    Desperately seeking advice

Carbs are empty calories... If you are wasting space in your tiny tummy with carbs your body will hold onto those carbs and store them as fat/sugar. The best way to avoid eating those carbs and starches is to not buy them in the first place. Make meal plans for your week and only buy what you need for those meals so you aren't tempted! Focus on eating nutrient rich foods such as lean Proteins and veggies. Cardio will definitely help you see some results but keep in mind that the pounds will come off in waves. You will stall periodically but if you check your results over several weeks time your loss should average out. Of course that's all if you stay on track! I would also recommend looking for a support group to attend and you can learn a lot from the patients you meet there. it helps to have someone you know in person going through the same things! Good luck to you!

    Any regrets?

Sometimes it's best to tell as few people as possible until you've done it. It's your body, and your decision. If their concerns are whether or not you are ready, then show them you are ready. If they are concerned for you health, let them go to a consult or information meeting with you, or a support group even, where they can here stories from others. My own mother desperately tried to convince me not to go through with my surgery and she still doesn't like that I did it, but she CAN now agree that I am in a much better and healthier place in my life!

    Vajay jay question....?!

Guess I could respond to the original thread too... Mine shrunk some. Could be smaller, but it doesn't bother me really! I'm mostly thrilled that I can actually see it myself again for maintenance! I've heard for those having plastics done in that region if you go for a tummy tuck, check the incision lines they plan to use. I know of a surgeon that does a "w" line in an effort to hide the incisions in the creases of the hips/thighs. It cuts into the upper vag region too and the result is a smaller looking bump.

  7. Re: heartburn Try 1/8 teaspoon baking soda in a glass of Water. If you can taste it, use less. Baking soda works great for relieving heart burn/ acid reflux issues! I use the aluminum free baking soda. If you can get your food intake along a more alkaline diet you may experience less heartburn. Also, tuna is good in small quantities, not completely off limits. I am 19 mos PO GS and just found out I'm pregnant this wknd! This was planned, as my surgeon suggests waiting 18 mos before trying to get pregnant. I've been starting my day with a tonic of fresh grated (frozen) ginger steeped in 1 cup of hot water. Add in the juice of one lemon and 1-2 spoonfuls of local unfiltered honey. Started alkalizing my diet in preparation for conception. Hoping for a healthy pregnancy since I lost so much weight before hand!

    Unsupportive mother :(

I'm in the same boat! My mom is totally against my choice to have surgery. She asked me the same thing, "have I tried WeightWatchers?" (yes) but I had to tell her last time I talked to her that I did not want every conversation to become her convincing me not to get my surgery! Even though I know she is responding out of love and concern for my well being. My surgery date is pending right now, prob Aug/Sept. But I'm already on my pre-surgery weight-loss plan. The wheels are in motion and I'm excited even though I'm hungry! I've decided not to give her my actual surgery date since she has already brought so much negative feedback to my plans. I do have many supporters and that makes a huge difference! I think you should get involved with a support group in your area and meet some people who have already gone through the process! Online forums are nice, but nothing beats being face to face with the future you in the form of other WLS success stories!
