Just For The Fun of It: Which "Diet Plans" Did You
Adri replied to Adri's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Was the Gazelle not the most hilarious contraption! Once you got enough momentum going, you didn't have to move much, it just swung back and forth on its own!! What were we thinking!!! And PAYING!!! -
Just For The Fun of It: Which "Diet Plans" Did You

Here's my list from over the years (I'd love to see yours.): 1. Weight Watchers 3x 2. Jenny Craig 3x 3. Dr. supervised 2x 4. NutriSystem 1x 5. Optifast 1x 6. Slim Fast 1x 7. Medifast 1x 8. Atkins 1x 9. Herbalife 1x 10. Lindora 1x and the grand finale..."The Venus de Milo Gym" diet. Yes, this was a real gym I went to back when we wore leotards and leg warmers to work out. I remember having to eat dinners of hardboiled eggs and steamed spinach every time I weighed in heavier than before. Back then it felt like a punishment, now that doesn't sound half bad. This place was located right next to a Winchell's donut shop. Guess how much weight I lost. Hmmmm?? NONE of these got me to where I am now with VSG...ONEderland! YES!!!! -
IS THERE ANY LATINOS HERE????
Adri replied to LANENADELCACHEL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mexican Cook Signing In! Well, I started off with canned nonfat refried Beans with melted cheddar by the 3rd week. Making frijoles de la olla yourself is good because then you can control the fat. When I started making scrambled eggs I added tabasco. By week 5 I was putting "taco sauce" on my food and had my first little bowl of chile colorado (con carne de res). It was cooked long and slow so the meat was very tender. I also had sopa de fideo early on. During the mushy stage I was putting aguacate on all my meat so it went down easier. Now that I'm almost 3 months out I've added chicharrones (not too much if they are fatty). I've also had mexican style shrimp cocktail, but it gave me diarrhea...I think it was too much tomato, especially since I had just eaten some chips and salsa. Moderation is the key. Last weekend, for the first time since before surgery, I had my favorite breakfast---chorizo con huevos y nopalitos (fresh cut from the garden!) with a slice of queso fresco (Ranchero). The difference from before wls is that this time I only had one egg instead of 3, 1 corn tortill instead of 6, and no papas fritas. But the great thing about the sleeve is that I enjoyed it just as much. Next on my list is to try chile verde. I'm dying for some menudo, but I'm afraid it might be too rich to eat at this point. Oh, I have had tamales de puerco en chile colorado...que ricos!! I think that's about it. All but the one exception has gone down fine, but I will tell you I've been on a PPI since the liquid stage, that definitely helps. My sleeve has not let me down--it's a Mexican sleeve--and still loves its chile picoso!! -

LOL PhatGurl, your WW track record is alot like mine...except my 3rd time around I started at 266. In fact, that is the only record I have of my highest weight...years later I found an old weigh-in booklet with all the little stamps in it. If I ever weighed more than that I must have blocked it out of my memory! -

Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I DID IT!!! I'M IN ONE-DERLAND!!! ONLY 3 LBS. FROM LABOR DAY GOAL!! -
I am so happy for you. I am feeling so much better too, now that I've lost so much weight. My insulin intake has gone from 55 units a day (and then some) to only 12. I'm looking forward to getting off it completely. I know how it is to have an illness that is just killing you! Take care, and I hope you double check with your dr. about dropping the medicine cold turkey. I've been tempted to do that myself.

I'm 2 weeks shy of 3 months out. I can take 3 big pills at a time. Have been able to for a few weeks now. I have diabetic medication I still take...so I feel your pain. This is why I am thankful that I finally found some chewable and chewy supplements that I like. Let's hope as we get healthier, the fewer pills we'll have to take!

Well, just barely, but I'm there. I weighed in at 199.6 today! I'm happy, but actually I'm more shocked than anything. I have been overweight all my life. Have been on multiple diets mulitiple times, off and on for OVER 30 years. I have not weighed under 200 lbs since junior high...and I am now 46. If anyone ever wants to tell me I did this the easy way with wls, all I have to say is: I did it the successful way!

Thanks so much everyone!

getting off of the PPIs

I've changed from taking Prilosec every day to every other day. It is just as effective for me. -
Mine was supposed to be 1; but the dr. asked if I wanted to stay 1 more night and I said yes. Mainly because I was exhausted!

Can't believe I'm 3 months out!!

Congrats Cali-b, you're doing great! I love eggs too. One of my favorites omelettes is with feta cheese and fresh basil leaves. If I don't have any fresh herbs around, I sprinkle some parsley flakes in my scrambled eggs. I usually add a little swiss or cheddar cheese for a bit more Protein and flavor. Don't forget the Tabasco sauce...it's zero calories. Haha -
Thanks for the tips Suzanne. I can always use more motivation!

Can a whole weekend be a NSV?
Adri replied to Paul11011's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome Paul. Weigh to go!! -
Thanks bunches! Hey, I noticed our stats are pretty similar. I'm 5'4", all time high 266, pre-surg 248. I'm glad we can be on this journey together!!
-
I was shopping at old navy last week too; bought a pair of yoga pants, size large. I can relate...it feels amazing! (My all time high weight was 266.)
-
I'm glad you're home and resting. Cottage cheese and applesauce are good; non-fat refried Beans were my favorite, and later on you can add a little cheddar cheese on top...yum!

I hit one-derland today, I share your happy thoughts! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Yes, the more I think about it the better it feels!!
