Just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery went great. My doc put in a pain pump that will stay 5 days. Do all doctors do that? I didn't know he was going to do that but am glad he did. He told me to walk as much as possible so I have been up all morning moving around. When should I weigh for the first time?? What is the normal loss??

I had the localized pain pump. It would let meds out every 2 min. I am really glad that I had it because I didn't have to take anything orally. ja9va--I had the same thing happen to me. My insurance only required that I see a dietian for 6 months but didn't require that I lose any weight. My BMI had to be at least 40 with proof of 5 years of documented weights from my doctor. I actually gained about 6 pounds during the 6 month process. Once they submitted it to BCBS TRS Activecare it was approved in 2 days and I had my surgery within 2 weeks. Hey. I was also banded on 4/30 and have been able to gulp Water the whole time with no problems. I called my doctor because I was worried about that and he said everything was fine and that everyone was different. My doctor only required a 1 week liquid diet so I am in mashed potato heaven today. Where were you banded? I hope this helped. I was wondering if i am supposed to be able to feel the port under my skin. I was banded on 4/30 and feel great but am getting a little worried about that. I pressed down pretty hard and don't feel anything. Thanks for your help.

Congratulations!!! I am 4 days post-op and feeling great. I know you are going to do great also. Will be praying for you.

It is an IV in my stomach that releases pain medicine throughout the day. It helps greatly with the pain and cuts down on oral meds. I didn't know that my doctor was putting it in but was glad he did.

Good luck!! My surgery is also scheduled for tomorrow. I have to be in houston at 7:00 for my 9:30 surgery. Very very nervous. I have had all the same thoughts that you have so you are not alone. Everything will go great for both of us. Let us know how everything went. :clap2:

I found out Friday that my surgery would be on tomorrow(4/29) instead of 5/3. I am very excited but am still a little nervous. I gueass I really haven't had time for it to sink in because it has just been two weeks since it was submitted to my insurance. It was submitted on Fri-4/13 and I was approved on Mon 4/17 and the rest is history. Any last words of advice??:help: I have to be at the hospital at 7:00 in the morning.

Congrats on the weight lose and the news from the insurance!! I went for my consult with the surgeon today and they moved my surgery from May 3rd to April 30th. I was very nervous but am very excited now. Anyway, good luck!!

Hello. My name is Jennifer and I am going to be banded on May 3rd. I am 31 years old and have a BMI of 41.5. I live in Shelbyville, Texas with my husband of 14 years and our 2 sons. All of this have really gone fast for me. Everything was submitted to BCBS ActiveCare on 4/9/07 and I called on the morning of the 13th and it was already approved. I meet with my surgeon tomorrow in Nacogdoches. I will be having my surgery in Houston. I am very nervous but very excited. I am glad I foung this site. I have really learned alot. Thanks

I meet with the surgeon today. I was scheduled for May 3rd but it has been moved up to April 30th. My doctor is Clifton Thomas. He is with Obesity Surgery Specialist. My surgery will be at Renaissance Hospital. He doesn't do the pre-op diet, which is fine with me.
