Coming up on my one-year anniversary

Ice trays would work for the early sleeves. =) Just a little tip. I am actually researching a different way to get Protein, especially for our sisters and brothers that have gone through these surgeries. Honestly, I drink my shakes daily, but I must say they are getting harder and harder to choke down. My reason for looking into it is for an easier yet productive method for us all.
  3. That's the way to do it. Think and stay positive. Yes we are here, and will keep a seat waiting for you. Wish you the best of luck, and keep us posted.

    Can hardly eat a thing

I don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me. I may look or even sound silly saying this. However I was told eat with a baby spoon, till I get used to eating. I have done that and I only can consume about 2 oz. I also stop as soon as I feel full. Wait that 30 minutes to drink. I usually walk during that time, to get the bowels moving. I hope things work out for you, also I agree with the contacting your doctor if it continues. Take care.
  11. Ahhh, 2 weeks and this past week has been nuts in the bed especially, nothing worse then waking up to all of it. Maybe I will add some more potassium. Thanks for the post, laughs are great.

    Pre-op diet

Good luck to all having surgery tomorrow. I remember the tiredness, take advantage of the sleep if you can. I agree with the caffeine and sugar being it. I was fortunate to be able to have three shakes a day, and one round meal a day. No sugar or caffeine. I still lost a good bid of weight prior to surgery, I was nervous after doing all that work they were going to turn me away. It does go away, and you do get your energy back. Hang in there. Saving seats for you all.

    Two weeks....

    Thank you! Very much appreciated
  14. Congrats to you!! You look fabulous
  15. It's good to have faith in your doctor. I'd definitely be honest, and ask questions. If you wanted to do your own diet, you could do the carnation instant breakfast shakes 3 times a day, to practice with the shakes, eat a well balanced meal once a day, and lots and lots of water. This may help you get prepared. Good luck and see you on the losers bench.

    Surgery Date 9/5/11 in Mexico

I have a friend that dealt with that. She was told to walk, and then elevate legs. She did have special socks for a short period of time to wear. I hope the best, and congrats on your surgery.

    I just cracked the 70's!!!!

Way to go! You are doing fantastic!
  18. Hi there, not everyone is the same, so not everyone will have the same experience. I will say I felt the same, measured the pros and cons, and still had a difficult time at the beginning. You need to see what benefits you, will this help you in the long run. Some thing I never openly admitted here, I do suffer from migraines myself. Had one recently, they gave me a zomig nasal. Which before never worked. It did this time. I also deal with anxiety and insomnia. Which both have creaped up on me, I take meds for just not the dose I used to take. Hopefully in time, I don't need these. But if this is your worry, I can say there are things that you can still take. Nausea~ I dealt with yes. I swore at the nurses and doctor, zofran does NOT work dor me, it took me to vomiting blood for them to finally get it (another story). They then put me on phenergran. They will help you. Pain~ At first yes, (goes along with another story) but the day after my second surgery I was fine. Each day gets better. One of my recomendations....have a nice pillow to cough with. It helped me. As far as the malnourishment and hair falling out, I believe these two things are plastered in my head. Is why I drink Water all the time.Sip sip sip sip sip......then in time it will; be chew chew chew chew chew.... Every one has a story, you will too. Some are good, some are not. It is how you deal with it. I would be happy to talk to you about my experience. Along with other peoples who are friends. They helped me tremendously. Hang in there, and never feel afraid to ask questions, or put out how you really feel. Someone may have been down that road who can tell you how they dealt with it. I wish you the best no matter which decision you shall make. If you need anything at all, feel free to shout.
  19. Initially there are limitations with the sleeve, however after some time passes they allow them again.

    Surgery is tomorrow!

I cleaned and cleaned is about what sums my waiting up. Moved things around to make it easier when I came home. Hang in there, we will save a seat for you.
  21. Have someone hide your scale. That is my best advice. Once a week let them take it out. Did you also measure yourself with a tape measure? Even though you may not be losing weight, you may be losing inches. Hang in there, you are doing great!
  22. Congratulations! This is an experience of a lifetime, no kidding. So well worth it.

    One week to Go

I had the same question, somewhere on this forum. All in all it is your decision. I can tell you that I initially I only told the people I knew would support me, and then I ended up telling the remaining of the family, before I said anything I said I need your support no matter what, if you can't support me I don't want to discuss it with you. Maybe selfish of me, but I fought with this decision for years, especially after losing a friend years ago to the bypass surgery. I am only now at 11 days and even though I am still in a funk at this stage, I believe this is the best thing I could have done. Live for you first.

    Exercise mishap

Oh my! I am glad you are okay. I can't take my dog for a walk, she is a golden, she'd end up taking me for a walk LOL I have been walking the block a couple times, you are doing great!
  25. Hey all, 10 days post op and have been having intense muscle cramps. Several times a day. Started yesterday. Back and legs are where they occur. I don't know if I am doing wrong. I am taking my vitamins daily as prescribed, drinking lots of water, my other oral intake is cream soups, jello, diluted sugar free apple juice, yogurt whip, and pudding once a day. Protein shakes times 2 a day. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any one know? Ideas? Thank you =)
