    Scars

Wow that is awesome if your smaller scars are almost invisible. Maybe their is hope to wear at least a tankini lol. Really that is the least of my worrys. But good to know your scars are fading so fast. Gives me hope. ***If the worst thing that happens through all this is my scars showing-- i am in great shape--:clap2:

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

One of my biggest problems is pb ing to much. I guess it is because food gets stuck. I've really had to concentrate on eating slowwwwly and taking baby bites. I think it is a viscious cycle. We get food stuck and it irritates the area making it swell if we don't let it rest we will keep getting food stuck and for me PB. I can't figure out the right combination. I am trying to take it is for a couple of days of liquid. Do you exercise at all. I know exercise is a BIG part of my losing weight. Janed

    Scars

I used Maderma on another scar and it worked great. I was banded on 1-19-07 and used Maderma(sp). I think you use it on fresh scars for 4 weeks. I still notice them, but they are not too pink. Can anyone attest to them fading to not noticing them much at all???

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

-Hi my name is Jane D. I was banded in Mexico on 1-19-07 and weighed 212. I am now down to 183. I have had one fill in March, 2cc. I am female 39 and waiting to enjoy the rest of my life!! My starting BMI was 34.2 and I think it is 29.9 right now.
  5. Renee- Who wants to live their lives constantly battling weight, not ME. I'm 39 and also had a low BMI.But I just got tired of the fight. Up and down- this gives me hope for my future. I've wasted enough time. I wish I had this done 10 years ago, but who knew???? You will just have to go with what feels right for you and whether he supports you or not will be his choice. You don't need to twist his arm to make him understand- he either does or doesn't. When I had the surgery done (in Mexico 1-19-07) I didn' tell ANYONE. Well I did tell one very good friend just in case something happened. She is not a judgemental person so i knew i wouldn't have problems with her. But everyone else - I just didn't feel I would need to explain myself and I know everyone would have been wanting answers. Telling me whats best, how to diet, the risks, the money, etc,,,,,,,,,,,, You only know how you feel. Good luck. If you do decide to go through with it you will be fine. I will tell you that several people including myself feel like 'OH no what have I done to myself" right after surgery. Kind of like buyers remorse. But you will bounce right back!!! Janed

    Softball and the lap band

I was playing tennis 2 weeks after surgery. It is a very quick recovery. I know tennis is not as rugged as softball, but to play singles it is alot of movement.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I was banded in Monterray by Dr. de le Garza. It was $8000.00 and I paid for the air fair which was another $500. He was great! The hospital and everyone on the staff were wonderful. I would recommend him, but I know some people are very skeptical of going to Mexico. I went by myself, and had NO PROBLEMS. I left on a Thursday, surgery on friday- shopped for about 6 hours on saturday. I flew back sunday morning and was at work on Monday. BMI 34.5 Banded 1-19-2007 Weight when banded 212 1st fill on 3-6-2007 2cc current 183 goal 150:clap2: Jane D

    Fill/restriction question

Gretchen, I was banded on 1-19-2007 and filled March 6th. I seem to have the same problem. I think my restriction has loosened some b/c i have lost weight.I have also had to use some discipline(which i usually don't have) and make myself eat only a small amount. I do PB quite a bit, and I think part of it is due to eating too fast and not chewing enough. I'm getting much better. I think, at least for me, getting stuck is because I don't chew enough and eat too fast. I am now constantly reminding myself when I eat "baby bites". I've also caught on to my body signals. If I start to hicup, I may have already eaten to much. I guess I'd rather under eat so I don't PB and then eat a snack if I am hungry again. I've actually had a better weight loss when I can eat and keep it down. I would say the sweet spot, is to be able to know just how much to eat before you feel uncomfortable and this will be different for everyone. You may also have days where you can eat more than others. I hope this may help a little. Jane D
  10. Courtney, I just read your post about how you PB almost everyday no matter what you eat. I have the same problem. I think it is getting better since I have lost 15lbs and my restriction is less, or maybe I'm learning my body signals. How bad is it to PB. Does anyone know??? Will it cause band slippage or would you have to be really vomiting????
  11. Julie, I felt very similiar to you. The shoulder pain will go away. Mine took about 2 weeks, and has never come back. I think is is just trapped gas, air from the surgery. For now, you are just kind of in the limbo phase. All your problems and doubts will pass.At least mine did. It was like buyers remorse...lol.Good luck it does get better. I was playing tennis 2 weeks after surgery. jane d

My nightmare journey with a band

Just about anything except liquids. chicken, tuna steak,(not tuna fish in can), salads. Its very odd, becuase one day I ate spinach salad just fine, and then the next time - pb. Over the weekend to my suprise I at 2 nachos and a bowl of soup with no problem. I also was able to eat a piece of cod and okra with no problem. But then yesterday I tried shrimp and it actually burned once I swallowed and came up. Yesterday I ate a very small amount of salad and 2 tiny pieces of cheese pizza and had no problem. Very suprised. I guess i should just stick to liquids. Part of me was thinking the band was too tight, but then I wouldn't be able to hold anything down. any suggestions?

My nightmare journey with a band

Hi - I was banded in Mexico on Jan. 19th 2007.As far as I know I am not having any problems. I do want to see if anyone out there is experiencing what I am. 5 weeks after getting my band I had my first fill with 2cc. Sometimes I can eat and I am okay other times I just can't hold the food and it just comes up. Can somebody give me a very exact measurement of what they can eat, even when the band is tight. I hope I have not caused the band to slip or have pouch dilation. Surgery 1-19-2007 212 / 186
