  1. Scale victory. I'm under 200 lbs for the first time in forever. ???? Started at 240 in July. Around 206 on surgery day 10/27. These changes are happening so fast and everything feels weird and surreal. Maybe it takes a long time to find a new equilibrium.
  2. Great. I'm sensitive bc my husband had the surgery 4 years ago by an excellent surgeon who had a poor postop network. He's been gaining his weight back. Now that I've had these rules drilled into me, I see that he breaks them all. My group works to prepare us for the second year. The first is considered the "honeymoon" when we don't have much appetite.
  3. How much preparation did you get in the months beforehand? My dr made me "earn" the surgery with 4 months of changing food habits and exercise. Try the books written by the creator of this site, Alex Brecher. The big book of gastric sleeve, the big book of gastric bypass, etc. very helpful. My puréed diet starts after my two week postop dr visit. I'm looking forward to puréed chicken, tuna, hummus, eggs, Greek yogurt, applesauce, beans. The postop plan is very lo carb.
  4. It doesn't sound like you are getting strong instruction from your dr, nutritionist, support group. Good thing you have this group. Search "puréed stage" on this site and you will find many entries. I also found suggestions on Pinterest under Bariatric foods. The goal is to get protein first, fruits and veggies second, dairy third, and whole grains last. Plus take the vitamins and calcium. There are many books out there also.
  5. I would just add plain Unjury to regular chicken broth. I think I will need to add it to everything.
  6. I had my surgery on 10/27. Day 6 and I feel fairly normal except for the gassy tummy. Going to stop liquid Vicodin. At our support group, a rep from Bariatric Advantage came to describe their probiotic. I think it's worth a try. Tired of hearing my belly gurgle. It's very loud!!!!!! Can't imagine it gurgling at work.
  7. ????????????????????????????
  8. Probably from dehydration. I've been brushing my teeth a lot.
  9. Nectar grab N go or Nectar fruitilious. Or crystal light pure with unjury unsweetened in it. The nurse said I could switch to regular protein shakes now. I like the premier protein ones. What is two weeks out like?
  10. My nut is super strict and I hated her at first. But once I lost 40 lbs before surgery I came to respect her. She and the psychologist are more worried about our second year of this journey. The first year is supposedly the honeymoon when weight comes off easily. My husband was sleeved 4 years ago and has gained back 1/3 of his weight. He also breaks mist of my nuts rules, doesn't exercise, log his food or go to support groups. I want to do everything the opposite of his example!!! I want a lifetime of lightness!☺️
  11. I'm sick of sweet stuff! I'm looking forward to puréed beans, eggs, tuna fish. I feel like I can't get anything in and I'm going to end up back in the hospital for dehydration and malnutrition. It's becoming a morbid fear. I just took some liquid Vicodin so that it won't hurt to sip.
  12. Lisamarie. I think mashed potatoes are off limits for me forever. Wasted carb calories with no protein. My nutritionist would croak if I asked her that. Plus I want to respect my sleeve and not cheat it. Been thru too much. Why do you even want mashed potatoes?
  13. I feel disgustingly tight after more than two sips. I'm starting to hate it. True aversion therapy. Wish I didn't have to get liquids or protein at all.
  14. Yep. It's hard to take. Plus my liquid Vicodin tastes like cough syrup. I wonder if they prepare it like that so that we don't overuse it...????
  15. Weirdest to explain to friends that 85% of my stomach is gone. People here understand but people on the outside don't.
  16. I got morphine button in hospital and liquid Vicodin for home. Yell and scream until you get that too. It's standard of care.
  17. Congrats. Push your morphine button. Isn't it wild to be on the other side?!
  18. I agree. This part is rough. I've developed an extreme hatred of Isopure. Luckily I bought many types of clear protein ahead of time. These sips are so difficult. I'm praying to get in 30oz. The goal is 60 but that seems impossible.

    Surgery tomorrow 10/28

Great news. I had to switch from Isopure to Nektar clear protein drinks. Drinking the Isopure was torture. Do you feel like you were kicked in the guts? Do you have any liquid Vicodin? It works well but tastes like NyQuil. Hard to get down but necessary. Are you going home today?
  20. Good luck tomorrow. It's all surreal but goes pretty smoothly. My surgery was yesterday. It's takes courage and you'll be amazed that you actually went thru with it.
  21. I'm also having extreme problems getting sips in. Feels so tight and causes LOUD tummy and intestine rumbles. Thank goodness I don't have to be in public. Also scared of being undernourished and dehydrated. Luckily all of you do better each day.

The clear liquid diet was one of the worst parts. It will pass quickly.

My dr said that acid reflux can feel like hunger. He prescribed Prilosec.
