N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh
Thinner me replied to Lady Q T's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok Girls..... I went to the ticker factory, created a ticker and then I just copy and pasted the ticker itself on my signature. I couldn't get it to work by copy and pasting the address..... I am just not all that computer savy. I guess it works and thats what counts.:clap2: -

Questions about fills
Thinner me replied to sweetforlife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great info, thanks Wendell. -
Congrats Everyone!

Great question! I am wondering if it will take more fills to get you to a proper restriction with a 14cc band vs a 4.0cc band or if they will actually fill you with a larger amount at each fill.

Hi Traci, I'm not banded yet, but I did develop a seroma in my leg when I had a turmor removed. In general they are nothing to be concerned about as long as there is no infection. In my case, the area that the tumor was in was fairly large and fluid would build up in there. The incision healed well except for the tiny area where the fluid would squirt out. I would soak a towel with the fluid in about 2 hours. This went on for about 3 months. I had to have a second surgery and doctor #2 "cleaned" the area out and put a drain in to allow the area to drain and heal properly. Both doctors said that normally seromas heal on there own, the fluid is reabsorbed into the body and all is well. My case was alittle different in that the area was so large, and that the incision site wouldn't heal properly because of the pressure of the fluid. I would say if you are very concerned, contact your doctor again. If you still dont have peace about it, contact your PCP. Keep us posted on your progress. Ang

Anybody from Colorado Spring?
Thinner me replied to lapbandliz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just wanted to say Hi. If you look under local support, there should be a thread for Colorado, and someone should be able to help you out. -
Congrats on the band, I trust everything went well for you. When your feeling up to it post and let us know how your doing. Ang

Hey Dawn, nice to meet you. I got so excited reading your post. I'm still in the pre op phase and can almost picture myself when I FINALLY get my date. I am alittle nervous about the liquid diet myself, but when I think of all the crazy "diets" I've done over the years.....whats 2 weeks of liquids??? (remind me of that when I'm crying for something to eat in a couple months) Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Ang

Surgery scheduled 9/25..not a moment too soon!
Thinner me replied to MistyDTX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Misty! How exciting for you to get your band in less than a month. Your baby is such a good reason to get healthy, and what a good example you will be setting for her. I hope all went well with your mom. Keep us posted. Ang -
Welcome!! Congrats on your band! I'm not banded yet so I wont be to much help, but you have come to the right place for information. I have learned so much from this board and most everyone is very helpful. I would suggest you start by reading posts from those who were banded a couple months before you. You can see what they have experienced and get an idea of what should be going on with you. (thats what I've been doing) I look forward to getting to know you, and congrats again. Ang

Good morning ladies. Thanks again for such a warm welcome. Sue, I'll be praying that you get the go ahead from your insurance company soon. There is so much red tape involved in all this . I guess I can understand why, but it sure can be a pain in the neck. Lady Q T you are doing great :clap2:. I am so inspired by how well you and Deb are doing. I can't wait to join you in the loosers circle. Are you feeling any restriction right now? We have a family cruise planned for Feb. 3rd, so maybe its best that I have this delay. We did alot of eating last year , and I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt my band. I hope you all have a blessed day. Ang -

Thanks for the welcome. I hope you all survived the nasty storms yesterday. I am 39 and live just east of Columbus. I am married to the best husband in the world and combined we have 3 kids and 6 grandkids. I have PCOS and have been over weight all my life. I weigh 275, my highest weight ever. I am just finishing up my 6 months supervised diet with my PCP and now insurance says 6 months dietician visits. Looks like I wont get a date till late winter or early spring now. I am alittle upset by this set back, but I feel so blessed to have insurance that will cover WLS. Looks like you are doing great Deb, almost 50lbs in 2 months! WOW!!! I can't wait to get to know you ladies and share this journey with you. Thanks again. Ang -

Thinner me replied to Marlu77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Marlu, just wanted to say welcome. You have come to the right place for information. I have learned so much from the boards. Good luck and I hope your journey is smooth. Ang -
I'm in the last 2 months of the supervised diet, but now my insurance says I have to see a dietician for 6 months (they forgot to inform me of this 4 months ago). Oh well, you do what you have to do to get where you want to be. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

YAHOOOOO!!! Good for you!! You have to be beside yourself right now, I know I will be when my day comes. Good luck with your surgery. Ang

I feel your pain. I have PCOS too . I have all the common problems a person with PCOS has, I'm fat, have hair in places it has no business being, and if thats not bad enough I'm flat chested . My PCP actually suggested the band to me, and after a lot of thought and prayer, here I am. I have 2 months left of the supervised diet, and now insurance is requiring 6 months dietician visits. So...... Looks like we have to wait about the same amount of time. 6 months really does go by pretty quick, so hang in there. Just know there is someone here in the same boat your in. Good Luck!!!! My husband has this "love" for his 1991 Honda. It was once a lovely shade of gray and I think it now has some form of flesh eating virus. The seats are stained by everything from coffee to turkey juice.... yes turkey juice (very long story). It is a standard, and it jumps almost like a rabbit when he shifts from 1st to 2nd I KID YOU NOT!! It has no air and that should be enough to put it out of our misery, Yet he loves this car. We have a new Lexus suv and a 2006 Nissan, I drive the Lexus and in this weather 90+ he still refuses to drive the car with air!!!! We just moved into a new area and I am afraid to think what the neighbors must think of me driving around in my suv and my poor husband having to drive that old thing LOL! Don't get me wrong, not to long ago I would have thought that it was a great car and would have been thankful to have it (Lord knows I've driven worse) but for goodness sake its almost 100 degrees out there and the car smells of dead turkey!!!I think he needs some sort of help
