  1. Glad you surgery went well. Harper had its problems...mostly in the surgery area. When I got to the floor (after waiting almost 3 hours for them to clean the room), the staff was great. They do seem to "lose things" like my family or my daughter's phone number. I did get gritchy right after surgery...but now life is much better. I pray your will recover well and that we will both be slimmer us! DAL

  2. Had my first post-op appointment. Got the staples out which is the best feeling! I lost 10 more pounds! Wow. Cream soups and pudding taste wonderful, but still not hungry. Go back in 5 weeks for my first fill - a little scared! I am getting stronger. Back at work and too busy. God bless all you who are on the journey. I know we will be glad we did this! I can already see a difference and my clothes are getting loose! Woo-hoo!

Showed our surgery list to Pre-Op Nurse

I told the hospital dietician about this place, maybe she will share with others. It has been most helpful sharing with others who are going through the process. GO SUPER STRONG SENSATIONAL SAMURAIS!
  4. Congrats! I was banded the same day. So far I am doing well, too. Had to get some antibiotics for a fever and still have some of the pain - but overall doing well. Bless you!

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Well I am now banded. Went in yesterday at 11 for a 1 P.M. surgery and with emergencies and hard cases I did not get into surgery until 8 P.M. I almost left. I had a conversation with my family physician around 7:45. I was in tears. She listened and said i had waited that long - why leave now. She prayed for me and they came to get me. My surgery went well, he even repaired a small hiatal hernia. Iwas awake by 11 but had to wait for a room. I ended up spending the night. My back hurt from those beds, but when I got to a room I was fine. I was wide awake so they gave some benadryl, I got about 4 hours. I was up pottying in the night with no trouble. I have been very fortunate - pain is minimal and gas pains mostly hurting my left shoulder. I have Vicoden and Motrin for pain. I have been doing the fuids not because I am hungry, but my mouth is so dry. Sugar free popsicles are my favorite. I have had broth, jello and water. Gas is passing out the right end. Went to the store on the way home for popsicles and did a couple things around the house. I did start hurting so I laid down this afternoon. I love the no hunger feeling. I can hardly wait now for the rest of my new life. So be brave September friends - this is a good thing we are doing!

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Just three more days. What a hoot today was - I was part of a Family Funfest and had whipped cream pies thrown at me. And I could not lick my face once! Now that's sacrifice. Folk do not know yet I am having it done so they just laughed. One more memory. May we all do well. Blessings to y'all.

Great to read all the encouraging words from those of you who are on the other side! Wednesday is my day - getting nervous and excited. I just pray and hope I will do as well as the rest of you!
  9. I understand. I am over 1 week and I am hungry still, not as much as I was, but still wishing I could eat. I will be gald when the band he;lps the hunger. Hang in there! dal
  10. I have a date - September 10th in Detroit
  11. I am just starting the process with the appointments - feeling a bit overwhelmed. Will probably get banded in September. How is going for those who just had the surgery?
  12. Thank you for the replies to just getting started. I start my apointments Monday with the psych eval. Then in two weeks I see the cardioloogist and have an endoscopy - wait to see what all say and then pick the date. I am concerend about not eating so many of the foods of my life again - can I do it? I worry about stuck food as well...I guess I need to worry less and trust more. I too have been overwieght forever. But I want to be normal or average. And I really want to live life with less joint pain!:scared2: It is good to here from others who are at different stages - God bless y'all!
