How much does the sleeve really stretch??
Heatherr replied to JillianMarie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For what it's worth, I am 18 months post op and my sleeve has stretched. I am ok with this though. I still can't eat a lot, but I feel like i eat more normal now if that makes sense. I can eat a normal sized piece of pizza. I can eat a sandwich if it's on toasted light bread. I can eat half a sandwich and a little Soup. I used to be able to eat only 4 shrimp, now I can eat 8 jumbo shrimp. I can almost finish the Protein and one side at a restaurant (petite meals not 12oz steaks) I can also eat 1 small hamburger. I still choose to stay on plan most nof the time but have lightened up because l'm still living life and can handle it. I don't fall off the wagon if I have something not so healthy and I tend to stick to protein and veggies because I mostly prefer them. I'll take shrimp over a fast food hamburger any day. I guess I just wanted to put it into perspective. Yes, my sleeve can fit more food, but is eating only one light sandwich for lunch a bad thing? I basically eat 3 times a day now instead of 6, so I'm probably eating the same amount of food but more at a time. This has made my ridiculously busy life easier. The glass is half full or half empty. It's up to you. -
I've donated 4 times since getting sleeved.

I've done it all, well, not true. I've never been to Yemen or climbed Mt. Everest, but I'll pass on doing those as a skinny me as well.

New study regarding pregnancy post WLS
Heatherr replied to bugwitch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
^^^^ Huh? I've never had a surgery where they didn't do a pregnancy test automatically right before for this reason. -
I've lost 90+% I'd have to get a calculator to be exact.

For those who have been sleeved for awhile.
Heatherr replied to Quickly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't order a beverage unless I'm really thirsty, and tehn i try to drink it before my meal comes. If I want wine, I order it, but I really only can sip it if there is food in my stomach because I get full too fast or I won't be able to eat as much. Last time we went out, I wanted a glass of wine, so I got an appetizer for my food. It's usually a shrimp cocktail, mussels/clams or a crab cake. -
...and for me it was about 170, but like I said, I have always had thighs. Now, I have the gaps I remember of yesteryear.

Need the honest truth, what are the negatives about the sleeve that you wish would have known beforehand.
Heatherr replied to bolivister's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never had the band, so I can't compare. I just get a full, tight feeling. I don't know what would happen if I continued to drink becuase I always stop. It wouldn't make sense to keep going. I usually just wait 5-10 minutes and then I can gulp down a few more ounces, wait 5-10 more minutes and gulp some more. I suppose it would make more sense to sip more during exercise, so I don't need to gulp so much at the end. I'm still learning too. -
My thighs stopped touching a long way before I reached near goal, and I have always had big thighs. I'm sure it depends on your stature and genetics as to when it will happen in your journey. Still, I have been glowing for onths every time I walk a long distance and here the silence of unrubbing thighs.

OK, my husband has seen me thin and thick, but if he has seen me poop on a table while giving birth and tearing from hole to hole (sorry for visual, but my pep talk needed it) and he still finds me attractive, you can get naked for your husband. He loves YOU, naked or not, but I'm willing to bet if you got naked for him for the first time ever, he'd love you a little more.

The only negative for me is that I can't guzzle water when I am very thirsty, like after exercising. I have to drink 4 ounces, wait 10 minutes, drink 4 ounces, wait 10 minutes...It's annoying. Other then that, I've had no complications. I did throw up once early out, but it's sensitive early on. I'd also get the spits if I ate too much, but these were minute long occurances and were due to me still being on a learning curve and figuring out what my stomach liked and disliked. None of that was an issue 6 months post op. I love my sleeve, LOVE! I feel and look so good and I feel normal. I go out to eat, enjoy life, still enjoy food, just a lot less of it, and I am rarely hungry. It's usually just an empty feeling. -
Waxing the kitty rated up there with hitting my toe with a hammer. I will never do it again. I'm 30 something and have never been to Europe. Lame, I know. I've had a good and busy life and have done just about everything legal and a few not-so-legal.

New position for us: He picked me up, pinned me against the wall rocked my world. New position for us: He picked me up and bounced me up and down on his thighs. Love this whole cave man thing with him picking me up and tossing me around. That wasn't going to happen when I was fat nomatter how comfortable I was with the extra padding.

Men have 50% more muscle than women. That alone says they will lose faster. Basic anatomy and physiology.

An inch per 10 lbs.....bahahahahha. Good luck, but yes, you'll gain some length.

Just use a mini and rub one out. You'll feel better, and your wounds won't be compromised. Easy peasy.

I was swallowing pills immediately post op. I've been able to take ibuprofin, btu i try to take just Tylenol. I will tell you that my periods are sooooo much less painful now and require a lot less medication to stay comfortable.

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)

Since we were talking biscuits and french loafs, I'm going to add "bread box" to the list. Carry on. -
I can't imagine getting annoyed over a term of endearment. I apologize to those I offend being an avid user of kidlets, hubby and hubster. I even sometimes break down the 5 kidlets into sub groups knows as the bigs and the littles.

What do you mean by excessive? Did I get bald spots? No. It did get quite thin and I was glad to have wavy hair to help it look fuller. I honestly didn't notice how bad it was until recently. Now that the regrowth is 3 inches long, you can see how much thicker the hair close to my scalp is compared with the rest. It now looks like I lost at least 30% of my hair. I have pictures. You wouldn't know by looking at them.

If your upper lips are dry, you dab a little gloss on them. If your lower lips are dry, you dab a little gloss on them. Simple. Nooooooooooooo!!!! Don't send the kids away. You go away and have some raunchy, dirty hotel sex. -
Anyone more then 2 years out?
Heatherr replied to freespirit63's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm only 1 1/2 years post, so I'm not sure this is worthy but you wanted more stories. I have a 40f bougie. I can eat more now, but not enough that would allow regain unless it was in french fries and ice cream. I am still losing but only about a pound per month. I am near goal, so I expect to stop losing soon. I can eat whatever I want, but I still stick to eating healthy. I had an oreo last week, first cookie in a very long time. I can eat 2 eggs and 2 pieces of turkey bacon for Breakfast. I am full off that and won't want to eat again for hours. For lunch I often have a piece of fish with veggies, salad with some grilled chicken or shrimp or half a sandwich or a cup of Soup. I can eat 6oz of Protein, but I tend to eat 4oz and have some veggies with it. It also changes. There are days I can eat a slice of thin crust pizza (minus the crust) and other days I can only eat half. Grapes fill me up fast, apples too. I won't regain. I just won't. I got into a size 8 last week, and by get into, I mean it fit. If I stay this size forever, I'm happy. If I lose another 10, I'm happy, but I won't ever get bigger than I am now. I still weigh daily and will adjust as needed. -
Interesting. I was a red wine gal pre surgery, but it just didn't agree with me post op. I switched to white and now prefer it as well.

Question for 2-3 year sleevers
Heatherr replied to Dee-Texas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only 1 1/2 years post op. I do sometimes feel hungry, but it's more of an empty pit feeling. I certainly never feel like I have to eat. I can eat more now, but it's still small in quantity and I am still losing, albeit slowly. I am 4lbs from goal. I don't feel like I will ever regret not getting GBP. I am still very easily able to control what I eat. I don't get why GBP would be a bigger benefit other than you would get that added malabsorption oomph in the beginning. That can also be bad if you're Vitamin deficient already. Also, my gf who had bypass still eats like crap. All. Day. Long. She'll gain it back. Either way, you have to stay on plan, not the surgery. -
