You definitely need to tell the doc that half of your stomach is a staple line and taking something that could potentially wear that away is an issue. However, if you're only taking 1 pill a day you should be just fine, it's continuous use over long periods of time that can cause harm. But again, check with him ASAP.

Protein powder
Mari_Sem replied to shelbyschroepfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am extremely picky about Protein powder, if it tastes weird or has an off texture I will literally throw it back up. With that said, I order solgar or biochem brands off iherb (I think shipping is free in the US, I'm currently in Korea). I also like to mix my protein with my coffee in morning, just make sure the Water isn't too hot! -
You're not the only one; I was thinking about cancelling the surgery right up till they were putting me under! Fear is normal, you are about to make an enormous and permanent change in your life. For me, the VSG hurt, it hurt a lot, I could feel the suture line on my stomach and the anesthesia made me sick so I was puking on top of the pain. But after those first few days things got quickly better. If you are following the pre-op procedures and aren't deathly ill, the chances of anything bad happening during surgery are close to nil. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and know that you're not the only one who has gone through this, we're with you!!

My bariatric surgeon recommended a specific brand of powder Vitamins for me to use for the first year after surgery. But now I had a Vitamin supplement pill twice a day. Maybe yours will also have something they want you to take. You should not be swallowing any pills directly after surgery, I recommend going to your doctor and asking them to change the RX to a swallowable kind.

Finished the first day of the 30 day shred, my muscles feel a bit jellified. (Also feel free to give me lots of crap and make sure I'm keeping on with this regimen!

The answer appears to be yes, you need a passport. http://gomexico.about.com/od/entryrequirements/f/need_passport.htm The article is also saying you can used an enhanced driver's license. We have those in Washington state for faster Canada border crossing. But they take just as long as getting a passport (you have to go to a person to person interview). Best of luck!

The label on the Protein supplement should make it clear if it's protein isolate or not. Here is a list of protein supplements specifically with isolates in them: http://www.iherb.com/search?kw=protein%20isolate#p=1 Hope it helps!

Pre Pre-op diet :)
Mari_Sem replied to startingtolivenow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For a few weeks after I was sleeved I had vivid dreams about food, so believe me you're not the only one who has gone through food withdrawal. Even a few years out I still feel "nostalgia" about certain junk foods, but the desire to eat them quickly fades. Once I started my pre-op diet something in me changed, I stuck to that diet religiously because I knew that that time is was for real, and getting my liver the right size could literally mean life or death for me. You're stronger than you think you are, you'll come out of this on the other side. I guarantee it. -
Best of luck! Soon you'll be part of the sleever's club.

Is it Possible to Lose too Quickly?
Mari_Sem replied to Mom2IrishTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 26 and I have loose skin around my arms and stomach that is very aparant, I plan to have a tummy tuck this year, but I'm still undecided about my arms. -
Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. Take a close look at the materials they gave and really do some soul searching. It took me close to two years of debating with myself before I finally decided to have the surgery. Take your time.

Mari_Sem replied to Mom2IrishTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was loosing about a pound a day as well for the first month or two after the surgery. It'll start to slow down, but for right now enjoy the quick weight loss but remember a lot of that weight is fluids, so drink lots of water!!! -

Congratulations! Welcome to the sleevers club. Just make sure to work on getting your fluids in! Dehydration can sneak up on you and cause serious problems! -
Question about seasickness and the sleeve
Mari_Sem replied to Dooter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As someone who also gets motions sickness I can tell you that the sleeve did nothing to help (or hinder) my motion sickness. Sea-sickness isn't about your stomach it's about your head, if you got sea sick before you'll still get sea-sick now. Make sure to get a prescription for something like transderm scop before going out on a seafaring adventure. -
How long till Nausea went away?
Mari_Sem replied to asherje's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt nauseated for a few MONTHS after the surgery, in fact, I feel like I've become more inclined to feeling nauseated post-sleeving. You can always talk to your doctor to give you a RX for nauseousness, and I would definitely let them know about the pain! -
Magical creme or lotion?
Mari_Sem replied to Beckyyb93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use regular lubriderm and it's helped some what with stretch marks. Though cetafil is alway good (but expensive). -
