*SCARED* I have a stretched pouch...
Carol59 replied to Malice X Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had 14.25 cc in a VG band and could still eat a lot. Had a flouro and found out that my pouch was stretched and I had esophogitis. Had 6.25cc taken out and when I got home developed sever pain, I guess related to esophogeal spasms, went to the ER and my doc took out the rest of the fluid. After two weeks I started to get refilled. First was last week, I got 4cc and today I got another 1cc. I am scheduled to go back every week until I get to my new proper restriction level which I hope will be no where near as much as I had last time. Will have another upper GI next week also. My doc's office is so ggod about not making me wait too long to get refilled. They said in one month I should be healed. While unfilled for two weeks I had gained 3.5 pounds, this week I lost 3 so I am happy to be losing again. -
Calling all Orange County Housewives
Carol59 replied to angelface's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are many Orange Counties out there. I live just about 10 miles from Orange County, NY but in the eighties I lived in Orange County California while going to college. At that time I lived in Garden Grove. I sure do miss California especially at the end of a NY winter. Where do you live? -
Tristate Bariatrics in Middletown is absolutely wonderful. They have a website tristatebariatrics.com 845-692-8780 Good Luck!

Is there such a thing as 20cc capacity band?
Carol59 replied to Jan_08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The FDA allows for the VG band to be filled to 15cc. -
My doc says the VG band will easily hold 14+cc's. When I started to get over 10 cc's without restriction I was worried also. Now at 12.5cc I am a happy camper!

Hi 6cc's during surgery and now eight months later 12.5 cc's, finally restriction.
-
I had 6cc put in during surgery and eight 1cc fills to get me to (the 12th cc somehow had to be be put in twice)13cc. When I found out about the 6cc during surgery I was elated thinking I was going to have restriction soon but then when it didn't happen I realized having that 6cc for me was like someone else having 0, because the VG band is actually large for my stomach. Not that I was a light weight, my BMI was 44. Anyway, I seem to be the exception. Most people get restriction must sooner........and its great! Take care! Carol

Hi Karen I was concerned at first because at 12cc I didn't really have restriction. Now at 13cc I think I am a bit too tight. Actually at this point I am just glad its working. My doc says that I don't have a lot of fat around my organs and with the larger band it will take more fills to get to the sweet spot. I have heard of people having 14cc comfortably. I have read that the VG band during testing held 110cc before bursting.....don't know how true that was. I may have to have a slight unfill next week because of heartburn and reflux but like I said before I am just happy now that after almost nine months I know its going to work. I have lost 55 pounds since surgery in March but I was using a lot of will power. I am so ready for the band to help me out a little bit more. Good Luck with your restriction! Carol

Hi I had my ninth fill two weeks ago going from 12cc to 13 cc in a VG band. For the first time I know what real restriction is. I cannot eat until late afternoon and I have to be VERY careful to chew well, wait between bites etc. I had my band palced on March 15,2007. I am so glad to finally have restriction, I don't want to have an unfill. Please let us know what you decide. Good Luck! Carol

Hi I had surgery on 3/15/07 with Dr. Kwon's associate Dr. Vinces. I think Tristate Baraiatrics is the absolute best from beginning through aftercare. I am only 8 weeks out and already have 8.5 cc in my band and I am feeling restriction and losing weight. Others wait months to get this far. They have done 800+ bands and have a wonderful program. Please check them further if you are in the Port Jervis area. They also have offices in Middletown and Poughkeepsie. I am a RN and researched this for five years before finding Tristate Bariatrics and deciding to go for it--so glad I did. Good Luck!!! Carol
