down over 50lbs. in less than 9 weeks...
ellemarie replied to cutie pie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Girl you are an inspiration!! Way to go, keep on pressing forward, let nothing and no one keep you from finding who you are. Keep up the good work!!! -
I didn't use him but can say that as long as you carefully research your doctor do NOT be scared about going to Mexico for surgery. I used Dr Ortiz and was beyond pleased. I would go back again without hesitation.

Good luck on your information seeking. For me it was a comfortable choice, I was scared of the lapband (multiple allergies) and didn't want the bypass due to recent bowel surgeries. This just seemed like a good fit for me. Best decision I ever made, loved my surgeon and loving my life as a healthier version of who I was.

How do you get your caffeine fix?
ellemarie replied to Ellie4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just got in an order yesterday (I order my coffee off the internet, kcups) of my favorite type that was available in dcaf (green mountain Vermont Country Blend) I am getting ready to pop one in the machine right now...so looking forward to it, hope the decaf is as good as the regular. -
How do you get your caffeine fix?
ellemarie replied to Ellie4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drink iced coffee (only way I like it) but the creamer (nondairy) will stall me every time. I switched to the real creamer and now I am losing AND enjoying my daily cup of coffee. I drink iced tea as well but stick to decaf because I can't handle too much caffeine (my whole life not from surgery) -
Gall Bladder Surgery 9/20/11
ellemarie replied to FlyGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was the easiest surgery I have ever had. As another posted said, I felt better just after surgery than when I went it. I also had a tumor removed on my leg at the same time (4 inch scar) and it was by far worse than my gallbladder. I took it easy on spicy food after because I was so scared to have pain like I had before surgery, but basically I was allowed to eat anything. -
My daughter is taking 2000 of metformin for her PCOS BUT she is having trouble getting those pills in since surgery. Do any of you have any suggestions? Our PCP gave her the extended release but was worried that absorption would not occur due to having less stomach. ANY suggestions would be helpful we are open to try anything at this point. THANKS!!!

how long is the 3 week stall?
ellemarie replied to Sassygirl06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
tamareta, three weeks post op seems to be the most common first stall but there are no rules here. The body just goes into protective mode when IT needs to and then lets go when it finds that starvation isn't happening. Most people go through it from time to time and mostly we encourage each other that it gets better, stay the course. -

how long is the 3 week stall?
ellemarie replied to Sassygirl06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At week three I had a three week stall. Then last week (week 12) I started another stall so far nothing is dropping. . My daughter and I did basically the same she is in the same stall as I am, her first one lasted 2 1/2 weeks and this one started a few days before mine. We both gained two lbs, we don' t like it but know it is temporary. -
On my way to a stingray Liver

You should find that carbs are no longer your friend. I have very few now and my energy level is higher than ever! -
You know you lost weight when
ellemarie replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can answer, "Either is fine with me.", when asked, "Would you like a table or a booth?" -
Don't stress the weight stall they are normal. Milk of mag is gentle and effective, my hubby was given the "black and white cocktail" (milk of mag with some prune juice) post of and had great results, I bought milk of mag for after my surgery but my problem was quite the opposite so I never needed it. good luck and try not to stress.

Congrats on the surgery and the weight loss. It's exciting to be on this side of the surgery and looking forward to a healthier lifestyle. Welcome.

Ground beef isn't my friend yet! Ground turkey seems to go down better. This soup is way thicker BUT way more protein so it is worth it. I would imagine it would keep you feeling full longer as well.

Losing too much too fast
ellemarie replied to LVikingFan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depending on how much you have to lose this can be normal. The more you have to lose early on the faster it comes off at first. You will adjust and the loss will slow, often after a big initial loss you will have a stall sometimes for weeks. -
What was the worst part after surgery ?
ellemarie replied to Dadams2102008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can have water after but in sips at first. For those of us used to gulping it is an adjustment. -
What was the worst part after surgery ?
ellemarie replied to Dadams2102008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter and I both threw up JUST after surgery but we both have always vomited after surgery. It did NOT hurt!! We both had minimal pain, and for me the worst part was that my drain leaked ALL OVER the bed and I had to get up and shower during the night. All in all NOT BAD for a surgery in my opinion. I would never hesitate to have this done it was not bad at all. -
Help, please! Chewable Multi Vitamins are making me sick!
ellemarie replied to sleeved51711's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My neighbor let me try some gummies from Costco they were WONDERFUL but they don't include iron. I am using Centrum chewable right now and I do have to say it is challenging to get them down. I love the Bariatric Advantage Lemon Calcium it is like a starburst, wasn't thrilled with the raspberry or chocolate flavor. -
My daughter and I got sleeved on June 10 and it was the best decision she and I have ever made. We originally went for the plication surgery but the sleeve better met out needs. I wasn't wanting the bypass because of malabsorbtion. We both went to Mexico and had a great experience.

What exactly shrinks the liver???
ellemarie replied to Sheenan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not making your liver process all the "junk" helps it to shrink. Fat and processed foods are tough on the liver...the preop diet makes it so much easier for the surgeon to see and for you to recover. -
Because I was frankly asking a LOT of a piece of fabric and some thread, I am just now seeing a couple of things that are too big. I was packing today for a trip and had two tops that actually looked a bit clownish on me. I was THRILLED but not because they were my favorite shirts! (probably because they were the closest to actually fitting) I am down 42 lbs started at 291 so for me I don't think I will need new clothes for at least 20 more lbs. I too am a little discouraged to not be in a smaller size but it sure does feel good to not have everything hurt when I sit down. Keep up the good work, you will get there!!
