champagne, but as others have said it is best to drink or eat, never the 2. In my case, sometimes I am just dumb and enjoying being with people and forget BTW I am saving so much money on alcohol lol, i can do more than one, usually 3 before I feel it now. I get drunk quick and sober up even quicker, usually if I go out, have a few drinks, feel the drunk sensation, then by the time i get home I am sober again.

OregonDaisy, I know what you are talking about and was worried I was failing. Sam situation, out with friends having dinner with a drink or a few and then eatting. Tho I dont force myself to throw up, my body does. I have a few times lately had to excuse myself and "throw up/slime up". I guess I need to be more aware when this is happening, but I am more interested in the people

In case I havent said it before, my name is Karen It has been 18 months since my last 3000 calorie binge... MiniMe, I dont use fitness sorry. -
Yep, it has been my experience. I conceptually get it, but dont understand it. It is one reasons I have become the person I am, that they are/were interested in. I am no different afterwards as i was before I told them but still i am. One can hope that one day I will find someone I can be honest with. Missmeow, anyone can become a fattie, whether you have been skinny all your life, or been fighting it your life. Actually I (well we are) am less likely to ever be a fattie again.
