Never feel bad about asking a question..We have all fumbled around on here untill we felt brave enough to post for the first time and ask questions... Welcome to band land!!!

i'm guessing that if he saw your scars you are more than just casual dating.... I would tell him about it the next time he "sees" your scars. Just let him know how much it means to you that he is concerned about your health and that you appreciate his support. Or just keep those scars covered untill the wedding night and tell him then..

why do we have to ancell the idea Lisa?? I loke the idea of sending a SMALL gift less than 10 including postage to the biggest looser!! Lets do that!!! OK now I'm really motivated!! I do not have any adults to buy gifts for me...I want presents from strangers!!! You guys all know we ARE strange right, some of us stranger than others..lol -
i would also wait to see if you are approved before aking out a loan. I agree that it is in Capitol One's interest to have you go ahead and sign the papers. If they approved you they will again. Wait untill you hear from the insurance company till you tke a huge financial hit like that!! Plus, you are going to need that 400 a month to go buy clothes!!

I like Porc have had a hard December, very stressful having your first single again Christmas.. I have not lost a pound in 3 weeks but can also hardly eat.....WHTS UP EITH THAT?!?! I have found out like of you guys tht stress makes it harder to eat and the only thing I can "eat" is a shake. Who else is sick of protiene shakes?? hahah As far as my actual weight loss... down 50 pounds!!! Yeah for me!!! I will say that I am jealous of all the peoplw who lost so much more than I have. It gets very discouraging some days and makes me depressed. At least with my band I cannot go eat from the depression. Somedays I do miss my oreos Glad to hear everyone is making progress with our new lives. Keep it up guys!!! One year from now we will all be wearing those cute little slinky holiday dresses and showing our collar bones!!!

Jacqui, where are you from?? Canada? or Australia? I wish we had community health, I know most Americans do not like it but I grew up in the military and that is what we had so I'm used to it and you actually get excellent care because the Dr. is just there to make sure you are healthy!! He is not there to get rich and buy his weekend home off of your need or non need for extra tests can you tell i'm a little jaded here guys?? Good topic for a pool though interesting results.. What I want to know is if the people who went to places like Sweeden are including air and hotel fees in their total... -
Heather you are a riot!! Thanks for the laugh even though it was painful!!lol I did not have a PB yesterday, I had one this morning!! I ate part of a cookie and boy was that a mistake!!! only ate 2 bites of ham, and bite of veggies yesterday. I could tell if I ate anymore I would be praying to the porcelain god again so.... I quit and fixeda protiene drink about an hour later...YE HAW!! My favorite Christmas Meal what a time honored family tradition

HOLY COW!!! 4 hygenists!!! That is a big office!! I think you gus are close to me if I remember right, arent you in the Dallas area?? I am in Sachse. What Office does she work in? Most people will think I am weird but I actually miss doing a lot of stuff by hand. I even liked doing the peg board!! ( for those of you who do not know what that is, it is the accounting method of posting patient charges and payments, all by hand on a ledger..very time consuming but I loved it!) How is Joys diet going? Have you started the count down yet??

count me in Keri!! Let us know where and when!! -
dody, I hate to disagree with you about this, you are confusing 2 different issues in your posts, you cannot get endocarditis after being banded and not taking antibiotics. Endocarditis is a heart condition while what we, as dental professionals, are concerned with when it comes to implants, ie your band, is an infection around it causing possible rejection and more surg. You are ABSOULTLY correct that if you do have any leaky valvs in your heart you MUST take meds prior to having dental treatment . I hope this clears up any confusion all may have about taking antibiotics prior to dental treatment. You will not get a heart conditin from not taking it after having your band placed, you COULD get an infection around your port or band and why take the chance when all you have to so to prevent this is take 4 tablets 1 hour before seeing your dentist.

i would suggest getting the ring 1 or 2 sizes smaller than you wear right now. when you loose weight you can go have sizing balls put on the inside of the shank portion of the ring, this way they do not cut the ring and there is less chance of damage. all they do is solder a small drop of gold to the inside of the band, it is weird feeling at first but you get used to it and the ring is spared. Good luck!!

Gentle, Do not worry about being allergic, If there is ANy antibiotic that you can take it will usually work. I am allergic to penicilin and have to take clindamycin, which is of course more expensive...Just my luck!! Msjoy, wht do you do in the dental office?? I have been an assistant and office manager for 22 years now and still love it as much today as I did when I went to school!!
-
OK guys, comming from a dental professionals point of view, here is the rational for ab therapy... any time you have a foreign object placed in your body it is the most likely place to get an infectin. your mouth is the biggest incubator for bacteria you have ever seen. When you have your teeth cleaned the bacteria is stirred up and is introduced into your blood stream, and can "rest" around your port or the band its self. Not all Dentists are concerned abut this happening because the statics for anything happening, and this includes artificial joints, is so low. And then there are some dentists who are a LOT over the top and will not even touch you if you have had any surg in the last 6 months. Imho if your DDS is like that, ask your surg and go by HIS recommendatins, take a letter to your DDS so they can still see you. This has nothing to do with endocarditis which is a condition which arises from a heart murmur due to a leaky heart valve, most people do not even know they have it unless your MD tells you. It is called Mitral Valve Prolapse, MVP, and NEVER go to a dental appointment without taking your antibiotic, This condition can cause death while implants, including your band, will just fail if you get an infection. and require more surg or other treatment. As far as someone lambasting you about this subject, maybe they are not very educated about the dangers of dental work on medically compromised patients. Just make sure you listen to YOUR doctors and do what they say and all will be good!!

Andrea, It took me about 4 days after my first fill to feel the restriction, and even then it was ver minimal. You very well may be eating to fast or still be taking to large of bites. I have noticed that if I take 1 bit to my daughters 3 it is about the correct ration of speed for MY body. Just take it easier and dont be in a hugh rush to get taht tight feeling...it really is not fun!! -
