  1. I'm only going to be there overnight, so chapstick is a definite! Other than that, I plan on doing the majority of my recovering at home. I'm showing up in comfy clothes, and leaving in the same ones! LOL. I am trying to make this as simple a process as possible.

    Pre-Op liquid diet

My doc advised me on the costco shakes. Since they are only one carb, I say they are the way to go. Plus they have more Protein than most others. The staples are made of titanium. They will not dissolve. You will always have them, but over time scar tissue will develop over the staples, so there is no worry about leakage once you are totally healed, and the scar tissue has grown over them. Here is a doctor talking about them:

    Pre-Op liquid diet

My surgery is scheduled for July 14th!!!! I'm overly ecstatic about this. I have worked soooooooo hard with my physician and insurance to get approved, and am amazed that this part of the process is so close to being over and I can start on my journey! I am supposed to start my liquid diet on the 7th, I have flitted through some of the topics, and haven't seen anything about "liquid" diets. I may have overlooked, but was just wondering how you got through it? Are there any pointers any of you can give? I'm down with the sugar free Jello, since I eat it all the time any way. I have a healthy stock of Crystal Light, and I have been making single serving bowls of fresh chicken broth, and freezing them for about a month now. (basically every time I roast a chicken!) So, I'm covered, but realistically, how hard is it?

    Pre-Op liquid diet

Oh my goodness! You just had your surgery in May and have already lost 38 pounds!? Way to go!!
  5. Not yet, but I have one planned! LOL.. Texas De Brazil is by far my most favorite restaurant. I have every intention of going there and stuffing myself until I pop! Today is good. I went yesterday for all my pre-op labs, chest x-ray, upper G.I. (worst test ever) and EKG. I think it drained me a bit. But I'm practicing my liquid diet this weekend.

AWESOME! Congratulations! When did you have your surgery?

    Pre-Op liquid diet

You can do it!! Get the Protein shakes, sugar free Jello, and beef and chicken broth. Crystal light is always a great help, and this is going to sound silly, but when you start getting a craving-drink a couple of tbs's of pickle juice! I know it sounds silly, but IT WORKS!!
  8. Thanks! It's the closest I could describe myself with out getting all mushy like those old Richard Simmons commercials... where the lady is always crying because her fat ass got stuck in the swing. Hell, I've been stuck in a swing, and came up laughing! LOL

    Pre-Op liquid diet

I know!! I start mine on the 7th! So we will be right in line with each other. I've already started stocking up on all the things I will need so I won't have an "excuse" to eat something bad. I do have some awesome friends. They are so supportive. Of course, they are all half my size or less! So they are super happy about me doing this. If I didn't know better, I would think my best friend is more excited than I am about me getting this surgery. She is using it as an excuse to get back down to her smallest, which was last year, she did Atkins and did really well. At least I've encouraged ONE person! LOL
  10. AHH.. That's CRAZY... I don't know if I could go to Mexico for something so invasive! Of course, I'm a big old scaredy cat! LOL. Yes, I only have to do a liquid diet for a week. I was bummed about that, until I read some others pre-op diets are like 3 weeks!

    Hello!

Oh, no a newbie asked where I was having my surgery above. How long do you have to do your preop diet for? Is it all liquid or do you get to eat meals?

    Pre-Op liquid diet

Thank you so much!! I'm thankful that my diet is only for a week, but it is all liquid, no meals at all. Which is why I'm a little worried. But after reading that you had to go through that for 3 weeks, I'm thinking I need to stop complaining about my one week diet! Also, I have a couple of girlfriends that are going to do it with me just because. Which I'm super thankful for! I will check out your blogs!! Thanks again!

    Hello!

Hi! I'm having mine in Dallas! Just a hop, skip, and hour long drive from home! I had to go through all the "pre qualifications" required by my insurance, which was a really long process. I have to start my diet on the 7th, and I'm fretfully nervous about it. I love to eat! So I guess that this is a way to start programming myself to what I will have to do after surgery as well. I can't believe you are going all the way to Tijuana! I don't think I could do that. Is the cost a lot less than in the states?

    Pre-Op liquid diet

When my doctor's office called, they said all liquid. I can have protein shakes and I'm sure that will stave off some of the hunger, sugar free jello, broth, sugar free popsicles and crystal light, tea, and water. No sugar. High protein. I don't know. I think I can manage since I'm so excited about the end result, a healthier, happier, me!!
