jewels of june check in!!
Adri replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on June 6th and have lost 54 lbs so far. I eat anywhere from 800 to 1100 calories a day. But mostly stay in the 900s. I get in all my Protein and Water and eat about 65 carbs a day on average. (I can't do super low carb, it makes me feel like I'm on a diet...haha) My weight loss has slowed down, I too lose about a pound a week now, but that's ok with me as long as I lose. I want to avoid as much loose skin as possible...which brings me to my biggest fault...I'm not exercising as much as I should. Anybody got any advice for an old couch potato? Glad to hear from you all... Jewels of June Unite! -
1/2 way to goal and feeling exposed.....
Adri replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can relate to you in a very literal way. The other night I was lying in bed, layed my arms across my body and could feel my ribcage. The whole thing! I thought, omg, my ribs might be hurt cuz they're sticking out! How weird is that? I've been fat all my life and instead of thinking the ribs are there to protect your organs...I thought my fat was there to protect my ribs!! We are certainly facing a new reality, a different mindset, and I'm glad we're here to experience this together! -
At about a month out I went to Tutti Frutti and had about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt. It was either low or nonfat with no toppings. And I really enjoyed it...no problems. I think we have to take rich foods small, slow and easy; especially greasy or sugary stuff.

two weeks out- what is everyone eating?
Adri replied to Pinkbetty's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I loved eating hummus at this stage. It is very mushy and savory tasting. A good break from the sweet shakes. -

Goal is so close I can almost feel it...
Adri replied to coops's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi Coops, I remember your posting from about 2 months ago, when you asked us if we thought you should keep trying so hard to lose, or kind of take a break. (I'm paraphrasing of course.) I'm glad you continue to fight the good fight! Congrats to you not only on your weight loss but on your positive attitude. I hope I am the same a year from now! -
I'm 12 weeks out, and yes I can eat about 3/4 to 1 full cup most of the time. It does scare me a little, but I figure controlling myself now is good practice for the rest of my life. Hopefully!!

Introduction - Hi everyone! I'm 1 year post-op
Adri replied to shrinkingviolet's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi SV, I'm glad you've come to this site for support. So have you gotten back to basics: counting carbs, water and changing up the exercise routine? I track myself on myfitnesspal.com. There are a bunch of people from this site that are also on myfitnesspal and we are all friends and share our food diaries. It's another good place for support. My username on that site is adriq (look for the posting on this site for a bunch more usernames to friend) Please join us there, and also look for some veterans on this site that might be able to give you more advice. Oh, and by the way, 80 lbs is a great accomplishment...dont forget that!! -
how long is the 3 week stall?
Adri replied to Sassygirl06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stall started closer to 4 weeks after surgery (at that point I had lost about 35lbs) and it lasted 3 weeks. It was a lonnngggg 3 weeks, but I'm losing pretty consistently now, slower but consistent. -
How many calories is everyone getting per day?
Adri replied to wondering1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 3 months out and I eat 900 to 1100 calories per day. I try to stay under 1000. -
Well, I've had flax seed bread and everything else but the lox. I have eaten whole wheat crackers as well. I'm sure you can try it ...wait about 3 months from surgery. (Don't worry, time goes by fast!!!)

I make white meat moist by spreading avocado on it when I serve it. I love avocado and this way I get the healthy fat instead!

Tell me about your 1st stall......
Adri replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 4 weeks after surgery I stalled for 3 solid weeks! It was rough. But the weight loss will start up again. When my stall started I had lost 35 lbs, now I'm at 53. The weight loss is slowing down, but it's staying consistent (for now!), and I'm happy with that. I don't want to lose too fast in hopes of avoiding really loose skin. -

I think we're all in agreement. Try to cut down on sugar/carbs. I know it's tough, but you're tougher!!
