What's your favorite vanilla protein powder?
Thomas CPA replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EAS 100% Whey Protein, I get it at Target. Tried other brands at time but the flavor of those was yuch! Go with you like taste of. Putting some strawberries, banana or other fruit or berries to break up the routine. -
Problem with getting protein.
Thomas CPA replied to jillw8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree on Greek Yogurt and try protein bars (only 220 calories and 14 grams of protein). I am almost 8 weeks out and eating normal foods like chicken and beef. -
Personally I haven't been a big wine drinker and gave up coffee a long time ago, it just added calories and nothing else. I found working out is a great replacement for coffee. Only wine I have is at church. Be careful not to swallow to fast and good luck.

Kaiser Permanente is Southern California
Thomas CPA replied to MaceoMack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had mine on August 4 at South Bay Kaiser. Don't sweat the approval, the doctor will most likely approve it. At the required meeting with the doctors (all the patients planning surgery in a period) the only reason they said they would deny was someone 100 or more pounds overweight, over the age 60 and had some sort of condition which would indicate they would not be able to follow through with the dietary requirements. -
I might have screwed up the whole thing!
Thomas CPA replied to longer-life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife was opposed and my son just stayed neutral though wife tried to make him negative with wrong ideas. Remember you are doing it for yourself and them. By being at a healthy weight you can enjoy your family more as well as feel better. I was somewhat fortunate, my insurance company recommended but didn't require counseling but I did have to go through an eight week course that prepared me. Remember you are doing it for your long term health. -
6 months...met docs goal..22 lb to personal goal
Thomas CPA replied to Lanette's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good job. My original goal was to get to 150 pounds but modified to 180 pounds for two reasons: First if I loose much more my body shape will be way to thin and I am getting women commenting on how I look now telling me to now lose to much, second my personal physician 180 is about as low as I should go for my height and bone structure. Again congratulations on your accomplishment. -

Thomas CPA replied to BigDonSloba's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure my wife doesn't like it when women who knew me at 305 now see a much thinner man and compliment me however that doesn't mean they want to go out with me. Hopefully she will join me -
Sleeve around your stomach ?
Thomas CPA replied to wanttobeslim12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically it is stomach stapling. Just browse internet you will find some utube videos. They take a staple gun and go down middle of stomach making it smaller than remove the outside portion. Surgery only takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Unlike bypass you have no obstruction going into stomach and have full intestinal track to absorb vitamins and minerals. -

You know you lost weight when
Thomas CPA replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you pull out the fanny pack for Disneyland, the one you stretched the last millimeter out of to fit around your waist and now get to pull out a few feet so it is small enough to fit around your waist. Better realizing you need to cut off the slack because the belt is way to big. -
