Dizziness and near fainting upon standing
ravenjeh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 days post op and on full liquids. Yesterday morning, I stood up too fast and nearly passed out. I had black spots in my vision and was very weak. The lethargy lasted all day. Now this morning, the same thing just happened. Vision got dark with a headache. What causes this? Low blood sugar? Low blood pressure? -
I was supposed to start full liquids on day 8. Day 7, I went ahead and had some Campbell's Tomato Soup. It was sooooo good. But, I was freaking out that I probably had developed a leak because of it, lol. I think you'll be ok with only a teaspoon or so of apple sauce. I know what you mean about feeling weak. Today I almost fainted and spent the rest of the day listless and dizzy. I drank another protein shake and started feeling a little better. Hope tomorrow is better for you!

I was just sleeved last week, and I can tell you that just about everytime I take a sip, I can feel a air bubble fizz up to my throat as the liquid goes down. Almost like it's trying to make room for the incoming liquid. I can't see how a bubble would just stay there and not try to escape. I don't think you have anything to worry about

Totally unrelated to VSG - but I have to share!
ravenjeh replied to Nancy Rivers's topic in The Lounge
Oh, how exciting! I love Terry Goodkind too!! I was going to enter in those contests, but just never got around to it. -
Yep, last night I dreamed that I was back to my old ways of just cheating a little on my diet. I went to Subway and got a footlong and then polished it off with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I was telling myself that cheating one meal wouldn't kill me and then I remembered- I'm supposed to be on clear liquids only! I started freaking out that I was going to have a leak and then I woke up... with horrible reflux, too. My mind is trying to sabotage me, lol

5.5 days after surgery ... ouch!!
ravenjeh replied to rosiegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you still on clear liquids only? If so, that is probably why you are still hungry all the time. I'm 4 days post-op and I'm staving or having gas/ burp issues all the times. Clear broth isn't filling unfortunately. I can't wait until I can have a protein shake! (Strange to say, lol) -
I'm finally getting sleeved tomorrow at 10:00, which means I have to be at the hospital at 9:15. Since I live in a neighboring state, we will leave at 3 am to drive there. So, driving 250 miles with nothing to drink since it's after midnight. Yikes! My main concern right now is trying to drink this Magnesium Citrate. It took almost an hour to drink the first bottle- thankfully, I did not vomit. But I have one more bottle to drink in another hour. Anyway, I'm babbling right now because I'm nervous, hehe. Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's advice and support and see you guys on the other side of the loser's bench!

Oh, you poor thing! You must be so extremely thirsty! I hope they let you have something soon. Definitely praying for you. Oh, and don't feel bad about the gas-x strips- they didn't do a thing for me.

Shoulder pain after surgery
ravenjeh replied to stellasmommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was just sleeved the day after you, Stellasmommy, and the Gas-x strips didn't do anything for me. My dr. told me to lay off the Lortab and take liquid tylenol if I could, because the strong pain killers kinda make your bowels stop working. He said once all of your plumbing is working properly, you should be able to "pass" it . So far that has helped, but still have some pain/pressure left. Hope you get better! -
Well, I was nauseous for the first day, butnow this gas pain is by far worse. I've been eating gas x strips and had the heating to no avail. The dr said to try going without my Lortab to get my bowels working again so the gas can "get out" that way (sorry tmi!). So far that hasn't worked either. Now I'm headed home- only 4.5 hours away!

How are yesterday's sleevers doing? My surgery went well. I've had a lot of nausea, but thankfully have not vomited. Unfortunately, I have had the hiccups twice- ouch! I was in a lot of pain yesterday, but I realized that my pain this morning is hunger. The hubby is heating up some broth right now. Hope everyone is doing well

Thanks, guys! And good luck to you too, Zoe!! I just got checked in here and now waiting to be take back! Not too nervous, but starving and really thirsty! Lol

I've been wondering if my gallbladder is acting up. For the past few weeks I've been feeling a pain (not severe) behind my right breast, a little toward the center of my chest. It only lasts a few seconds, but will usually happen several times a day- more than that today. Since I am having VSG the day after tomorrow, I'm curious if the dr would go ahead and take it out if it looks bad. But since I am self-pay (and have already paid) I don't know if he would take it out for "free" or would bill me later for it... Maybe I'm just nervous and thinking too hard, lol.

I took before pics...
ravenjeh replied to A New Day's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, me too- those darn back rolls! Lol! I took my measurements at the same time as my before pics and they were more shocking than the pics -
Good luck to you! I'm one day behind you and I am almost overwhelmed with anxiety and excitement. Here's to our new, healthy lives!

Oh my goodness... God bless you because I don't think I could live without splenda!! Good luck to you too!

I'm a fellow 9/27 sleever too . My dr. has me on strictly clear liquids for the first week post op, Tinacasa. I was a little surprised too, since I hear of a lot of sleevers drinking protein shakes the next day. I've been a little worried about not having any protein for a week. I'm prepared to not have any energy. As far as the surgery length, I believe my dr. said 1 to 1 1/2 hours. My only pre-op diet is clear liquids the day before surgery (tomorrow!). It's almost 11 pm and my husband is stopping by the store on the way home from work for one last treat, hehe.

Hey Mrs SoMiss! I'm in florence, a few miles south of Jackson. I'm so glad there are finally MS sleevers here! Flower: Thank you so much for the "pep talk"! I leave tomorrow to travel to Lousiana to get sleeved and I am super nervous. But I am super excited too. I'm so glad you have had such great results!

Congrats on the first day of the rest of your life! You will do great! Keep us updated!!

Pre Op Diet- No diet at all?
ravenjeh replied to AutumnArmyWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr also only requirements a 1 day pre op liquid diet. I was really confused about this too, but the nurse told me he does that because "if you could go on a very strict diet for 2 weeks, then you wouldn't need the surgery", lol. He does this for all his patients (I'm a 40 bmi, btw). Hope this helps! -
Kneeling and Getting back up
ravenjeh replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, I know that feels great! I had to take a CPR class last week, and when I knelt over the mannequin, I was not able to hold all my weight up while pinching the nose at the same time- I never could get the mannequin to "breathe". My thighs were to big to properly kneel and my gut was hanging down in the way. Very uncomfortable. I can't wait to be where you are! -
Congrats on Onederland! You'll be at goal in no time!

Wow! You look so great! I just love before and after photos
