Try www.myfitnesspal.com. I'm pre-op but I've been using myfitnesspal to keep track of what I eat. Sure was a wake up call to how many calories, fat grams, carbs- etc. I was actually taking in.

Frustrated with Doctors
Snowbird replied to BroadwayBaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I'm the shortest one here so far. I'm 5'0". At my initial visit with my Dr. in June I weighed 226. I'm now down to 204 and I'm still pre-op. Just following the diet advice I was given. Not really exercising everyday. My question is what would be a realistic weight for someone as short as I am? What do you guys think. My Dr. said he would like me to get to 140. But personally I think I need to be below that. -
When to buy new clothes
Snowbird replied to Brockcrawford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I can't wait till I'm post-op and lost so much weight that my pants fall down. I've lost 23 pounds pre-op by just following my Dr's diet recomendations and my size 20 jeans are pretty baggy. Can't wait till I can wear jeans that actually zip! -
Lady sleevers and "The monthly visitor"
Snowbird posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ladies- Don't know if this has been asked yet but did you weigh yourselves during "that time"? I'm pre-op. Looking to be scheduled in mid-October. I've been following my Dr.'s advice on diet before surgery and have managed to lose 18 lbs. But I noticed during that time of the month I didn't lose at all. But at least I didn't gain. -
Woohoooo! Just got off the phone with customer service at BCBSNC and the rep said I've been approved. I'll get a notice by mail any day now. She said the surgery is approved for the dates between 10-17 and 10-23. I guess it up to my Dr. to decide the date. Does this mean I can't request a different date? Personally I'm glad it will happen sooner than later. It might make it a little harder on my co-workers tho. I work in an elementary lunchroom. When one is out the other workers have extra duties. I hope if all goes well after surgery I can go back in a couple of weeks on light duty. Any sleevers out there who have worked in a cafeteria and know about the work load we have?

No I haven't found out for sure yet. I'll ask as soon as I get a surgery date. I'll probably have to ask someone at the hospital where I'll have the surgery. Sure hope I don't have to cough up the entire 20% before surgery. I'm having mine at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee. They are in-network. I checked before I went to the first seminar in June.

Getting ready for surgery....
Snowbird replied to readingteacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Diane- I'm like you and everybody else on this forum. Same questions. Same fears. I'm still pre-op. My file was sent to my insurance last week. If I am approved I hope to be able to choose a date about mid-December. If your have been given a dietary quideline to follow after surgery try practicing some of it before surgery. At lunch I don't drink. Took some getting used to but I found out that I get full quicker and on less food. I've really been watching my portion sizes. Need to work on sip, sip, sip and chew, chew, chew. Some have said to use a baby spoon while eating. I think I'll try that today. I've already lost the weight my Dr. required for me to lose before surgery so hopefully I wont have to do the all liquid pre-op diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. If you crave certain foods and drinks like bread, Pasta and sodas try cutting back on one or more of them now before surgery. Two years ago after I was diagnosed with HBP I cut out beverages that had caffeine- including sodas and coffee. I was drinking so much coffee and soda that I could feel my heart racing. After the withdrawal headaches were over I don't even like the taste of soda. And now I drink de-caff coffee but not that often. Now I'm working on breads, pasta, and rice. Love those foods! It really hasn't been that bad for me except when it comes to pizza. Love, love, love pizza -
Hello Everybody- Got a call from my ins. rep. at Foothills Weight Loss Center, Maryville, Tennessee. They sent my file in to the insurance today! My question is: If I am approved do I have to pay the total amount of my coinsurance before the surgery? I have BCBSNC. My maximum out of pocket is $700 deductible with $3,210 coinsurance. $600 has been applied to deductible and $311.98 to coinsurance.

Hello Everyone- I'm still pre-op. My Dr. has my folder and hopefully will send it to my insurance next week. My main reason for considering wls is my health. I'm 45, 5'0" and at my heaviest 227 lbs. I was diagnosed with hpb almost 3 years ago. My pcp says I have metabolic syndrome. My hips and knees hurt all the time. I have a 10 year old daughter and when she was younger and asked me to play outside with her I would be so winded in just a few minutes. She doesn't ask me to play anymore. Like some other posters I take all the family pictures so I don't have to be in them. And as far as vanity goes... Around my waist I'm almost as wide as I am tall. I'm tired of my clothes looking like huge squares. If I am approved I hope to be sleeved in December because we get almost 2 weeks off from work.

Soo tired of doctors appointments!
Snowbird replied to wondering1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only been to the seminar and initial consult with the doctor. I live in western North Carolina and am hoping to be approved for the sleeve at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, Tennessee. It takes me a little over 2 hours to get there. Anybody familiar with this area and heard of a stretch of road called "The Dragon"? I have to travel that road to get to the hospital. I'm hoping to get some of my visits combined because of this road.
