Feel off wagon need words of encouragement
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone. I will be celebrating my one year anniversary on June 4th. So far I have lost 84 pounds. The problem is within these past 5 months, I have gained 7 pounds. I keep saying I do not know what wrong with me, but I do know. I have fallen off my new lifestyle wagon and started back doing my old habits. I stopped going to my doctor's appointment, I am back to eating starch and coffee. I tried to make excuses but the reality of it all I have gotten lazy again. My family initially started being supportive and when I let my guard down and let my husband bring the wrong food in the house. I need help with a plan to get back on track. -

4 Months Follow Up
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a blog entry in Ready for the new Lay-Lay's Blog
Well, it is four months today since my surgery!!! Before surgery (April 13) I was 297.7 with a BMI of 45.3. The day of surgery (June 4) I was 283.8-BMI 44. I am now 224.5- BMI 36.2. SOOOOO,I have lost 59.3 since surgery, I have lost a total of 73.2 in 6 months. I did follow up blood work with my PCD, she took me off blood pressure and cholesterol meds. I am also of metformin, I still have to manage my diabetes but only with diet and exercise. Speaking of exercise--I actually like exercising!!!!! funny huh! I had to get in a good routine, I had to make sure exercise is like a perscription med, I must take everyday in order to feel better. Because I travel so much the Y works best for me, whatever city I am in, I go to the Y. I try to make sure I do an hour 3-5 days a week. I am scared because I have tried sampling everything, and I can eat everything, such as fried foods, haven't tried pizza or sweets, those are my weakness. I have decided to not to eat bread, the pasta I eat is whole wheat organic pasta. I am loving salmon, talapia, and halibut!!!! Mixed veggies!!! Also I stopped eating red meat. But my hair is falling out sooooo freaking bad!!!! I take all my vitamins, b12, calcium and vitamin. I bought some biotin 2 weeks ago. Still hair falling out. So my doc told me to increase my protein by eating a steak or something. I told my husband, he was so happy. LOL he was getting so sick of of fish, chicken and turkey. so he made the best steak I ever had!!! still cannot eat a whole meal so I shared with my daughter. I have not told anyone. Only my husband and daughter knows. I still get negative comments from my family after they see the loss. "oh you have lost too much!! you look like you on drugs!!! I know your husband don't like that!!! Stupid stuff like that makes me just want to stay away!! I have better encouragement from people I work with. Thats sad, but hey you cannot pick your family. Because all of my 24/26 and 4x are falling off of me, I had to get new clothes. So I just bought a couple of things. I am in a 16w and 1x---HELL FREAKIN YEAH!!!!!! You should have seen my happy dance in the dressing room!!!! My daughter has stressed me about wearing a dress, I have not worn a dress in almost 3 years. So I tried on a dress, I still don't like how I look in dresses, still fat on my legs and I have still have my rolls. I am not doing weights for my arms and legs. What can I do for my stomach? I know to do crunches/sit ups but is there a better way to do them that works? Also any suggestions with my hair loss? I go to the beautician every 2 weeks. I get my perm every 6 weeks. I think I need to take a break and get some braids. my doc says to lay off any perms or treatment because my hair will stop falling out around the 6 to 8 month mark. I am a black woman that cannot go natural, I don't have patience for the process of growing out my perm. I am headed to get a perm today, lol. -

What Can I Take For My Hair Loss?
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, tomorrow 9/4, I will be 3 monthst post op. I am loosing alot of hair. I am the only one that notice because my hair is soooo thick. But my husband complained about all the hair in the bathroom. At first it was ok because, it is so thick, I am not sweating as much but now it is getting on my nerves!!!!! I asked my doc, he told me to increase my protein intake. I am forcing myself to eat. I still would rather drink my protein smoothies. Is there anything else that I can do to help with this hair loss? any advice is greatly appreciated!!! thanks Lay-Lay -
2 Weeks Post Op! So Far Loving It!
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well it is officially 2 weeks since surgery. I am doing good. Had a problem with ripping my mucsle-OUCH but other than that its been good. I have no regrets. I don't get very hungry. My stomach growls and I know I need to eat. I get really tired. Like today, came home from work and said I was going to take a nap. I slept from 3:30 to 7PM!!!!!!! Dang!!!! B12 is not working....does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get some energy? My scale said 265. So that means that I have lost 18 pounds since my surgery. I am not going to focus on this damn scale so much. I have read so many posts where people are obsessed with the scale. I do not want to be obsessed with the scale. But I think I already am, LOL! I meet with the doctor on Thursday for 2 week check up.I will get my true weight then. Hopefully I will get approved of stage 2 purreed. Don't think I will like that very much. Does anyone have any good pureed recipes???? Well, I enjoy reading everyone posts, They have helped me alot!!! Good luck to everyon on their journey!!!!! The New Lay-Lay -
Did I Make A Mistake In My Clear Liquids Stage?
Ready for the new Lay-Lay replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Called my doc. I have to add Water or juice to my Protein shakes not milk. Ugggh. It is so obvious that all surgeons have different ways to I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks then pureed food. My doc sent an email reminder to me to make sure I stay on clear liquids and I follow everything he says in the book he provided. That book is a HuGE 3 ring binder. lol. Sleeve Bible is what I called it. anyway thanks for all of your post I appreciate the supprt on this site. -
Got Back In Bed.. Felt Like Something Ripped!
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got up to use the restroom and getting back in bed ....I felt something rip on my upper right side. Right by my top incision. The pain was so bad I had to get up and walk around. I felt a little better until I tried to inhale and the now I have sharp pains that comes and goes. Has anyone had this before? I don't want to wake up my husband he just got off work and he is super tired. Everytime I call my doc about something he says that it is unrelated to him and I should call my PCP. Don't know what I should do -
Did I Make A Mistake In My Clear Liquids Stage?
Ready for the new Lay-Lay posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am 4 days post op. feeling good. Some pains. And stiffness but other than that I'm ok. I am on clear liquids until my 2 week check up. This morning I was hungrier than these usual 4 days and make my protein shake with silk soy milk instead of water. I wasn't in pain but I was full drinking 8 oz instead of the 16 I made. That was at 9:30 am. I sipped on water and power ads zero until 4:38. I don't want to call my doc because he went off on me for using a straw!!!! In your first stage how did you make your protein shakes??? Sent from my iPhone using VST -
