Two people DYING recently in Mexico on the operating table??
Pinkbetty posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
OK, this scares me. I was all for Almanza, even though I'm not thrilled with my choice. I'm hoping to make it out of the cattle call and be healthy and move on after the 3 days. I was considering Dr. Kelly, but now I'm hearing about deaths. I'd LOVEEEE Aceves, but he's just too expensive. Is there any middle ground Doctor in TJ who does a decent job? This scares me.... I always heard great things about Dr. Kelly. -
Acid, Acid, More Acid.. Constant Gnawing Feeling In Stomach
Pinkbetty posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I had surgery in Mexico in August. There is ALWAYS this hunger/ gnawing feeling. It was horrible the first day out of surgery..At the time I thought it was hunger pains, but learned it was acid. I've tried Prilosec, Zantac, you name it. But the gnawing comes and goes. Is this an ucler? Do I need an upper GI? Anyone else have this prob? THANK You all so much for reading!!! -
Acid, Acid, More Acid.. Constant Gnawing Feeling In Stomach
Pinkbetty replied to Pinkbetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! No, I didn't know that about Prilosec. Good to know about the erosion! I'll have to get that checked out. Thanks!! -
Krista, BELIEVE in yourself. I was in a NIGHTMARE relationship and will forever have the guy around, as I had a child with him. I did this weight loss surgery for myself in Aug and have never looked back. 45 pounds down, I feel like a new person. I'm starting to go online to the dating sites and whatnot and am still afraid to write the "cute" people. It's all about how you feel--- an attitude--- you DESERVE it. Whatever it may be in a man.. Go out and get it!!! I hope that philosophy works for me as well one day! Go for it! But again, it all boils down to YOU. Believe in yourself....

Hello! It seems like I'm always starving and when I eat a bite of cottage cheese, it just hurts going down. Were you all still on the broth stage at this point? Thanks!

Why did you choose the sleeve vs. bypass?
Pinkbetty posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! So, for me, this is kinda after the fact, since I am sleeved, but why did you all choose the sleeve vs. gastric bypass? They re-route your intestines for bypass, correct? Just curious why in your opinion, the sleeve is better than the bypass. Thanks!! (My friend's mom just did the bypass and it got my wheels in the brain turning.) -

Thanks everyone! I'll sound more educated now when people ask me. All I knew is that it sounded more dangerous and that it was more pricey. Haha. -
What did everyone take to work with them that first week back at work? (food wise)
Pinkbetty posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hi! Not sure what to take with me when I go back to work. Protein shakes and water? Gatorade? Pureed soup I guess wouldn't be hard to take with you. -

I'm also five weeks out and kinda hate life. Eating was ENJOYABLE before. I look at everyone longingly that they can actually eat yummy food. I'm so tired on the weekends that I'm basically worthless and just wait for me and my son's naptime! I hope this passes soon. -
It's official. I'm sick.

What to take for headaches? Cramps?
Pinkbetty posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello again party people! I know Dr Kelly said no advil or anything like that. Umm, so I guess Tylenol is the only option, correct? I forgot to ask! All of these questions seem to come as I trod along.. Baby steps! Thanks!! -
My Family Will Not Support My Decision
Pinkbetty replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My Ex YELLED and screamed at me for WEEKS, months , years, and now, after Ive gone to Mexico. My parents have no idea I went. I lied and said I had to work that week and couldnt find daycare. Thank God my friends were 1000000 percent supportive. So, I feel you. My mother said the same kind of thing.... "you eat less with surgery, right, so why not do that without surgery"? They'd FREAK if they knew. Will I ever tell them? Sure, when Im thin and hot... But not now. So, I feel you. Hang in there. You need to do what's right for YOU. Sorry about the loan thing. I did mine on a credit card and did Dr Kelly , so he was a little less. But you'll find a way. Where there's a will.. there's a way! -
Let's get this singles forum going!
Pinkbetty replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aussie, I am 33 and am single. Was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I'm in your boat, sister! Cant wait to see what the future brings!! Bring it on, right?! But yeah, I mean I'll admit it scares me. I did this for ME and my son.. but you KNOW in the back of my mind I'll always think the chances after surgery to meet a decent guy should be better! Ya know? And what if they're not? A total disappointment. We shall see.... -

EXACLTY. Everything but popsicles sit in my throat. I'll try the pureed chili. Good idea! Hot chocolate at work seems to be my friend also. And that's about it. Thanks for the tips! -
Dr. Kelly and his staff are AWESOME! (Am writing from the hotel in TJ)
Pinkbetty posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi all! So I had agonized between Dr Kelly and Dr Almanza. Of course, I can't speak for Almanza, but as I am in TJ as we speak, Dr. Kelly and his staff have been AWESOOOOMMMMEEEE!
My first thought meeting the driver, Ricardo, was... Umm, what if the website was a set up? What if he's taking me to a torture chamber? WHO is this man and where am I going? I was thinking that I was clearly insane.
The hospital was like at home, and Dr Kelly, like everyone on here has said, is caring and compassionate. As I was rolled into surgery.. I am down here ALONE.. BTW.. And was TERRIFIED.. thinking-- WHAT THE HECK DID I DO?? MAYBE I SHOULD RUN OFF THIS TABLE, out of the hospital, alone, with nothing but my backless gown and my fat a++ and roll down a TJ hill somewhere and pray I somehow find my car over the border. But No, I laughed as I got rolled in (the nerves....) and stared at the giant surgery lights. Dr. Kelly patted me on the head and told me I'd be fine. Hey, a guy was in there before me who was 600 pounds, so I felt decent about it. I wake up in a haze thinking- WHAT did I just do? Am I insane? All the gas pains and nasuea. Anyways, By that night though, I felt better. The nurses were WONDERFUL and Ive seen Dr Kelly a bunch. I'm now in their hotel that they discharge you to.... After I did the lovely leak test this morning. It's not that bad though! Anyways, I know I was a lurker who came on here and was super scared of every aspect, but so far, so good. BTW- the hotel is VERY nice and has a lovely pool and drinks (sad sad), and also has a nice flat screen in each room. DR KELLY ROCKS!!! -
I thought it was something like 30-35 percent gain the weight back?

Just got sleeved with my HERO, Dr. Kelly! Anyone else in the area? He was saying I should attend meetings? Does anyone do this? A buddy/ buddies would be great!
