assuming there are no complications - 2-3 days sounds right ... I unfortunately caught pneumonia while I was in the hospital (I think my lungs were in bad shape to begin with) and was there for 4 days (although they wanted to keep me longer, I insisted I go home cause I knew I would feel better once home) ... good luck to you -- hope you have a great journey!
-
wow - congrats kwikwits! Sounds like a really successful story! You give me encouragement in that I, too, have been having issues w/solid foods (I'm only 5 mos out) ..... but I know that it will get better in time .... thanks for such an inspiring story!

I had my surgery in NWH in Westchester - Dr. Roslin was my surgeon .. he was great.

my goal is to get as much protein in as possible when having the bars, since I am struggling to meet my daily protein requirements ... which is why I like the Quest ones so much right now ... I haven't found any other bars that have as much protein in them that I like (I tried something called "Pure Protein", but I really didn't like it) ... so right now, the Quest ones are working for me. i'm glad you were able to sell yours. thanks again!

Bye Bye Plus Size Stores!
rosiegirl replied to sunnyd's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats & I totally understand how all of you feel ... I was a size 22/24 just 5 months ago, and now and squeezing into a size 14 ... when I was first able to squeeze into a size 18 jean, i was thrilled! I hadn't worn anything with a fitted waistband for probably 15 years .... it was so thrilling! I never thought I would be able to wear jeans, and now I can't stop myself from buying them (but inexpensive ones - like levis at TJMax or even Calvin Klein's at TJMax, since I know in two months i hopefully will be packing them up & buying next size down - yeah!!!) ... I am totally loving my sleeve! I have packed up all my plus size clothes (some really georgous stuff from Eileen Fisher) and hopefully will have a yard sale and sell fabulously cheap to other plus sized women in the spring! :-) -
I tried two new type of Quest bars today - the cashew coconut and the brownie -- both are great! I think I am a new "convert" to quest bars for the time being ... and I showed one to my nutritionist tonight (and gave a sample to her) and got a big thumbs up ... so I am happy! I want to thank you guys for recommending the Quest bars to me ...

you can always order something like matzo ball soup and just ask for the broth .. no matzo ball ... I usually do that instead of having anything added into the soup ...
-
what kind do you have? I think you have the "natural" ones, correct? I don't think those are the ones I would like -- I seem to like the "original" ones ... (like peanut butter, etc.) ??? let me know ...
-
oh - good to know re: quest.
-
oh - gosh - that's not good (re not losing weight since having quest bars) ... I usually hit a stall at least 1x a month, and don't worry about it since usually a week later, I see the lbs drop off ... but everyone is different. And, as I say, I am not really eating enough as it is, since I am having a hard time meeting requirements just yet, so maybe that, too, has something to do w/why I'm still losing weight (usually only about 1-3 lbs a week) .... let me know how things go w/you ...
-
I bought a package of the p&J ones, but also a few individual ones to try ... the plain peanut butter ones and also the cashew coconut one ... so will try one of each in the days to come ... yes, I understand now what you mean about the texture ... they are "dense" ... kind of like haluvah (sp?) ... I'll see if I get sick of them or if I grow to adore them .. time will tell ... I don't like anything too sweet, and have never been a fan of cookie dough, so not sure I would like the Cinnamon roll ones???
-
I got my quest bars today -- I tried a peanut butter & jelly one -- it was pretty good -- very dense, yes, and it took me like 6 hours to finish a whole bar (I had to keep taking little bites every hour), but all & all, I'm happy with them and am especially delighted w/their protein content. I am just shy of 5 months out and I am having huge problems meeting my protein requirements daily, so am thrilled when I have anything that can add to my protein needs .... so this is great. I will try the coconut cashew one tomorrow ... thanks everyone for all your help w/this.

i haven't gotten mine yet ... I am sitting here having my atkins as I type ... the atkins one I'm eating has only 8 gr of protein, but it's so good ... tastes like a babe ruth ... lots of crunch w/nuts ... I hope I'm not disappointed in the quest ones when I get them .... arghhhh ... so hard to find a good protein bar! thanks for keeping me posted ... i'll let you know when I get mine and what I think of them ....
-
thanks for all the info -- all good to know! Am waiting on my order to arrive! thanks!
-
understood .. have fun!
-
great - can't wait to hear your review. With any luck when, maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll get mine! I have to say, they are a tad expensive though -- didn't you think?
-
I am waiting for mine to arrive ... I'm in NY .. .I ordered the other day too .. did you happen to get any peanut butter & jelly? I am so curious how those are! let me know if you try one of those & how they are! thanks ...
-
let me know which ones you like best ... I ordered the peanut butter & jelly ones ... I'm curious about the other ones though, so let me know which ones you like best. I, too, have been having a hard time finding protein bars that I really like ... as I said, Atkins so far I like best, and Balance Bars - the peanut butter ones - are okay ... but am looking for that perfect protein bar and have yet to find it! So hoping quest works for me too!

so glad to hear all of this -- I have, too, been using the atkins bars since so far they are the tastiest for me ... am now so excited to try Quest ... I hope I like them! Have placed my order tonight so should have by end of week, I guess. Will let you know .... (I also like Cliff bars, but they are fairly high in sugar and low in protein, so I don't actually think they are a wise choice). Thanks again for the Quest suggestion .. I hope I like them!
-
okay - I'm giving Quest a try ... I just ordered some online ... I'm trying the peanut butter & jelly ones .. are those good? Is there someplace other than online that sells them at a better price so I know for next time?

Problems With Protein Drinks? Try These Tricks.
rosiegirl replied to BunnyLove's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
thank you everyone ... I've been adding 1 or 2 spoonfuls of Eddies no sugar ice cream (my nutrionist said 1x a day that is ok) to my milk & some frozen strawberries and then a scoop of Jay Robbs protein powder and have been able to drink that this week, so I am happy ... and I'm still losing weight so I'm even happier! thanks everyone! -
My favorites seem to be Atkins .. they are the tastiest so far for me ... and the balance peanut butter bar is good too ... I didn't like the pure protein bars -- they had a funny taste to me? Atkins came out with a protein bar that my husband and I both say reminds us of a baby ruth type of candy bar .. granted, it's only 9 or 10 gr. of protein, but it's a real treat at night when i feel like having a "treat" .... and I don't feel guilty since it's a protein bar .. :-)

wait time varies depending on insurance; my insurance (GHI) initially denied me and then my doctor had to contact insurance as well as the state, and within 3-4 months I had my surgery ... sometimes it can take longer, sometimes it can take shorter. Be patient .. it will happen and you will be on your way to a healthier you before you know it. Good luck!
