What's The Most You've Been Able To Eat At One Time?
FishingNurse replied to OneManWolfpack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 15 months out and eat for example: 1 normal/small slice of pizza and 1 wing. Or a six inch sub from subway without the top bread, a couple chips. Or 1 hot dog. Or 3/4 of a small burger with our the top bun, and about 4 fries. ( all seem like bad choices, but I have these options a few times per week only -
Dating .. Are U Ready To Be Back In The Game?
FishingNurse replied to hellojello's topic in Singles Forum
I love this topic! I met the love of my life 1 year ago Exacty. I was about 3 months post op when we went on our 1st date, and still 200+ pounds he definately was aware of my tiny appetite. He has been supportive and open to all my surgery and body issues. I feel like its the first time I have had a relationship where I wasn't settling! What I am getting at is: it is so much easier to attract a great person when you love yourself. -
Pre Op Weight Loss
FishingNurse replied to Kim Ster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost hundreds of pounds before the sleeve, and was never able to keep the weight off. Never. It always came back, plus some. This is the longest I have ever maintained a weight I was happy at. Ever! Best decision of my life. -
I'm 14 months out and carbonation has not stretched my sleeve. I have 2 sparkling waters everyday and 3-4 beers a week. I have no troubles, make goal in less than 9 months and I am easily maintaining now.

I am 14 months out and feel very normal. a typical meal out ( I just went to red lobster Friday for example) eating slow-- half of the salad, half of a cheddar bay biscuit, 6 crab legs, a bite or two of lobster, and a couple bites of potato. Perfect! an easier example- a 6 inch subway sandwich without the top bread and a half of a banana for lunch.

In waited until 3 months out... I have had 2-3 beers per week since! (14 months out) made goal at 8.5 Months :-)

Help! 2 Months Out
FishingNurse replied to magee2318's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I graze too. I would have a small portion cheese, turkey pepperoni, turkey slices, yogurt, egg salad, tuna, baked beans, etc. every 3-4 hours. I would also have a few raw or cooked veggies with these mini meals for more variety and nutrition. I was able to get my protein in this way only. It kept my metabolism up and I made goal. As long as you graze on the right foods it should be ok! -
I am about 14 months post-op. My stats were about what you are at pre-op and I was 27 when I was sleeved. I set my goal at 175lbs and made it under. I was scared of loose skin and scared of getting too thin and regain. (why I chose a higher goal) I have maintained my weight of 167-172 for the past 6 months+ at 2000 cals a day. I have no deprivation feelings whatsoever. I am still in the overweight category but I don't care. I have no lose skin, no major hair loss, etc. I am healthy, curvy, a size 12 and medium tops usually. (preop I was a size 24 and 2x at least. I plan to start working out at the gym this month and maybe drop one more size. :-) and or 10 more pounds over the next year!

A Couple Of Questions....
FishingNurse replied to Pamela S.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
everyone is different. I can't tell you how many ounces my stomach can hold- it definitely fluctuates. I have been at 1200+ cals since 2 months out in an attempt to not tank my metabolism. My opinion is if you go to low the fist year your metabolism tanks, then when you do "splurge" eating a mere 1000 cals you gain. no thanks. This is advice from a personal trainer at lifetime fitness with a masters in nutrition as well. I made goal at 8.5 months out following his advice. I am currently maintaining my goal weight (167 pounds) at 2000 cals or so daily. So i feel like my metabolism is normal. I plan to continue speeding up my metabolism lifting weights and using the stairmaster. Hopefully I will drop ten more pounds in the next year. -
at 4 weeks out you will most likely have swelling still. It was actually not a horrible choice... don't get too discouraged, you will get to know your sleeve better and keep healing.

I take nsaids (aspirin and ibuprofen) at least weekly.

Lap Band Or Sleeve
FishingNurse replied to Cassie1/21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I vote for sleeve 100% I had my band surgery scheduled and changed my mind at the last minute when I spoke to at least for lap banders that had lost less than 30lbs. each (I work in a clinic as a nurse) and throw up everyday. I am grateful everyday that I got the sleeve!!! So happy -
How Much Are You Eating!?

Advice Wanted
FishingNurse replied to Lindsey Toppila's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Whitney was also getting the band- had my surgery scheduled and all. Somehow bumped into 3-4 people that had the band-- all hated it. Lost 30 pounds or less or lost a bunch and were miserable and gaining tons back. I somehow came across this site... BEST DECISION of my life to switch. so happy with the sleeve. Thankful I didn't get that band!! -
Weight Loss Stall And Eating Too Many Calories?
FishingNurse replied to SkinnyJeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate no less than 1200 cals a day after 1.5 months out and made goal. I think you could bump up your cals a tad. I cannot function on less than that! Now at goal for almost 6 months and I eat 2000 a day and maintain with ease -
5.5 Months Out, 61 Pounds Down, Sz 26- 14 And Feel Fatter Than Ever
FishingNurse replied to slimshadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you here 100%. Its like I still see myself as a 210 pound person now even though I weigh 170. I also felt like I looked like a 210 pound person when I was really 260lbs. (I never really saw myself as big as I really was until lately) its odd. I can say I think it does get better.
