I'm getting in almost no protein a day and I'm 2 wks out. I can't stand the taste of it and it just comes right back up. I'm trying slim fast right now bc its all that's left I think. Its awful too but if I take it slow maybe I can handle it. We will see.

Ok thanks. I have got to start makin the protein thing work. I saw the doc today and he says I'm losing muscle bc I'm not able to hold down the protein.

This will be my 3rd night in the hospital and should've only stayed 1 night. I can't keep anything down cause I have so much swelling and it just comes up like foam. This is by far the worst thing I've ever done.

I know what you mean. My chest muscles hurt so bad I asked doc about possibly having pneumonia but he said my lungs sounded good. I keep trying to burp but can't. I just feel gas bubbling up but not getting out. No amount of research could have prepared me for this. Gas-x strips work for about 20 minutes but then back to the gurgling. Wish we could FFward a couple months.

I absolutely do believe in prayers and I know that's what helped me. My family and church family were praying for me every day. Just to hear all of u say it gets better day by day gives me hope. I'm on my way home right now and should be there in about 2 hrs. Still just trying to keep the liquids down so that I don't get dehydrated. I will keep posting about my weeks ahead. Thanks again so much.

Thanks agaiin everybody. You have givin me hope in this time that feels like will never end. Maybe I can go home today to my family. I'm gettin water and apple juice down with no throwing up.

I start my liquid diet tomorrow and making a grocery list. I really need same examples of what y'all ate? I've got broth, jello, carnation instant bfast, and tomato soup at hand. Is there anything else!!!!?????

Has anyone here used dr wade barker in dallas. I am interested in hearing about your experience with him. I'm already scheduled for surgery with him but still open for comments and suggestions.

I was always told when I had a bad cut or burn that itched, that meant it was healing. I do plan to put vitamin E oil on my incisions when I'm sleeved. That probably will help with scars and maybe itching too.

I am 5 days in to my pre op diet. My surgery is Wednesday the 20th. Let me just tell you that the first 3 days are hard! After that your body just kinda get used to it. I was very nausous and pissy and tired at first but it got better. Now 5 days in to it, its soooo much better.

Yes that is true. I have definately been overlooking the "cattle drive" part of it. I just need to remember I've got a great doc that's obviously very popular. That's for your input.

I feel the same way. Its almost like a cattle drive. I had my 2nd consult and stress test today and am good to go for next Wednesday. Did your surgery go as scheduled on your day? How many nights did they keep you?

Ok so when do you know you're I too much pain? What if somethings really wrong and you are thinking his is just part of it. At what point should you contact someone???

Ok its day 2 of my pre op diet and I am just sick. I'm so hungry I'm almost throwing up. I had an Atkins shake for bfast greek yogurt and lime jello for lunch and I'm seriously wanting to just pounce on something! My heart goes out to u post op sleevers that cannot have anything at all. This evening I have to drive about 170 miles for my sleep study tonight and stress test tomorrow in dallas. I think I just realized that I haven't been hungry in a long time. I probably don't let myself have the chance to feel a hunger pain before I've shoved something in my mouth! Ugh! If I just had a little self decipline I wouldn't be here right know.

So has anybody ever died (in the US) getting this surgery??? During surgery or after? If so can u give me websites so I can read about it? What about names of docs??

Well I had to do it for just one day before my EGD and by midday it was hell!!!! Thanks 4 the warning!

Oh wonderful!!!! I'm so happy to hear it was a success! I'm aslo a "texas mom" and my sleeve date is july 20! Please keep us posted on her progress.

Yes! I've been getting on this site since january and kinda tossing around the idea of surgery and finally decided to do it. Its all I talk about and think about! Now that I'm scheduled for the 20th of july I'm really getting obsessed bout it. Its not good bc I get into the "what ifs". Glad 2 see I'm not the only one.

I'm also self pay and I just called mine in yesterday. Mine is 12,500. So I've been wondering, if we are self pay will they just push us outa there asap? My surgery is at forest park medical center on the 20th. I did some research on the place and found a lady that said she was not self pay and they charged her insurance 140,000! Since they aren't making as much off of us will they even let us stay 2 nights??? To me the longer I stay the better because I live 2.5 hrs away!

How long after surgery do worry about blood clots???

Ok I'm scheduled for surgery on july 20th and I think TOM will be here!! I've never been on schedule with it, usually a week difference give or take. And there is a big possibility it will be then. How does that work with surgery? Seems like it would make it extra heavy??? Ughhh this is gonna suck. Have any of y'all been in this situation?

Ugh gross I hate pads! Maybe I can wear my own undies instead of those mesh ones that u wear in the hospital after having a baby. Oh and that mattress of a pad!
