Kathy, about Snacks... I like greek yogurt and sometimes I add a little Bear Naked Peak Protein granola if I want a little crunch. I've just discovered dry roasted edamame too - lots of protein in a salty, crunchy snack. I keep almonds on hand and Kashi GoLean Protein & Fiber bars. When I want something sweet, I'll have a fudgesicle or a sugar free popsicle. If I'm obsessing about something in particular, I will have a few bites and that usually takes care of my craving. I don't want to live a life denying myself of things I enjoy, but I am trying to be smarter about it. One thing I've noticed is how selective I've become. Last night, my husband and I grabbed a quick bite at Waffle House before my son's football game. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette, with grits and wheat toast. I dug through the omelette with my fork until I found the perfect bites, had a couple of bites of grits, and then ate two or three bites out of the middle of the toast. I only ate the primo bites of everything. I used to save the best until last, but I'm learning to start with the best and then I don't want the rest. I looked at my plate after I was finished - still lots of food there and it was all torn up and moved around from me digging through it. It made me smile knowing that 3 months ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about it - my plate would have been clean!

Hey NewKat, I was sleeved 8 weeks ago today and have lost 18 pounds since surgery (plus 20 pre-op). I can fluctuate as much as 3 pounds a day and that messes with my mind. I've found that eating plenty of Protein and getting my Water in help curtail the snacking. I track everything on myfitnesspal.com and that helps too(I'm bosslady1001 on there if you want to send me a friend request - there are several sleevers on there). And of course, exercise makes everything better - but I'm not as good in that department as I should be. I'm 50 years old and I know I won't lose as fast as a 20 year old, but at least my weight is trending downward instead of upward. Hang in there - we can do this.

I was instructed to use liquid tylenol after surgery. At my 6 wks checkup with surgeon, he said I could take Advil in moderation.

Angel, I am 5 1/2 weeks out and just started losing again this week after 3 weeks of nothing - except gaining 2-3 pounds. I was worried that I was eating too much and that the sleeve wasn't going to work for me. But this week I've lost 6 pounds in 4 days!!! I know it can be discouraging but hang in there!

At the soft food stage, all I could have was bananas and canned fruits (peaches, pears). Raw fruits and vegetables weren't allowed until I started my regular diet. -

Thank you for this post! I needed it this morning. I will be 5 weeks post-op tomorrow and have lost 11 pounds - most of which was the in the first 2 weeks (lost 20 pounds pre-op). I was feeling like maybe this wasn't going to work for me. Of course, that's pretty crazy thinking since I'm only eating 600-900 calories per day! I suppose I should be grateful that I'm losing slowly - seems like it would be better for my 50 year old skin! Thanks for the encouragement! -

I am 4 weeks out and eat 5-6 times each day as directed by my nutritionist. Each meal includes Protein, but I try to alternate fruit, veggies, or whole grain with it. Depending on what I'm eating, I can eat maybe up to 1/2 c. of food - no more. My calorie range is usually 700-800 calories per day. My surgeon's diet was very liberal with just a few days spent on each phase. Now I can eat just about anything. It's interesting to me that I prefer protein now. Cookies can sit on the shelf in my pantry and I have no desire for them. Yay!! -

Have some liquid tylenol on hand at home. I only took my prescription pain medicine once when I got home. After that, tylenol was sufficient - and it was nice to have a clear mind rather than being all groggy from the prescription stuff. sugar free popsicles were great too - so refreshing to a dry mouth. -

I'm so glad I found this thread. I was sleeved on 8/31. I lost 20 pounds pre-op and 10 pounds post-op. Beginning the 2nd week i stopped losing and actually have gained 3-4 pounds. I am eating soft foods and sometimes feel like I'm eating way too much - although it's really only a small amount at each meal. I still have trouble getting all of my liquids in. Today I filled a 64 oz container with Water and put it in the fridge and am determined to drink it all. Before I was sleeved, I would read posts about stalls and think, "Oh there's no way I'm gonna let a stall get to me if it happens to me." Well I was wrong!!! It's making me crazy! I know I will have to start losing weight again since I'm eating so few calories, but I am ready for it to start NOW! -
To redress or leave exposed- drain incision site?

I'm getting sleeved on 8/31 also! We have a similar list of to-dos except my children are older and they can get their own food. Also on my list are taking measurements and photos. I've lost 16 pounds on my pre-op diet and I'm so full of energy - I can't weight (haha!) to see how much more energy I'm going to have when I lose more.
