How Much Walking Did You Do in the Beginning?
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I am 13days post-op. I rely on a home treadmill as it is still too hot for me to walk outdoors. I know everyone is different, but I was wondering how far everyone walked when they were first out of surgery? I can manage about 15-20 min right now at about a 3.0 clip and a 2% incline. Then EVERYTHING starts to kinda ache. I think I may still have some gas trapped in my shoulders as I have NEVER experienced shoulder pain in the past. I feel bad as I used to the the go to mover and shaker around here. Now I am not pulling my weight. no pun intended. I want to be back to fighting strength and speed. I had this same feeling with my c-section. I was ordered on bed rest and it darn near killed me. -
Hi to All!! I am over 5weeks out (Aug 25th) and I was wondering when folks started to eat salad? My post-op diet gave me the green light on adding foods back in. I bought these fantastic organic baby greens from Trader Joe's but am scared to use them just yet. They are about three days from being tossed. I am still having a hard time with Protein and I was thinking a salad with tiny chopped chicken sounds pretty good. What says the board? Thanks in advance. Susie

I have a question for those experienced sleevers. Can certain foods give you the slimes? This morning was my first case of the slimes. I had 1/2 a scrambled egg w/cheese and a 1/2 piece of TJ's turkey bacon. That was it. TMI (sorry) I am gagging and spitting up all over the place. I have never had this before. I have eaten more quantity that this and it didn't happen. For example, on Sunday I ate 1/3 of a small Wendy's chili and all was good. Soup and food of the like seem to go down much better for me. I feel like I have a lump in my throat, too. It is slowly going away. I took a good long time to eat as well. I was cooking for the kids and doing laundry between bites. The lump feeling (not the slimes) happened with some roasted chicken as well. Maybe I just need to eat soup for the rest of my life?

I'm a vegetarian: pre-op & post-op HELP!?
TigerLily replied to Brittanysiemens's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was an avid vegetarian for years and a vegan for a few. Marriage changes so many things. Anyhow, have you tried agar agar? It's not quite the same a Jello, but it's still good. Agar Agar comes from seaweed. It's not crystal clear like jello but still relatively clear, rather like the Isopure clears. You can make all sorts of different flavors is you want to use fruit juice. You will boil the agar with the juice to dissolve. Now I haven't tried this BUT when it's cooling and gets down to about 105deg and still in a liquid stage before setting, it might work to stir in some unflavored Protein powder like from unjury? I wish you well!!! -

Tell the Truth - How Did the Tats Hold Up?
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This question is for those who are inked. How did your tats hold up after weight loss? -
Hi to All!! I am now 10days out and know quite a few who have had GB, but no one who has gone through VSG. I would love to find some local buddies and support. I am married with two little ones (4 & 1) and could desarately use advise on how to prepare meals for all or do you make separate. Do you eat together? Everything is so new now.

Scared - They Want to Do a Gallbladder Unltrasound
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just received a call and they want to do an ultrasound on my gallbladder? I had blood work done about a week ago and my liver enzymes and other tests came back pretty high. I am only 26days out of my VSG surgery. I am scared I may have to have another surgery. I am not progressing well with my VSG. I am only down 3lbs at this point. I am sinking further into despair by the day. -
Buyers remorse ... not losing weight and kind of sad ...
TigerLily replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 16lbs is wonderful! If there is a pity party going on, I should be the belle of the ball!!!! I am horribly depressed over my situation. I am only down 3lbs since my surgery on 8/25. Yep, 3lbs. It was 6lbs at one point but I seem to have added 3lbs over the last couple of weeks. My husband has hidden the scale and I am only allowed to have it on Monday mornings for 5min. I have only been on mushy foods for a few days and know its not what I am eating. I walk 4 days a week for 30min. I just did 35 actually. I don't know what is going on and I am incredibly sad. -
So, three weeks and a day now
TigerLily replied to Tera's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 25days out and only down 3.5lbs. It was 6lbs at one point and now it seems to be creeping on. I only just started mushies a few days ago. I seem to be retaining Water as of yesterday and today? I am pretty frustrated. I am going back to an all liquid day in hopes to lose some of this water. On a side note, I was so surprised to see how much sodium is in the boxed Premier shakes from costco. I am looking forward to when i can eat chicken and fish. I really do hate the shakes. I am hoping and praying for all on here that are frustrated. Right now it seems hopes and prayers are all I have these days. Take care all!!! -
Is It Nornal to Lose So Little in the Beginning?
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am quite the newbie here. I know, know, know we aren't to compare weight loss with others, but I do have a question. I had my surgery on 8/25. I am only down 7lbs. I have to admit, I am let down over this. I was expecting a bit more. I am still on the full liquid stage. I do get about 75-80oz of Water in and I try to get my Protein. Most days I can only manage 50gr. I walk on the treadmill 15-20min a day. I have a couple of friends that have had RNY. They said I need to up my protein. Last night in a panic I choked down another Protein shake. I took in a total of 85gr of protein yesterday. I stepped on the scale this morning and was up .5lbs. I am not trying to compare, just wondering of this is normal for some and should I be worried? I am still having the "what have I done" thoughts. This isn't helping. Thanks in advance for the help. -
Sadly, the gummies don't have the minerals your body needs. I loves me some gummie vitamins though. They go down so easily. If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have a chewable that has pretty much everything in it. I alternate gummie one day with TJ's the next. I hate the big chalky chewables. My calcium citrate is 4 HUGE chewables. Thats pretty hard. Good Luck!!! (((hugs)))

I Can't Even Set a Realistic Goal Yet
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I am now 22days post op. Due to the fact I had only lost 6lbs and hadn't dropped any weight since day 7 post op, the hubby took the scale away from me. When will I be able to start setting goals for myself? I mean really, right now I can't. I haven't a clue as to what would even be realistic? I personally think 6lbs is just a horrible number especially since I have been on clear and full liquids for the last 20days. When was everyone able to start setting goals? I see all these Halloween Tickers. I would love to have one, but haven't a clue as to what to put. -
dumb question...sorry!
TigerLily replied to MissJ482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about anyone else, but my big incision above my belly button has a hard lump. I am 22days post op. I hope this goes away. It is still a bit sore if I push on it. -
No beans? This is part of my mushies.

has anyone tried chicken livers?
TigerLily replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's a chicken liver? Oh yeah, that's the slimy part of the bird that's in a baggie in the cavity with other slimy parts that gets directly given to the dogs to eat!!! Seriously, KFC serves this? I'm in CA and I have never heard of such a thing. Is it like the In-and-out Burger secret menu? Can't wait to rock (even if it's only a small portion) of a "Flying Dutchman" again. Yum!!! -

Fatty deposit on back of neck
TigerLily replied to longer-life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goodness Gracious I hope so. They call me Ishmeal. That would be my primary harpooning spot. I feel worse off than Quasimodo at times. Somedays I would love to have a cute short haircut, but I keep it long to hide it. -
Would you sleeve again?
TigerLily replied to Ellie4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Truth be told, no I wouldn't. I really thought this was going to be my saving grace. In actuality, I cry over what I have done each morning. I am a newbie. I was sleeved on 8/25. I am miserable. I have only dropped 6lbs and I have a pretty high BMI. I struggle daily with the fact that I wasn't able to do this on my own. Why? Why couldn't I have just worked a little harder? Maybe I could have gotten a personal coach? I permanently altered my body. I have little ones. A 1yo and a 4yo and I worry I may have shortened my time with them. Even though I am big, I have never had any health issues. I can't stop thinking, what have I done? I hope these feelings go away someday. -
Anyone ever lift too much early out and have problems?
TigerLily replied to treequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HDub, Are you on antibiotics for the bronchitis? I cannot take any kind of pennicilin or derivative. All antibiotics put me in the bathroom. I always have to take a probiotic for about three weeks afterwards. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!! -

Any Success Stories After a Real Slow Start?
TigerLily posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need some reassurance, please. If you had a very slow start and then pulled through down the road or know of this, PLEASE, PLEASE post!!! I was down 7lbs since surgery on 8/25 but am now up a .5lbs. So it's a total of 6.5lbs. My husband cannot stand the Diva Hysterics any longer and as of this morning has hidden the scale. The hubby through his back out and I had to take him to see his doc on Wednesday. I was explaining my situation and the tiny weight loss. He asks me what I have been cheating and/or binging on??!!?? I told him I am still on full liquids and take in (maybe) 500 calories a day if I am lucky so there is no cheating. These kinds of comments make me sooooo mad!! I have been judged my entire life over my weight and now this?
