Time to stop in and give an update. Been about a month since I posted and weight loss has slowed. I'm actually glad because at the rate I was losing it was concerning me. I'm now at 192!!!!. If someone had told me 4 months ago that before the end of the year I would weigh in the 180's I would have laughed. I should be there before Xmas. I have my life back and I am so grateful for this surgery and dr. Kim. Best 12 grand I ever spent.

For those of you scared half to death your gonna croak on the table all I can say is we almost all go thru that. Most won't say it but it's true. The chances of you dying from this surgery are almost zero. the chance of you dying in a car wreck on the way is what should have you worried. Lol. Your worry is normal.

Ok it's been a while but it's time fir an update. This morning I finally made it. 196!!!!. 3 months almost to the day and almost 70 lbs. I'm wearing a 34 waist Jean. Greatest thing vie ever done for myself. I feel freaking great.

I know what you guys that are heading into this are feeling. It's scary as hell. Elective surgery that has risks. Your putting yourself at a small risk to get your life back. IMHO it's worth it especially if your suffering from risk factors with kids. I ran a half mile tonight in 7 minutes without stopping. I know that's not breakneck speed but two months ago I couldn't sprint to first base playing softball without sucking air. A lady I havnt seen since before my surgery told me I looked like I was melting I had lost so much weight so quickly. Damn I feel good. Sleep apnea is still messing with me but hopefully it will get better. I'm in a 36 Jean down from a 40 just 1 month ago. I honestly hope it slows down just a little. Lol

I have a thread in the tell your story area but since I'm post op I thought I would be presumptuous enough even this early to say so far it's been a success. I am post op 6 days and between my prep diet and since sleeved I am down 26 lbs from 258 to 232. My surgery was done more for risk factors than being really obese. Due to that this was a tough decision for me but boy I already feel so freaking good. Can't wait to feel what 190 feels like.

Update time. It's funny how just a short time ago I was the new guy looking for help and now here I am offering encouragement. Make no mistake. For most of you the surgery and right after it will be no cake walk but let me also tell you this. IT WORKS!!!!! my surgery was July 21 and I weighed aprox 250. Now I don't know what the norm is but here it is less than a month and I'm at 215. I'm still more than a week from being able to eat normal unblended food. Dr Kim is tougher than most. Yes I miss the food at times but pretty soon I will be able to eat again although much less of course. I'm glad I did this and I already feel better than I have in years. My doctor has already taken me off of my blood pressure and sugar meeds. Unreal isn't it? Less than a month folks. At this rate I may be 180 before October. Like I said....unreal. Be excited new people and do what your doc tells you to do.

Ok I have waited to make a post so the first post surgery comments would not be knee jerk. I appreciate Chris comments as everyones. Chris kinda hit home. Surgery was rough for me. Kept me an extra day. First day I was convinced I had ruined my life. Friday I was 90% convinced I was ruined Lol. Came home Saturday feeling pretty bad with a fever. Yesterday I turned the corner and actually had a big old tough Texan cry by myself in a closet. I did this for my kids and my wife. Maybe I shouldn't feel that way but it's the truth. It's now Monday as I'm typing this and I'm now feeling much much better. I don't know where this road ultimately leads but I'm allowing some tempered excitement to enter my thought process. This thread started with a scared to death big old guy that was going to tell it like it is. The good the bad and the ugly. I will continue to be honest with how my sleeve journey is going. It is early and I am not sold yet but due to a lot of kind and loving people here I got thru the surgery. So how do I feel now. Hopeful and excited but tempered with several negative emotions I'm just going to have to work thru.

Surgery tomorrow morning at 9. Hope I can soon join all of the success stories here. I'm very nervous.

Surgery this Thursday. Down to 247. Wondering if there are any guys here under 6 foot that did this when under 250? Should I really be doing this with under 70 to lose?
-
Very kind of you. She is doing better. 10 days to go. I have cheated a little during the prep diet. A chicken breast every other night. I'm dying of hunger. 10 days until surgery and I'm going to do my best to go liquid only the rest of the way. I honestly don't think I will have any issues after surgery cause I would be scared to screw something up but this 3 week thing is brutal.

Lol. That's great Jane. You got more "guts" than I do.

Mine is at forest park the day after yours. I had my pre-op today at forest park and man was I impressed. It's a private hospital and I was just blown away by everyone I encountered. Due to how I was treated there today I'm actually feeling better about this for the first time. Top notch service folks. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel. I made a comment before leaving how impressed I was and a young girl that did my chest xray said that working there is wonderful and not easy to pass the requirements. She said they will have to close if obamas health plan stands. I'm not trying to start a political discussion but for gods sake do the libs have to make all of us miserable? Geez. Anyway 1 week ago I was very close to bailing on this and as of today I'm feeling much better.

Take the high road right after you tell her to kiss your skinny $&&. Sorry I couldn't resist. I don't care much for mean people. You go girl.
-
No but I've had fairly severe sleep apnea for years. It's one of the reasons I'm doing this. Passed stress test and pre op app is tomorrow. I write a check for 12 grand also. This damn sure better work. Lol.
-
Stress test tomorrow. 7/21 draws nearer. I have planned a relaxing mountain vacation from 8/5-8/12 post op. Dr kims office says I should be fine to go on vacation that soon after surgery. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Read my thread tough Texan. Going thru the same thing. I'm partial to the wine also. Lol.
