WOW!! Thanks for the info! I am so glad that I have been following it to a T... Thank God they were able to do it for her, that would have been horrible if they couldn't do it! We are almost there... I am getting more and more excited! Keep up the good work!

Toyia, I wish you good luck also. I am assuming your big day is 8-9-11 too? We have made it this far ans only have 5 more days to go! We can do this!!!

I had a lot to choose from I have been going back and forth between atkins and slim fast. I do remember seeing carnation instant on my list too. Are you allowed to have diet Water ice? If so, this has helped me some. I get it from Rita's waterice, it tastes just like regular. I wish you the best of luck, you can do it!

That is awesome that you can actually eat on your pre-op. I would die for some veggies or meat right about now!! Good luck with it and hang in there after the first 2-3 days it gets a lot easier.

Thanks... good luck to you too

I am on day 8 of my 14 day diet... I promise it does get easier after the first 2-3 days. Hang in there, if I can do it, anyone can do it! I had a little melt down last night because I got my monthly friend 2 days ago and was pissed off that I could not have piece of chocolate. After some encouraging words from my husband, I decided that I MUST continue. Here I am today feeling fine with my Protein shake, Water and crystal light. One thing that I found helpful was "RITA'S" Water-ice. They have fat-free/sugar-free water-ice. I am allowed to have sugar-free water-ice and that has helped a great deal because it is something I can have while my family is having it! Hang in there!

Sleeve vs. Gastric Bypass
Shell77 replied to LovinLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went to the consultation, I went in thinking about getting the Bypass. They went over all 3, the band, sleeve and bypass. Both the dietian and Dr. told me that the risks with the sleeve were much much lower and the wieght loss difference would only be about 10-15 lbs. and I could lose that on my own. They said it was completely up to me but they wouldn't take on all of the other risks with a bypass just for 10-15lbs. The Dr. also told me that there is a greater chance of having a leak with the bypass because there are several incisions, where as the sleeve only has one. I decided to go with the sleeve and get it done on 8-9-11. You should do what you feel comfortable with and if the Dr. has a problem with it, I would find another Dr. -
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....said the "Not so" little Momma that COULD! Today is day 5 of my pre-op diet and I cannot believe I have made it this far. Day 1 and 2 were extremely hard! To my surprise things have gotten easier!! The most difficult thing for me is preparing meals for my children. It would be so much easier if I did not have to come into contact with food. The second most difficult thing for me is keeping busy. I am a teacher and I have off during the summer. I think it would be so much easier if I had to work. I feel like most of my days revolves around making Breakfast, lunch and dinner and then cleaning up after the meals. Can I say "TORTURE!" My husband works shift work and works between 12-16 hours a day and today is his first day off since I started the pre-op. I am looking forward to having him make the meals today and tomorrow while he is off of work. Today and tomorrow I have family parties and of course parties revolve around food. I know it won't be easy but I refuse to give up now! I am extremely proud of myself that I have made it this far and there ain't no stopping me now! 9 days to go til the big day!! WOOT, WOOT!

Hey Guys, Thanks mememee for adding me to the calendar. I am August 9, 2011 and live in PA. I cannot wait! I don't know what I am more excited about the pre-op diet being over or the surgery, lol. @Debbie... I have been trying to go to sleep early each night of the pre-op diet. It is awesome that u have 7 days, I am on a 14 day diet. It did get easier after day 2, so hang in there, don't give up. I cannot believe the strength that I have to stay on this diet. I just gt back from a family party, I was there from 3:00PM until 11:00PM. There was sooo much food there and it all smelled so good, but I did it! I had my Protein shake and water! I am amazed that I kept control, it was hard but it was not the end of the world. Good Luck!! -
I am a 34 years old and am a teacher in the Philadelphia School District. I am a mother of two beautiful and healthy girls and I am married to their wonderful father. As a teenager, I always struggled with my weight, but never going over 20-25lbs. of what I should have been. When I started teaching I weighed about 155-160 lbs. which was thinner for me. Within the first few months of my new career, I noticed a big change in my physical and mental health. I was always tired, achy, feeling depressed and just didn't feel right. I went to the Dr. with my concerns and after several different tests, I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and Fibromyalgia. I was put on several different medications and gained 65 lbs from January until September. That October I got pregnant and could never get off the weight I put on from the medicine. Over the years I have added to that weight. Diabetes runs in my family and my grandmother passed away from it in May of 2010. I want to be here for my girls and be healthy. I want to have the energy to be a fun mom and enjoy all of the things that they enjoy doing. I do as much as I can with my girls but I know I could be doing even more if I had the energy. I decided to change my life for my children. I am scheduled to get the sleeve on August 9, 2011. I am going to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia Pa. Dr. Beekley who is partners with Dr. Tichansky will be performing the sleeve. Somehow I have found the strength to get me through the first 3 days of the pre-op diet. If I can make it through the next 11 days, then I believe I will be ok. I am really excited about it coming up and just keep trying to think positive about everything. I keep telling my husband to think positive too but he is very worried about the surgery itself. I have decided to put it in God's hands. I am so glad I have a group of people that I can talk to, that understand what I am and will be going through. I hope that I am as successful as many of you have been. I wish all of you continued success and the best of luck.

Surgery 3 days away....
Shell77 replied to AutumnBlueCarmen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Sleeve date is the same as yours!! I am on day 3 of the liquid diet and pray for the strength to continue for the next 11 days! -
I know exactly what you mean and how u feel. Today is day 2 of my 2 week pre-op diet. The only thing I can have is broth, protein shakes, sugar-free popsicles, jello and drinks. Some of the other blogs that I have read talk about eating pudding or doing the atkins diet for the pre-op diet. It seems like they have to do it for only 3 days too, I am not sure why we have to do it for sooooo long. I am assuming that if you are at the same place I am then your sleeve date must be Aug. 9th too? I just pray that I have the strength to get through the next 2 weeks. The hardest part is still preparing meals for my 2 daughters. I will keep you in my prayers that you find the strength to do it. I am so glad I found someone doing the 2 week diet too.
