thanks Diva... I appreciate your insight. I hope to be a success similar to you. You are such an inspiration to me. I will stay the course, keep sipping, walking and watching what I eat. -
Frustrated-please help me understand

OMG. I am 3 weeks post op and the scale has not moved in 1 week. I am eating way less and walking 1-2 miles a day. The only thing I can think of is that since returning to work my fluid consumption has dropped off significantly. My rings that were once falling off are now tight. So, maybe my body is holding on to water since I haven't been consuming enough? I'm not sure. -
My doctor required a 2 week pre diet followed by liquids for 3 weeks and then mushies for another 3 weeks. By Halloween, I will be able to eat more but just less of it. I am excited.

forgive yourself and this will serve as a reminder in future temptations to come. Hey the sleeve is a tool but it certainly doesn't make us perfect, all of a sudden. -
This I Know for Sure . . .
Rebel replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great post! I know VSG was the right choice for me. Those 3 weeks of liquids was tough and even this week with mushies is not easy. Mainly I eat so slow cause I am afraid of overdoing it. Still having a lot of left side lower abdominal pain, etc. But trying to walk & sip as much as I can. Back at work this week which has hurt my fluid consumption which has in turn hurt the scale. But, I know this was a good decision. My blood pressure and blood sugar are already completely normal without meds. -
OMG I completely understand. I just started mushies yesterday. I had one egg for Breakfast, a Protein shake, a 1/2 can of canned chicken and 2 green Beans for lunch, a lite yogurt about 1/2 a container for snack and some refried beans with cheese for dinner. I added Isopure plain protein to my shake and my yogurt to help me get my 60 grams in for the day. It was great. I am still a little scared of eating too much. I feel what seems like a gas bubble forming in my center chest between by breasts and I make myself stop eating. I'm not sure if that is the feeling I am supposed to be watching for or not. Today, I had a Protein Shake for breakfast due to timing and am enjoying a can of tuna for lunch now. I returned to work on Monday and have noticed my liquid consumption has significantly suffered. The scale hasn't moved in 6 days now and I noticed my rings, etc are tight whereas they were loose a few days ago. Hopefully I can increase my liquids today and the scale will move in the next few days. Trying to stay positive. Oh and I'm walking a lot too. I walk 500 steps every 2 hours at work which gives me a mile by the end of the day.

Pregnancy update- Important Details
Rebel replied to Tiffykins's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Tiff- After reading your post, I immediately bowed my head in prayer for you and Tatum. I prayed that the Lord would increase your platelet levels and that you will be able to have the kind of delivery you wish to. One of my favorite quotes is" Faith is not believing that God can, Faith is knowing that He will". I can't wait to hear from you next week that your levels are exactly where they should be. Believing in Christ, -
6 weeks post-op halfway to goal :-)

Congrats!! Great work!! -
I am on day 17 post op and am on full liquids currently. I had the same hunger pangs and was told that it was from acid production. Your stomach used to be the size of a football and now it is just the size of a banana. However, your acid production doesn't automatically decrease when you have surgery. Instead it can take 1-2 months for it to regulate itself. This means that the hunger pangs are really your stomach acid looking for something to digest, hence sending you the signal to send something fast. If you take your prevacid 2x per day, these pangs will decrease greatly. Instead, you will get them only when you truly need some protein/fluids. Keep in mind for us women, that we are shedding fat cells right now. Our fat cells contain a lot of estrogen, as these fat cells are shed the estrogen builds up in our blood stream and causes moodiness, depression and even moments of tears. It's perfectly normal as well. Take care and keep up the good fight.

Learning new coping skills without food
Rebel replied to Ellie4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 2 weeks post op and am still figuring this one out. When I feel down, I try to login here and read success stories. When I feel depressed I try to reach out to one of my friends or family members that are supportive. I also read books and go for long walks. I am in that cocoon right now of being at home though. I go back to work next week and worry about handling stress then. Used to I would eat something. -
I am 2 weeks out and looking forward to eggs, canned meat, etc starting week 3. I can't have ground meat until after week 6.. Something about red meat they say it is hard to process. I am going to stick with baked fish, tuna, salmon and canned chicken & tuna. Guacamole sounds so good though.

Seven months and 92 pounds
Rebel replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
SK you look terrific. Thank you for sharing all of the great tips. I start mushies next week and am so ready... Congrats on your phenomenal success. I hope to say the same this time next year. -
My parents divorced after 42 years and I was in my late 20's. I cannot tell you how much happier they are now. Both have remarried and are truly happy for the first time in a long time. I so wish they had not waited so long to divorce. I grew up in a home where yelling, cussing and slamming doors was the norm. Not only that, but I had to grow up too fast standing up for my Mom and getting in the middle of their physical fights which is awful. It made me an insecure adult who avoided conflict and instead dealt with my stress & emotions by eating them away. I am a wife & mom now and I find myself knowing what "not" to do based on my upbringing experience. The main things are love, trust & communication. My husband and I can talk about anything. It's not like we live in paradise all the time. Sometimes we have to agree to disagree but it is so much healthier than how I grew up. I did not want my son to grow up in an unstable house the way I did. I will be praying for you. If your husband is willing to go to counseling with you, then I think you should try it. People can change but only if they want to and they accept help and follow through on it. I can only tell you that you have to make yourself happy, no one else can do that. Your kids feel everything you feel so even if you aren't saying it, they know you are unhappy and sometimes they can blame themselves if they don't understand what is going on. God bless you as you make your decision. Wishing you the best, cause that's what all of you deserve.

I am still on full liquids phase and move to mushies next Tuesday, 9/27. I am trying to track my fluids/protein today instead of guesstimating the way I have been. Maybe I haven't been getting in as many as I thought. Thanks for everyone's encouragement. I appreciate each one of you.

My first throw up since I was sleeved exactly 3 weeks ago!
Rebel replied to iiPinkxLoveii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what you are feeling is completely normal. Speaking for myself only, diets have let me down so many times before so why is this one going to be any different? I lost 28 lbs in the past 4 weeks including 2 week pre-op & 2 week post-op. But, the last 3 days there has been NO movement on the scale whatsoever. It is hard to stay motivated to keep drinking & walking, especially when food is the way I managed stress in the past. Now, that is not an option. I am trying to track my Protein, fluids & walking today to see if it seems to help with the scale movement (down, that is). I get to start eating mushies next Tuesday and while I can't wait, I am also a bit nervous. I wonder if I will feel full or if I will eat too much and get sick. Hope you get better. I'm here if you need to vent. -
I wish I could help. Unfortunately, I am 2 weeks post surgery and the last 3 days have seen no movement on the scale. I am trying to increase my fluids, Protein & walking to see if that will help. But, I am definitely feeling discouraged. I lost 12 lbs on the pre-op diet and 16 since surgery. I try to get my 60 grams of protein & fluids in each day but know that I am not always successful. My left side has been really pulling so I had not been walking as much. Started walking again this past Tuesday and trying to get 1/4 mile in every 2 hours or so. Hopefully someone will respond that can help both of us. If nothing else, you now know you are not alone.

CONGRATS! That is awesome news. I am just starting out myself, 2 weeks after surgery today. But, I hope to say the same in the next year. -

Anyone having problems with old obese friends?
Rebel replied to lunarose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiffykins- GOOD FOR YOU. I am sorry that your previous "friends" let you down in such a phenomenal way. You would think that they more than anyone would understand why you chose WLS. But, I guess that was not the case. We just have to remember that we did this for ourselves, to be healthy and live longer for our families. Not only that but to actually live instead of just being alive. I am so proud of you and you inspire me every day. -
My preop diet started on 8-24 and i lost 12 pounds. Surgery was 9-6 and I have lost an additional 16 pounds. Still feel hungry if I dont keep sipping And get my fluids in. Side incisions still hurting But getting easier. I am so glad I did this.

Pain next to belly button
Rebel replied to Texasmom65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks out and have that same pain. I have been told it's where they cut into the abdominal muscle to put the stapler in/out and to remove the stomach portion. So, it was really stretched open during surgery. Some folks report pain 1-2 months out still. Maybe that's what it is.
