    Protein

I too went through that phase of detesting the Protein shakes! You are not alone. I just made my 2week post op, and i moved onto mushy foods (egg/cheese/fish). That will happen before you know it, Until then, you can try the tubes that GNC sells called Smart Protein if you find yourself falling short of your 40-60g of protein via shakes.. I would have the Smart Protein tube (only about 3oz liquid but 45g protein!!).. Just keep the protein intake and you will soon get to the eating phase.. One step at a time Congrats!
  2. So funny that we were both sleeved on the same day, and ironic that I am eating refried Beans for dinner as we speak! I like your enchilada sauce idea too I also didnt think of adding shredded cheese! Gotta love this support group PS I hope I dont stall .. I lost 22lbs since the surgery, but just guessing that the mushies may set me back somewhat

    Soup question pls help!

Hi there! Day#2? that's great! I am 11 days post-op.. How I got through the days right after surgery, was ordering wanton soup, minus the wantons.. Try that for a difference. It is great that you could have the creamy soups- My 2week PostOp diet consisted of just clear broths, Protein shakes, and Crystal Light.. Just think, in a flash, you will be onto the mushies! Hang in there!
  4. Hi there! I went to my 2week Post Op today and am elated to be starting on my mushies!! I had most of a 3-egg scrambled egg as soon as I got home! lol.. I lost 22lbs.. not sure if thats good or bad! I had some not-so-clear broth over the past 2 weeks, so I guess that was kinda cheating.I am looking forward to trying some seafood tomorrow. How are you doing? Which state are you in? I am in Florida.

    Starbucks on full liquids?

I am in the same boat!! This post-op diet is killing me! lol.. I, too, and a coffee/Starbucks lover, so I will be sure to try this ! Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the idea! Proteins are allowed, but I was getting sick of the ZOIC shakes.. I will be sure to try the Syntrax nectar
  7. Hello friends! My surgery date was 6/9 and so I am 10days post-op and still on this "Phase II" diet of only clear broth, protein shakes and Crystal Light. I am just about sick of those things, and look forward to getting my meat on! As I read the different forums, I realize that there are so many different versions of diets 2wks Post-Op. I see my surgeon's office next week, and believe after that visit , I will start Phase III (solely pureed proteins like seafood, 3oz egg but NO pasta/rice/grains etc) . It is becoming so difficult, as I am honestly hungry at this stage, and have to prepare scrumptious meals for my kids , so this liquid-only diet is stressful. Do any of you have stories to share of what's in store for me, and WHEN exactly? LOL! Baked Salmon (yumm) ? Red Beans (yummm)?

Pinkish urine 5 days post op

Hi there! Even though this didn't happen to me, I wanted to reply to your post.. Did you have a catheter on you at the hospital? Did the nurse check out that you can pass clear urine prior to you being discarged? It could be soreness from when they took out the catheter, but could also be signs of an infection as a result of the catheter.. Call the surgeon's office today to let them know.. Good luck, and keep us updated..
  9. THANKS for sharing your experience! I moved my post-op appointment up from Friday to tomorrow, which would be 12days after surgery.. I really think I can handle the next stage foods, but like you said, there are some things that can never happen again. The 2 week liquid diet, both before and after operation, is very taxing, and I look forward to the next phase. I am surprised that you can eat potato now! It is amazing that diets can differ so much. My next phase (3) is strictly pureed seafood, and chicken, eggs, and certain Beans, which will last for 2 months, until my next Phase (4) which will add vegetables.. I will remain on Phase 4 until I lose 75% of my excess body weight, and only THEN can I go onto Phase 5 which will have starches etc... I am keeping the faith, and am glad for this site for support! Take care! Soccermom

2 weeks post op & Stomach bloated....

Hi Dawn! Sounds like you are in great spirits! I am one week post-op and have some bloating too. My stomach looks a bit lumpy and odd, lol, but otherwise I feel terrific.. My post-op appt is in a week's time, and I cannot wait to give up this liquid Protein diet! Ugh.. Anyway, for sure I would consult your doctor - just to give you a little piece of mind.. Best of luck- let us know the outcome Soccermom
  11. Hi to my new friends! I happened upon this site last night, and I look forward to some engaging conversations. I am a mom who has just had sleeve surgery on 6/9/11. I spent 3 days at the local hospital Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, which was quite comfortable, and the surgeon (Dr. Rosenthal) and staff were wonderful. I heard from 5 different members of hospital staff that they thought me to be "small" for this operation.. I had never heard that personal description in my life, so that took me by surprise! I was a size 16 Pre-Op, with a BMI of 39.999. I am now at home recouping until next week, and then I head back to work, on my hopefully Phase III diet. However, I am stressing about staying on this protein shake diet for another 8 days ..yes, I am counting down the days I think I can handle some more robust liquids (soups), but I guess I should not jump the gun. Anyway, there is no turning back now- I look forward to a healthy, happy life, when I can finally feel free on a soccer field, and not be restricted by my size/weight. My close friends have told me that I should have tried the "natural" way to lose weight first, but of COURSE I have tried that, but to no avail.. Easier said than done, right? Looking forward to chatting with you all! Thanks in advance

    Water/sippy cup

I think it is great that you are asking these quesions beforehand, just to get prepared... I was hemming and hawing about this surgery for 2yrs, and just decided to go for it 5 days ago. My biggest adjustment was the psychological change.. I underestimated the pre-op 2 week purely liquid diet , and I also underestimated the post-op 2 week purely liquid diet! I am now on Day 6 of the "Phase II" liquid diet, and find it difficult to swallow the mouthfulls like I used to pre-sleeve. It makes me wonder why I needlessly chugged down liquid for so many years! My first instinct now is still to take a big gulp of water. Then I remember as the water is going down that I should not have. Then a few seconds later I feel this discomfort in my stomach lasting another few seconds. It will really take building some new healthier habits before I get used to the whole thing. I really did not prepare too much before the surgery , and maybe if I did, I may not have been brave enough to actually do it. However, I have no regrets and look forward to seeing continuous results.. I wish you the very best SoccerMom <a href="http://www.TickerFac...t-loss/wE7sDhC/"> <img border="0" src="<A href='http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wE7sDhC/weight.png">http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wE7sDhC/weight.png"></a>

    Night before Surgery

You will be just fine! Yes,my prayers are with you, and I look forward to hearing your story I was the reverse of you.. I was only nervous AFTER the operation, when I had the thoughts of the tough task of managing diets etc..However, the stories that the members have shared are very positive, so i look forward to sharing stories with everyone myself, being new to the group. All the best Mama!
