I lost l00 lbs. and had a tummy tuck done in Tijuana and I am so happy that I had it done. It is very flat and I love the way it looks in my jeans. Just because we are in a certain age group doesn't mean that we still want to look good. Go for it.

I had my surgery in Tijuana and you have nothing to be scared about. I had better care there than I would have received in the U.S. You are going to love your band. Good luck

Dr Daniel Huacuz He Is Inamed Certified
sistergirl replied to lucartwlucy's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It has never been a money issue with me. The people that I have referred to him have been friends and family. They had surgery with him because of me and the experience that I had there. If I added up the amount of times that I have been there with my friends and paid for my own expenses, it has cost me money. However, this does not matter to me because I feel like I am giving someone else the opportunity to take back their life by loosing weight and having a great experience with Dr. Huacuz at the same time. -

It sounds like you are working for Dr. Acheves. It also sounds like you are Mexican because you spell with, whit and this is very common in Mexico. I have never seen a person that is trying so hard to make a person like Dr. Huacuz sound like such a bad doctor and I know from my own personal experience that he is not. I have never seen so many post from one person as you have posted. Is this all you do is live on Lap Band talk? Get a life -

I was staying at the Huacuz Surgical Center when this patient was going through some of this. She started having problems when she did not follow instructions by swallowing an anti-acid instead of letting it disolve and this tore open her stomach. She admitted that to me the night that it happened. She had her surgery done on Monday and I arrived with my best friend and her husband who was having a sleeve gastrectomy that night. She came in several times and told my friend how wonderful she thought Dr. Huacuz was and that she had never experienced such care like she had received there. The day before she was scheduled to leave she swallowed the anti-acid and started having problems. The doctor took her back to surgery to repair the tear. From then on she started having problems. The tissue is very soft after surgery with the sleeve and if it is torn open before it heals and you have to go back in and repair the tear sometimes it does hold. I have been in Dr. Huacuz's facility many times and it is a hospital to me or surgical facility. It is very clean. The operating room is state of the art. His whole staff is wonderful and so he is. You made the comment that says sweet things to patients that make them feel special. I am a very confident person and always have been even before I lost l00 lbs. with the Lap Band and have always been very independent, but it still feels good when someone gives you special attention. I have referred 20 people to Dr. Huacuz, 2 vertical sleeves and the other 18 were Lap Band and none of them have had any problems and have nothing but great things to say about him. I have never been to a more caring doctor than Dr. Huacuz. -
I have someone that is wanting her surgery done in Tijuana that is from Boston, if you find a doctor in the surrounding area of Boston please let me know. This is the only thing that is stopping her.

Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?
sistergirl replied to weightshaker's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
He is certified by Inamed and he is also a member of the American Board of Bariatrics. Dr. Huacuz did my Lap Band surgery in October of 2006 and I have lost l00 lbs. The before and after care is wonderful. I have referred about 20 people to him from Texas and they have all been very pleased. -
Beer is very hard to go down with the band. It seems to foam up. However if you like beer and you drink Michiladas, it goes down very well. This is salt on the rim of the glass, lime juice in the botton with ice and clamato juice or hot sauce and a lime on the side. This will go down very easy and it is diluted.

Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Daniel Huacuz in the Houston or surrounding area? -
I am from Houston and I saw your replay just today. Have you had the surgery?

Does anyone know where the next support group will be in Houston?

I met a lady at my doctors office that had a slipped band, and the doctor stitched the band back in place. I guess it depends how band it has slipped.

justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared
sistergirl replied to justwaitin2b's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded last October by a doctor in Tijuana. The care was awsome and I have lost 98 lbs. It took nine months to loose the weight. I feel great. Do not worry about not loosing the weight because you will loose the weight, the band makes you loose it, that is what is so great about it. Good luck -
Houston Wannabe Bander

I have a friend that was a teacher that I took to my doctor at the end of May to have Lap Band surgery. She was with the Cyfair school district. She needed to loose 60 lbs. and her insurance turned her down. She went to my doctor in TJ to have the procedure done for half of the price that the doctors charge here. You can also get financing with him for year interest free. I had United Health care and they turned me down. However my daughter had United Health care and it paid all but 2500.00 of hers. So it depends on what United Health Care policy you have. -
Banded 8/13 - NOT doing well
sistergirl replied to clorox123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain that you are having is probably from the doctor nicking the nerve in surgery. My daughter had lap-band surgery and this happened to her. She had a severe pain in her side. She would take three IBuprofins and drink a got cup of coffee and it would subside. She had her surgery done in the US and I had mine done in TJ . I asked my doctor about it, because she could not get any response from hers and he said the best thing to take for it would be a muscle relaxer like Soma. It has been a year since her surgery and it has finally subsided. As far as constipation, this is typical with this surgery at first. You just have to take medication. If you are draining puss, be careful. One of the side affects of this surgery is a seroma. In the event that you get a seroma, do not let the doctor dig down in there. All you have to do is place hot compresses on it and take Cipro and it will go away. Take care, I hope you get to feeling better -
Looking forward to banding in Sept.

This happenened to me as well, I had an obesity clause in mine that I was not aware of. I appealed it and everything and it did no good. I ended up paying for mine myself. It was worth every penny, it has been l0 months and I have lost all of my weight which was 98 lbs.

Getting banded when you have <100lbs to lose...
sistergirl replied to mommakatx2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have referred several friends who have weighed less than 100 lbs to have lap band surgery. One only needed to loose 40 lbs., but it had been the same 40 lbs. she had been carrying around for 15 years. One friend needed to loose 60 lbs. and one needed to loose 55 lbs. I needed to loose 98 lbs. which is what I have lost since my lap band surgery. My insurance would not pay either. It was $15,000 where I live so I went Tijuana and had mine done. I love my band and it has been an awesome experience. -
I felt the same way and so did my daughter that actually had the surgery by him.

For 2500.00 it would almost pay you to fly back to Tijuana for free except the flight. -
Any one been to Dr.Aceves Mexicali MX
sistergirl replied to labella's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations, you will love your band, it will be life changing. I had my band in Tijuana and they say Mexacali is a very hot part of Mexico. Good luck -
Both of my daughters went to Spiegel, they have lost their weight, but one of them had some problems with a nerve that had been nicked in surgery and when she had to go back to him he was a jerk. You are right he is just what you said he was. I went to him first for my banding, buy my insurance would not pay for my surgery. When they got the noticed that I was denied they never called me or anything. I went to Tijuana since I was self pay and I am glad I did. The care has been awesome.
