Weight Loss Stall -- Need Help
SuperMom replied to Coco Kitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I notice if I don't get the Protein in I stall. Also I noticed when I stopped Vitamins for a couple of weeks I stalled. The protein is what makes me feel full and not snack on bad stuff. When you get the nibbles try string cheese, baby bel cheese, walnuts, pecans, a piece of rotissery chicken with cream cheese spread on it.....etc....eat something good!!! It is not about eating less (well with the sleeve you will anyway) but about eating the RIGHT things. Good luck!!! I know how a stall feels.....I was stuck in one for two months and it just started to move again. -

When I get to goal weight I will be at 100 lb loss (I am hoping to get down to 135 and I am at 145 now) How in the world was I carrying around that weight????No wonder I was tired all the time!!!! Congrats!!!!!! on your NSV!!! HUGE NSV!!!! -

Is It The Infamous 3 Week Stall Or Is It 3 Weeks Of Stalling?
SuperMom replied to happy1957's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been in a stall since before Christmas. Stuck at same weight UGGGG. Really frustrating since I was only 8 lbs from GOAL (ok Dr.'s goal....I am shooting for 135) I ran out of Vitamins for about two weeks (ordered them online and finally got them in) I also tried to up the Protein (I have been busy at work and some days it is hard to get 80 grams of protein in!) I can't do shakes they make me throw up. soooooooooooooo anyway.............I weighed this morning and finally after about two months lost 3 lbs!!!WOOOOHOOOO STALL IS BROKEN!! so I have five more pounds until Dr.'s goal weight. Guess I have to finally change my ticker!!! Stick in there. Sometimes it just takes time. I have noticed also that my size 14 jeans are way loose....I have not worn a size 12 in about 20++++ years...........kind of want to go try some on just to see???? -
Didn't I read somewhere that HCG is made from the URINE of pregnant women? Injecting someone else's pee into my body? EWWWWWWWWWWW I don't think so! My sister's friend was on this hcg diet. She was only supposed to eat 500 calories with the HCG added. I told her with eating 500 calories you would loose weight anyway.

Will They Sew Me Back Up?
SuperMom replied to kcsmicah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liver enzymes ALT and AST can go up due to many things (alcohol intake, too many ibuprophen, viruses etc.) That is not that high of a value. Gallstones can make your liver enzymes go up but usually happens after the gallbladder is really pissed off (and you would know that and be in severe pain). You might want to ask to have them rechecked and see where you are at. Might have gone down by now. 25 years of working in the lab.....they can drop by as much as 40 points a day. Just FYI don't freak out yet! But STAY away from motrin, ibuprophen, alcohol until you have them repeated. Woops forgot to put here.....ALT and AST DO NOT GO UP FROM JUST HAVING A FATTY LIVER!!! I weighed in at 230 at 5'1" and had perfect liver enzymes. Gallstones, hepatitis, alcoholism, etc are disease states and make your liver enzymes go up. Fat surrounding the liver does not make your liver enzymes high. I did liver enzymes on a guy that was 500+ lbs - they were NORMAL! Hope this helps. -
ok this is gross but I am going to go there....as a med tech that has looked at specimens under the microscope I can verify that celery does NOT digest. The fibers come out in your stool. Because I know this and have seen it myself I am staying WAY away from putting that into my much smaller pouch. If I eat it at all I make sure it is cut very fine and not in long strands! Sorry if TMI!

Fatigue...when Does It End After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
SuperMom replied to Lisa821's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I ran out of my b12 and d3 and after one and a half weeks am feeling too tired to get off the couch. My protein is still good. Fluids still good. Guess it has to be the vitamins. I am still taking my iron and multi....so kind of feel like I am missing one of the b12 or d3? I ordered more online. Will be here in a couple of days. My labs were great. Nice to have a place to sound out what is going on.....and comiserate!!! thanks guys! -
Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Protein?
SuperMom replied to gettingthere's topic in Food and Nutrition
Too much protein and you can end up with gout. That is what my doc said. He said don't go too far over 80-90 for me. I am 5'1". -
Is Syntha 6 An Acceptable Protein Powder To Use?
SuperMom replied to Dooter's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The first Protein should be "whey PROTEIN ISOLATE" NOT AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT......NOT COLLAGEN! My nutritionist "nut" beats me in the head with this every time I see her. The collagen is an incomplete protein that your body cannot absorb as well. Hope this helps....so what does the label say first? That is the major protein. Most of the protein shots are the wrong kind of protein. Well I went and looked....it says "whey protein" and "whey protein isolate" second...no collagen in the label. Not sure since the "whey protein isolate" was not first? Might want to pass it buy your nut? -

What Was Your Bmi When You Were Sleeved?
SuperMom replied to kimmr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have never had the band just the sleeve. But in my heart I know if I had never had the sleeve I would still be fat. I don't know about the band but with the sleeve - the day I woke up from surgery - my obsessive "hunger" all the time was GONE! Now I have to remind myself to eat. Some one posted it was the hormone ghrelin sp? that since the surface area of the stomach is smaller less hormone is produced that gives you the hungry feelings. Did the band surgery take away the hunger? The sleeve sure did for me anyway. Good luck on your journey. -
That is what i was going to say too....when I am at work sometimes don't get enough protein in and just don't get the hunger signals like I used to before surgery. When I get home late I get the munchies. I noticed when I am off and get all the protein in no munchies! Get the protein in several times during the day might help cure the munchies/snacking?
-
YOU ROCK!!!! Congrats!!! I am the same as you in that when someone says that I am "tiny" in my head I am still the fat girl........weird. Guess my mind has not changed as quickly as my clothes size? Congrats again! I know it is not easy.....still have to eat the right stuff and stay on track. I congratulate you on staying in there to goal!
-
I have noticed that if I don't get my Protein in during the day at work....at night at home I want to nibble. When I went back to eating enough protein I don't nibble as much?????????? Are you getting enough protein??

I'm Never Ever Ever Eating Again!
SuperMom replied to Riss1908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lived on refried beans for a while with a little grated cheese on the top. About 1/2 cup.....water down very much....eat s-l-o-w-l-y. I had a bad experience with tuna and mayo (I think it was too oily?) gave me bad diarrhea right at mushy stage.....If you are going to eat fish....I would bake some kind of white fluffy fish. Don't add too much grease.....and kind of mush it up. Prob would go down better than the tuna/mayo. -
I Have A Constant Stabbing Pain Ouch
SuperMom replied to new to this sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was the spot that hurt the worst on me. I remember reading that that is the site that they actually open bigger and take the parts out so separating the muscle hurts. Sorry!!! It does get better! Also if you feel a pressure Gas X chewables really help!!! -

Has Anyone Tried Unjury Protein Cheese Sauce?
SuperMom replied to crosswind's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I feel the same way. I really don't do pasta or potatoes anymore (maybe one bite....pasta makes me have a icky too full feeling so does rice) and I am avoiding chips which go down way too easy so what am I going to put the cheese sauce on? -
How Many Incisions Did You Get?
SuperMom replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I Think I May Have Stretched My Gastric Sleeve...
SuperMom replied to AprilMay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a warning here....my doc fusses if I get below 50 on protein....says closer to 80 is better.....some protein passes through and is not absorbed....said to get a little more so my body would not think it was "STARVING"...sounds like you are back on track! Congrats!
