Does Anyone Else Eat As Much As Me?

Everyone is different but I have been eating 1600-2200 calories a day for the last 5-6 months maintaining my 167-173lbs with ease. I have not started to work out yet...but I will soon, and plan to lose 5 more pounds that way.

Does Anyone Else Eat As Much As Me?

I eat about that much maybe more but am 13 months out. As long as you lose weight, and feel good I think that's just fine!

7 grams a protein is about 1 ounce of meat

Dating And Romance - New Beginnings!

Loved reading your post! I met the love of my life post op! We are talking about when we get married and about our kids too :-) The confidence that comes along with your new body is so helpful in the dating department. I am so excited for you! You deserve it.
  9. its a normal feeling. also known as food funerals. I wish I wouldn't had had so many and gained 8 pounds preop! You will eat at your favorite places again. I regret the food funerals cause I could probably could have been 8 pounds ahead of where I am now!
  10. I lost about 70% of my excess body weight.... i am right above the statistic my surgeon gave me (he says sleevers lose about 60-65%....)

What To Expect When You're In Your 20's

I was sleeved at 28. I lost a total of 95lbs, I told everyone... even blogged about it and posted it on facebook. I went back to work 6 days later. I am a nurse in a clinic. I am super lucky and have no loose skin, even my breasts are still perky! I wish I would have done this at age 20 like you! good luck! Very happy for you.

    Another Hair Loss Thread...

same exact story as mine-- I didn't go bald and it stopped around 7 months. Mine started later-- maybe four months. I think hair cycles are around 4 months. Don't worry!! It will be ok!

    Runny Nose When Full

I am 14 months out and STILL sneeze whenever I get a little too full!!!
  16. similar thing happened to me after 1 year, I gained 7 pounds back, freaked out, cut back lost them all plus a few. So I am back to my low weight. I weigh myself at least twice per week. I will not gain my weight back. Its not an option, I happy to report "trying" to cut back post-sleeve is so much easier post op. Get those 10 pounds off, you know how... :-)

Will I Ever Be Able To Eat Bread Again?

It seems like about 75% of sleevers tolerate breads with no troubles. I have had 1 slice of toast daily for the last 9 months :-)

    Caloric Intake

I have had my BMR (basically my metabolism) checked at Lifetime fitness 3 times. 1st time I was told to eat 2500 calories a day to lose weight in 2008 when I was checked.... I weighed 255 at 5'4''... it took me 7 months to lose 25 pounds! (believe or not it was hard for me to only eat 2500 cals per day!) 2nd time I was 230lbs ( about 7 months after the fist one) and I was told to eat 2100 calories a day to lose weight. (yeah stopped at 230 and steadily gained back again :-( Last time I had it checked I was 5 months post sleeve (i was about 190?) and was told to not go below 1600 cals a day. And I was told to eat a little more on days I work out. I have stuck with that and lost almost 25 more pounds since that... eating a relatively larger amount of calories that most sleevers. Its not low carb but I do focus on protein... I plan to have my BMR checked again soon. Can't wait! the point of all this-- sometimes out bodies do better with more cals. (like mine) If I eat less consistently I feel like crap and I don't lose an ounce. Especially if you are doing super intense work outs.

    Drinking Red Wine

I drink a glass of wine or beer 2-3 times per week. No problems! I started at 4 months out :-)

Where's The Beef ( And Chicken And Pork )

I eat steak at least once per week! About 3-4 ounces. Chicken and pork too. There is nothing my sleeve of steel can't handle! I'm thinking 3/4 of sleevers are like me and can handle anything post op. I have been eating all meats with no trouble since 3 months out
  22. I live on steak, cheese, and veggies/ salads. Oh and lattes. Life is great! No regrets!
  23. I think smoothies are good the first month. They saved me! I couldn't do protein drinks. I was still less than 800 cals a day that month. By 3 months I was 1200 a day. Most of my weight loss phase at 1200-1600 per day, Now maintaining for 5+ months At 2000 cals per day. I am of the side of this site that some people shun me for .... Eating carbs, eating way more cals than most and having carbonated water daily and a few weekly beers. It's working for me. BUT if even 2 pounds creep on I will whip it. :-)
