No but your intention was clear. I don't think your opinions on a race of people belong on this great website, we are here to give support & advice. As a Native person, I don't appreciate the insinuation, I came to your thread to give you support. -

Wow I didn't realize the crime problems of Thunder Bay were caused solely by the people from the reserves, interesting . . . -
Got My Date!dec 10Th! Bb
So Ready replied to hazelnarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I'm December 10th too! I have to do a 2 week pre-op using a product called Smartforme. There are drink mixes & various foods that are high in protein. For dinner I am able to eat a low-cal, low-fat diet, which is nice to be able to eat with my kids. 24hours before surgery I have to go all liquid. -

Glad to hear you are better, where was the mucous plug & how does it develop? My surgery date is 12/10 and I'm trying to prepare myself to identify issues! lol

I'm excited to share that I was approved and my surgery date is December 10th! I was hoping to get it done sooner, but my surgeon is an avid deer hunter & hunting season is pretty much a holiday here in Wisconsin. Any other December sleevers out there? I started this journey back in April and I'm so excited to move forward. I will get to 'enjoy' Thanksgiving then start two weeks of Smartforme high protein food prior to surgery. The pre-op diet doesn't seem too bad, but no caffeine/diet coke will be a hard one!

I'm live in northern WI, in the minocqua area, but my surgery will be done at Aspirus in Wausau. I'm so excited, I turn 40 next year, and look forward to the next 40 years as a healthier version of me!

Thanks! I will have to be on the high protein diet for two weeks prior to surgery, to help shrink the liver down. I'm very excited! I want to get everything ready for Xmas beforehand so I don't stress out while recovering.

My Nut advised that I use Flintstones Chewables as well. They don't like the gummies because they don't contain iron, so of course I checked and couldn't find a gummy that had it. Anyway, hopefully that will help.

Hello group, this is my first post here, I've found so much information here, I'm glad this webpage exists. So here's my run-down on where I need some advice/help. I have 120lbs to lose and I have been going through the six month process for insurance approval, I have one more visit with my primary doctor, and one more visit each with my nutritionist & exercise therapist. Yesterday, my surgeon did an endoscopy to check the health of my stomach and pyloric valve, and he says it looked good but I had a little bile in my stomach. His suggestion is that I have a full gastric bypass, something he has suggested since we first met because of the greater weight loss potential, but I don't want the full bypass! I've explained to him that I have young children that I need to be able to keep up with and can't afford down time due to dumping syndrome or feel sluggish/become unhealthy because of absorption issues. I've not had issues with acid or bile reflux before, even when pregnant, so I am very hesitant to change the type of surgery based on just that. I will note that my surgeon is a very nice man, listens to what I am saying and explains things thoroughly, and said that the decision is up to me, that he will do either surgery should I be approved by my insurance. So. . . my two items that I need some help with are: are there folks out there who were able to achieve an over 100# weight loss with vertical sleeve; and are there folks who had NEW, lasting reflux issues with the sleeve? My 'gut' is telling me to stick with the sleeve! Thanks for any input!

Thanks for the great input everyone, I'm having Internet issues so I will keep this post short & respond better later. . I'm sticking with the sleeve, i feel like I can meet my goals with this surgery & I feel like if I had to have the bypass that it's not worth it for all of the problems. I'm glad my surgeon will support me in this! Thanks to all again, will be back later! -
