Last week I had my psyc and NUT appointment. My paperwork was submitted to the insurance on Sept. 28th. I am so anxious to get an approval! The bariatric nurse keeps telling that my case is a little difficult because I don't really meet the weight requirements BMI is at 35 and my comorbity is sleep apnea. My current weight is 197 my highest weight has been 203 I am 5'4 Does anyone else have/had a similar case like mine and wee you approved or rejected? I hope to hear good news soon from my insurance!! The waiting is going to drive me crazy! I would appreciate any feedback Thank you

I feel you! I had my psyc eval and NUT appointment yesterday and now the waiting begins for insurance approval! I am hoping to be approved with in the next couple of weeks and maybe have surgery before end of next month! but I can only hope! I am the mercy of my insurance or at least that's how I feel right now Good luck on your journey!

I finally received the sleep apnea diagnosis I needed for the bariatric center to move me forward in the process. Next week I have to meet with the psychologist and the nutrionist! I finally told my mom about the surgery and she was supportive (this time) I told her I needed her to be there and that I didn't want the negative comments from her or my sister. She finally realized that I have made up my mind and that I need to be healthy for my kids. I am so excited I can't wait to start my life! I hope my insurance will approve me right away and I can get a surgery date by next month!!

Tomorrow evening is my sleep study! In order for me to move on with the WLS process I need a sleep apnea diagnosis. I am so nervous I need this diagnosis to be approved by my insurance. This sounds really bad, but I hope I have sleep apnea! wish me luck!!

Hello, I'm new to the site. I have been on this site for about 2 weeks now and finally decided to join. I am 36 years old I'm 5'3 and weigh 203. I have struggled with my wieght for the past 10 years. I started the WLS process about a month ago. I have attended an informational meeting about a year ago, but finally decied I just need to do this. I am scheduled for a sleep study on Wednesday. I don't have any type of health problems and they referred me for a sleep study to help me get approved with a sleep apnea diagnosis. I have BCBS I don't know if they are going to require a psych eval or some type of diet, but I'm anxious. Does anyone know what's the next step after the sleep study diagnosis?

I'm going through the bariatric center at the local hospital. I did call my insurance and it is covered, but I never asked what are the requirements for the procedure. The bariatric center has asked me for all my medical history. I recently had a endoscopy just to get it out of the way. I hope they don't require some type of diet before they approve me. I have been on all the diets our there and I just can not stay on a diet to save my life! My mother and sister are not supportive of the surgery. They are thin and have never struggled with their weight like I have. My sister is always on my case about not having will power. I made a decision not to include them. I have my husband's full support and that's all that matters at this point. I want this so bad. I am just so ready. I want to feel good about myself. I will call my insurance company and ask what the requirements are. thank you all for your support through this journey!
