    Is tylenol ok?

I was told that Tylenol is fine. I was told to either take liquid or crush the tablets.

    Driving

I also had surgery on July 8th and I started driving yesterday. My doctor told me I would be fine as long as I am off pain killers for 24 hours. That said, you should do what your doctor tells you.

    After Surgery Exercise time off?

I was told not to lift anything over 10 pounds and no vigorous activity. I'm only 5 days out so I don't know if that will change at my two week follow up or if I'll have to wait longer. But I'd definitely consider horse back riding to be a vigorous activity.

    Chicken broths ect

Maybe pepper, but I would avoid sea salt because I think you're supposed to be on a low sodium diet. At least I'm on a low sodium diet.
  6. I had my surgery on Monday, July 8th so that makes me five days post-op. Anyway, I noticed last night around 8:00 pm that I have a bruise about the size of the palm of my hand over by my belly button. It wouldn't be from the heparin injections because those were administered in my thighs. Anyway, I was wondering what this is from and if I should be concerned.

    No, it's not hard.

    Bruising

Okay, something just occurred to me that is a little embarrassing to admit. The embarrassing part is that I didn't think of this sooner. I did a lot of walking yesterday and during all that walking the waistband of my pants really irritated that area. Now I'm thinking that the bruise was caused by that irritation.

    Bruising

Yeah, I do have an incision right by the bruise.
  10. I weighed myself today and I'm down 14 lbs.

  11. I'm home from the hospital. I actually came home yesterday. The operation, according to the surgeon, was "textbook" and total time, including hiatal hernia repair, was about an hour. However, I was in the OR for about four hours because after they closed me up they were missing a needle and they had to look for it. They x-ray'd me and did something else and they didn't see the needle in me. I was later told that they'd found the needle on an equipment tray in the back...

  12. Finally awake enough to update. Surgery went well from what I was told. Was groggy for hours.

  13. Today is the big day!

    july 2013 sleevers

My pre-op diet isn't that bad. I'm allowed one solid meal a day for two weeks. The other two meals are protein shakes. Two days before the surgery, though, I have to start a liquid diet.
  21. Happy Fourth of July!

  22. I don't know if anyone's mentioned this before, but bring an extension cord. The outlets usually aren't close enough to allow you to use your phone while it's plugged in.
