I agree if symptoms get worse go to ER. If they don't get worse still go to your GP

    Personal Goals..

No goal for me either. So I decided to make my goal 150 lbs, which would still be overweight, but I felt like setting a goal I could reach. When I got to within 15 lbs of my goal, I reassessed and made my goal weight 140 which for me at 5"2 is still overweight but only just.

    Bk & Kfc.... Who Knew?

That is awesome, I am the exact same. I decided that me and fast food had a volatile relationship that resulted in my massive rear end. I vowed that I would not eat fast food until at the least I am in maintenance and had absolutely no other option. It hasn't been easy my family eats fast food a lot, I have been through several drive thrus but in the 5.5 months since surgery fast food and my mouth have not reignited there affair.
  12. After being hospitalized and on iv for 3 days, I weighed myself for the first time 1 week after surgery, was down a pound or two. Weighed the next day and was down 6 extra pounds of iv weight.
  13. I used to struggle a lot with getting my protein in. Now however at 5 months out, I have no problem getting the 70 grams I was told, sometimes I get much more then that. I use unjury, tried premier, found a chunk in my drink and have forever been turned off. I also found it quite thick and it was too heavy on my stomach. I use skim milk and add chocolate unjury and that gets me 30 g protein and strawberry unjury with a little water which gives me 20 g. Strawberry doesn't taste amazing but for some reason its one of the only ones thatI can tolerate.

    Buffet Discounts?

I have avoided the buffets for this reason. Luckily for me, I don't tend to go out socially to restaurants but had to a couple weeks ago. It was a sushi buffet, I know sushi isn't bad for you, but its a little more high cal then I want, and I wasn't going to pay full price to eat a few pieces. the person I was with does not know I had wls, so couldn't ask for a discount. I ordered off the menu instead and just got miso Soup with tofu. I also felt very watched as the person I was with ordered a lot of sushi, they must of thought they were ordering to smuggle me some. Overall I try not to eat as much as possible and if I do go to a place where they won't accommodate I will just sit while everyone eats and have a Protein drink after.

    I Find The Operation Stupid

The 700 ml of Orange juice is going to be very acidic. You should try and avoid acidic foods and drinks as much as possible for as long as you can. People who have had the sleeve have trouble with acid reflux, that much acid would make the likelihood of acid much, much higher. Unfortunately the PPIs we are too take can have long term bone density issues so reducing the acid as much as possible to prevent the need to use these meds long term is important. Not trying to push anything on you, but for your health it would be much wiser to find alternative ways to get calories. There are many soft foods that you could consume that would be much better such as... greek yogurt, cottage cheese, hummus, Beans. Honestly all of us got the way we are because we were eating the wrong things. This operation is not a magic cure. It helps you, its a tool, but it won't do it for you. I have heard of people that have had the surgery that have lost barely any weight because they continue the same eating habits. You have been given a wonderful opportunity with the sleeve, and at 40 days in you still have ample opportunities to change any bad habits. I am not saying you need to be an angel by any means. Give in to occasional temptations in moderation, but you need a healthy foundation.

    How Do You Hide Your...

I have lost a lot of hair too. I agree we just got to keep in mind that it will come back. I have decided to not cover it up, and just let nature take its course, so unfortunately I cannot offer you any advice.
  17. Sleep Apnea cleared up for me. I did not have any other comorbidities, but was definitely on my way to having issues, luckily was able to head it off with the sleeve.

    I Find The Operation Stupid

We are all entitled to our opinions. But I have never doubted the change this sleeve has made in my life. I used to not eat normal. Now with my sleeve I eat normal. I eat to survive not to enjoy. My sleeve has turned me into a health conscious eater. I do not drink any juices, watch the carbs in those, also be careful with orange juice, quite acidic. My typical day of food goes. (at 5 months out) 8 oz - skim milk (100 cal, 10 protein) 1 scoop chocolate injury (100 cal, 20 protein) 1/2 cup fat free plain greek yogourt (60 cal, 10 protein) with a few blueberries and smushed blacked berries for flavour (40 cal) 3-4 oz of Water with 1 scoop injury strawberry (100 cal, 20 protein) raw vegetables with 2 tbs hummus (appx 100 cal, 4-6 protein) 3-4 oz of water with 1 scoop injury strawberry (100 cal, 20 protein) that is 700 calories and around 85 grams of Protein. Although I do not typically eat much meat, as it does aggravate my stomach but still have no problem staying within calories and getting my protein. If you use your sleeve right there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion.
  19. Wow, this has definitely been heated... I am completely impartial as I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves, who I would personally recommend. I think there is some fishiness going on, on the part of the coordinators. Gottago has only posted in response to bashing Dr. Kelly or advertising Dr. Garcia. Definitely suspect that isn't just some random poster who had or wants wls. Again thats just my opinion. As far as Dr. Kelly being angry and saying what was perceived as a lie. He essentially did drop them when he took on Trish. However he still used them in addition, as they were referring him patients. For them to not notify him, was very dishonest imo for them to contact patients before letting him know. They wanted to cut it off from there end at this point obviously but it is quite possible from his perspective it was him cutting it off by taking on Trish. To me the dishonesty comes from the coordinators I do not know anyone with great integrity that would contact the patients before even letting him know they were not referring patients anymore, and converting ones they already booked. Also the fact that they are still advertising him as a surgeon it ridiculous! I will never perceive a bait and switch to be an honest thing to do. I am not saying go with Dr. Kelly because I have no personal experience, but clearly with what the coordinators have shown they aren't to be completely trusted either.

    Highly Qualified Doctor For Wls

I agree. I have had nothing but an amazing experience dealing with Dr. Aceves and his team. I got a loan to get it done there and I will never regret it. For me it was not worth risking my life for a few thousand dollars. Thanks for posting this.
  21. Congrats on the weight loss Keep up the great work. I was having issues with vomiting for a while and wasn't able to do Protein drinks, but some time between month 2-3 I retried Protein Drinks and found one that I could tolerate. I don't enjoy them but I consume them for my health. I also only get sick once in a blue moon, and its certain foods that do it to me. Ground beef will be fine on day, vomit the next. chicken used to be my go to protein, but I overdid it and the smell alone makes me nauseous now. You will find what works for you

    Back Pain

I did have a sore back after surgery, but mine was purely due to the fact that I had to sleep on my back, which I never do because it hurts. Honestly if the pain persists or gets any worse I would contact your doctor. You can never be too safe when it comes to your health. Good luck, and feel better.

    I Have To Share This!

LOL, so darn true At 5 months out I have developed more of a trusting relationship with farts, but every time I touch sugar alcohols the trust issues come back XD
  24. Weirdest thing for me. I used to watch that show and iron chef once in a blue moon when my parents had it on. I thought it was entertaining. But now that I am not eating all that unhealthy crap I am addicted to the food network and food shows... Wish I knew why since I won't ever eat the stuff lol... But even though I love most of the food shows, for the life of me I can't watch man vs food anymore. It makes me nauseous seeing him eat the stuff he eats. Its like watching Supersize Me on steroids.
