Extracts and Sugar-Free Flavor Syrups?
ravenjeh posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Are they permitted in your protein drinks post-op, and if so, how soon after surgery? When I tried the medically supervised diet shakes in the past, I always used different sugar-free syrups and extracts to make the taste a little more exciting. I'm hoping to have surgery in September, so I want to stock up if they are allowed. Thanks! -
what med did they give you post op?

How did you like having the surgery as outpatient? I haven't seen a lot of cases where it's done as outpatient, but that is how my surgeon does it too. For out of towners like myself, he has you stay in a local hotel so that he can make "housecalls" for a couple of days. Did you have any problems right after surgery? -
Is anyone else OBSESSING over getting this sleeve done? It's all I think about!
ravenjeh replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes!!! It's all I think about! I practically eat, breath, and sleep this forum! I only found it a couple of weeks ago, but I have learned soooooo much. I've gone from "Should I get it done?" to "Can I get it done?" to "How soon can I get it done???????", lol. I'm ready to get my life back! -
The bottom just fell out :(

Oh, I'm so sorry things aren't going well for you! I know it's aggravating not having the money on hand to get surgery done and then getting denied by every finance company you find. I've been in a similar situation; considering going to Mexico and still having to save up for a long time for it. I found a Dr. Borland in neighboring Louisiana that does the procedure for only $9800 ($1000 more than Dr. Alvarez in Mexico). My mom was so relieved to hear the news, she has graciously offered to loan me $8000 of it herself (she worried about me going to Mexico). I go next month for my initial visit since I am still saving. I don't know how far away you are from Louisiana, but his fee is pretty affordable and he comes highly recommended. Hope things work out for you! -
How long are you waiting for Surgery?
ravenjeh replied to Papa Jack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I am self-pay so I don't have to jump through insurance hoops. My initial consultation is scheduled for next month since I am still saving up, but they said they usually schedule surgery only 1-2 weeks afterwards! They said they never schedule surgery over a month after the consultation so that all of your lab work, info, etc are current. I guess I am lucky in that I don't have to wait a really long time. -
Thank you! That does help Congrats on your weight loss!

I think God has opened a door :)
ravenjeh replied to ravenjeh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, it does seem that everything is falling into place! I was nervous before calling the doctor's office, (I don't know why, I guess I was afraid it all sounded too good to be true, lol). But I got all of my questions answered and even scheduled the initial visit for next month, since I am still saving up the remainder of the cost. Thank you for the prayers! God has truly answered them for me! -
How exciting! Praying that surgery goes well and uneventful!

Thank you so much for that!! And hey- I just noticed we are from the same neck of the woods; I live in the Jackson area of MS -
Haha, no way! ANY where I go, I have my purse clutched around belly when I sit down! People probably think I'm afraid of getting mugged!

I love this idea! (In no order... I want them all equally!) 1. To not have back rolls under my bra! 2. To not have to be asked "Awwww, how far along are you?" when I don't have any children... 3. To not have a panic attack when someone brings out a camera! 4. To not feel the need to place a pillow in my lap on the couch to "hide" the gut! 5. To not feel the desire to pull my shirt neck up over my chin to hide my "goozle" (or fat chin and neck) haha! 6. I want to be small enough to fit in t-shirts made for women instead of men, so I don't have a tight fit around the waist with the shoulders and sleeves 3/4 down my arms! 7. To not be afraid of my husband's friends seeing me, for fear that they will feel sorry for him! 8. I want to take ballroom dance classes with my husband! 9. I want to be able to buy clothes that I LIKE, rather than what fits and is affordable! 10. I want to be able to wear shorts in public without worrying about my "globby" knees and wide calves! 11. I want my husband to be able to see me in a swimsuit again! 12. To not have to worry about anymore PCOS problems!

Hi guys! I'm not from Louisiana, but I am a neighbor! (Mississippi) I was wondering if anyone had any info on Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia? I've been looking into driving down to Mexico to get the surgery done (my husband and I are terrified of flying) but then I found that for only $1000 more, I could have it done only 4 hours away rather than 13 hours away. I see that he is the Chief of Surgery at the hospital, so that is very comforting too, but I also see that he does the surgery as outpatient and then has you stay in a local hotel so he can make "house calls" to you. Is that safe? I haven't read of any doctors not making you stay 2 days in a hospital, much less only a few hours. Anyway, thanks for info you can give me!

I haven't had my surgery yet (still saving up), but I'm from MS (Jackson area). Hope your surgery went well!
