No Bowel Movements...Is this Normal?
FishingNurse replied to Naida's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a BM for 6 days after surgery! It will happen! -
Yes I have had a few bites here and there with no problems. Starting at 6 weeks out. I am at 9 weeks now. Just try a bite here and there and gradually increase as able. I have a sleeve of steel and nothing bothers me!

My thanksgiving day rant
FishingNurse replied to Eyemallrt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you! I am one of 5 kids in my family. My siblings are all bean poles, I ate exactly how they ate! To this day my sisters both weigh 120ish, and eat whatever they want. Last time I weigh 120lbs was in 2nd grade! -
What should my daily caloric intake goal be?
FishingNurse replied to ItsTheSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut won't give me a number to shoot for. She says as long as I get at least 65-70 grams of protien in a day thats what matters. But its my opinion that my body needs more than 600 calories a day to function properly. I personally shoot for 1000-1200 calories a day now that I work out 5 days a week. Those are good, healthy calories with an occasional treat. I do not want to lose my hair, or ruin my metabolism, and I would prefer to lose my weight slowly, preserve my muscle mass, and hopefully help my skin tone. I feel great, down almost 3 sizes, and I am halfway to goal at 2 months out! Its working for me. -
Carbonation Question -
FishingNurse replied to DoOver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon that is a family friend of the doctor I work for laughed when I asked him about carbonation streching our stomachs. He said that was ridiculous. He didnt reccomend it when our suture lines were fresh obviously! He said overeating will stretch the sleeve, not carbination that is expelled via burping. -

when does eating start feeling normal again?
FishingNurse replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 2 months out I can eat nearly anything, and I haven't gotten sick or the slimes for 3 weeks! (I did maybe 3 or 4 times total) I do feel normal and portions are not so ridiculously small anymore! I can eat a whole poached egg with a half an English muffin for example, it's nice! -

i just feel awful
FishingNurse replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slower can be better for your skin! the weight will come off don't worry! You lost a lot pre-op so your body is probably just being stingy with letting pounds go now. Hang in there and keep on doing what you know you are supposed to do! This is just the beginning! -
Amazing! Congrats!!!

Turkey Pepperoni is my go to!

FishingNurse replied to lily'ssleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Rootman 100%, My surgeon laughed when I asked if it would stretch out the sleeve. I have a total of maybe 6oz of diet pop per week. -
Does any one else notice that when you eat a little too fast or don't chew well enough you sneeze or need to blow your nose? Is this just me??? Odd!!

The Dreaded Slimes
FishingNurse replied to TigerLily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only gotten the slimes 4 times, and everytime it was a small amount of dense protein-- beef jerky, roast beef, turley breast and turkey pepperoni. I did not chew well enough. Nothing else even phases me! -
can you have organge juice?
FishingNurse replied to suez1105's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did this, just like 2 or 3oz a day I was fine. Watch out if you have acid reflux cause OJ is very acidic! -
When does the first stall usually happen?
FishingNurse replied to Shalon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine was around week three, and it lasted 12 days!! it was scary but since the stall I have dropped 15lbs, at about 1/2 pound per day. It will break don't worry. Yours might be earlier if you lost more weight that others pre-op. -
I am a little upset! I have a fancy 490 dollar body composition scale that tells you how much fat, muscle, viseral, water, etc weight you have. My body fat % has gone from 48.7% at 245lbs to 50.5% at 214lbs, and says I have lost almost 12lbs of muscle mass. But is it good to work out if I am only eating 500-700 calories a day? I am worried and I don't want to lose any more muscle. I am going to refocus on my protien intake, any other suggestions?

I broke the 3rd week stall about 8 days ago and lost an easy 12 lbs!! I can't believe I am half way there. 35lbs was post op and 15 pre-op!!!!! Yay! -
I was instructed to start it at 6 weeks out (yesterday!) and to take it weekly. Mine is OTC. :-)
