    Holidays And Food!

Thank you all for reassuring me that i am not alone! I sometimes forget that i have you all to fall back on for this new life... I know we can do it - together! I hope today is a better day in my sleeve! It is the guilt of those items i know i should not have put in my mouth and the "fears" that have beat me down some...I know it will be better becasue they will not be here after today. Also, I know with the rain letting up i will get me back outside and on a walk - that will be the best medicine! Have a wonderful Holiday and thank you all for your words of support!
  2. I was so happy to have my sleeve and be making such great progress when the stalls started to happen-- as i knew it would. I have been at the same weight for a month now. I have been a little depressed with my progress and now the holidays are piling on my mood. I have always comforted my self with food and have fallen back into that zone. Top my heartache with the new finding that holiday treats slide right by this tiny tummy... My realism of the night - the bad foods just seems to slide right through and that makes me scared. I went to the Christmas eve party and found that every appetizer slide right down and my sleeve did not really make a big difference. I know that having a glass of water with it was bad, but i really did not expect it to be sooooooo easy. Now, i feel so guilty about what i have put into my body! SCARED!!! What if i have messed up and stretched out my little tummy? Is my weight loss over? Am i going to gain it all back now? I have not updated my tracker in a long time, it became too depressing since it wouldn't move...
  3. Hi Everyone! I was sleeved on the 1st and have lost 21 pounds so far. I have found that using the egg protein Jay Robb mix is the answer - at least for me - i could not tolerate the whey protein. It taste mild and has no sick after taste. I have the vanilla and chocolate and use high protein milk (fat free) and greek yogurt to make one protein drink a big impact on my protein count. The protein is 24 g for one scoop, 12g for 1 cup of milk and another 2.9g for 2 tablespoons for the greek yogurt. I am only to the pureed stage so i have pureed chicken and added it to some black beans - it does not look pretty but it is nice to have something that is not sweet. I add hot sauce to it too. I still am making sure to drink plenty of fluids, but the "not drinking" while eating could be the hardest part of this entire procedure/lifestyle! I found i could not do the Isopure after surgery due to the taste and consistancy and that was really the only way i was going to get protein during my clear liquids - i just could not do it and at my post op begged for the fat free high protein milk to make my shakes. After that, i have been able to get the 70g+ of protein. I was so glad a friend had told me about the egg white protein as an alternative to the whey - giant difference! I hope this helps some of you, i think the taste is so much better. They have little packets to try without commiting to a big container. I wish you all good luck!

    The need to chew

I feel the same way! If i have to stay on clear liquids after my post op tomorrow i might go insane! I am really hoping he will move me to full liquids so that i can at least have something besides tea, pop sickles and decf coffee!!
  5. thanks for the kind words. I wish you all the best and am here to lend any support i can as we all go through this life change! So far, it has been great to see that 4 days post op is not bad at all!

  6. Glad to see you are doing so well! Keep up the good work!

    Day 3 Post Op

Hi Everyone! I had my sleeve on Monday and so far all is going good. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday after passing a swallow test and taking/keeping fluids down. The first night i was home, i got in the bed for about 3 hours. I decided i did not like it as much as i thought i would and moved to the couch. I felt much better on the couch and it was very easy to get up and down from here. It is strange when you start drinking again. Sips are micro sips you will learn quickly - it is true, gas X stips are your best friend and as soon as you think you have this mastered, you get to day 3 and it ALL is just got so much better! I'm not sure if swelling went down in my sleeve or if i did a bunch of walking (as was instructed) so that i helped relieve the swelling and stiffness of my stomach and abdomen -- I really do not know why, but today is "rounding the bend"! Today has been just great! Don't get me wrong, i am on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks post op so my "greatness" is that i can move easily, shower with out a problem and curl up in my bed with no issues. I have been able to get a good portion of my liquids down today, but that is saying i am hydrated not that i have taking all the protien i need to. So, i guess my take away is that i loved today after the last few days and i will hope that it just keeps getting better from here forward. I can honestly say, it was not that bad but it did have it's moment! LOL I'll check back in again tomorrow and see i make the protien requirements! I am dreaming, but i am going to try tomorrow for the first time to make it happen with Isopure. For those of you still waiting for your surgery, take your pain medication, get up and walk as often as you can and know that each day gets easier. i will be happy to answer any questions about my experience as we go through this life change together.
  9. doing good i guess. I came home last night. Quickly figured out sleeping in the bed was not happening - got on the sofa, much better. I have been able to sip little sips, take my pain meds, and one pill... that's it. I have not made the minimum fluid intake, but i think i am okay. i would like to get more down, but there is just no way yet to do that. Little sips and then a little burb - so pretty!
  10. Hey Sleeve Sister! How ya doing? Hope all is well as we finish up our last day of preop. Keep us posted and I will see you on the losers bench tomorrow!

  11. Are you excited? Tomorrow is it!! Congrats!

  12. Hi Everyone, Well, it is almost here - the day that i have waited so long for - surgery day! I feel like i am at the top of the rollercoaster, just getting ready to go over the edge of the big drop - my stomach has butterflies. I have to admit, I am a little giddy with excitement. This weekend has been the longest in my life. I am scheduled for Monday morning and hope to be home by Tuesday afternoon. I will let you all know how it goes. I will say a prayer for all the VSG champions!!
  13. I'm having mine on Monday, the 1st! I am very excited and anxious...I will spend tomorrow cleaning and packing a bag - then checking the bag 10 times to make sure i did not forget anything LOL I have everything purchased and all lined up for when i get home from the hospital. I just can't wrap my head around the change coming in just a few days - so excited!

I finished all of my pre op tests today and have my pre op tomorrow with the surgeon... i am shocked at how fast the 6 month MSWL went... lost 20 pounds so i feel like i'm already ahead. I guess i am anxious for Monday to come and excited to know my life is about to change so drastically. WOW!
