I am in the research phase of my journey. I had gall bladder surgery in 2001 and a hernia repair. In 2002 I had mesh put in for hernia. I don't know how large it is but I wonder if it would keep me from be a candidate for VSG. Anyone have any information to share on this subjet. Thanks in advance.

WOW...reading your post and thinking you are probably post op now. I pray that everything is going well for you. What a huge decision for you to have to make. I hope you will update us when you can. I have joined this board as I research whether I want to pursue this or not. I have always said I wouldn't do it while my kids are young but I'm scared I may not make it until they are grown. I know that I am not being the mother I want to be because of weight issues. Good luck to you and please update us. Prayers~

I completely understand your fears. I have just decided this week that I want to start this journey. I have always said I wouldn't do it while my kids were small because "what if" something happened. Well, "something" is going to happen if I don't do it! I had never heard of VSG until I started researching and it seems like an appealing option. EXCEPT when I realize they are taking my stomach FOREVER! But then when I put in the con's list...the pro's are going to win every time. I am realizing I have some mental issues right now because I keep thinking that I am going to miss "food". I know that sounds sad but I am sure I am not the only one who has thought that.
