Why can't we drink when we eat?

And, just to add....Last week I drank while I ate for once and it was the first time I vomited. I had hardly eaten anything, maybe 2 ounces of chicken at most and had to go outside fast to get sick in the parking lot of a restaurant. I WONT be doing that again. I'm assuming it just filled up my pouch so much that the 2 ounces of chicken put me over the limit. I didn't even feel full. I just suddenly had to....expel.

WhAt is the typical weight loss

I say Pfffffttttt to the 65%-75% statistics. I've been sleeved for only 2 months and I'm 22 lbs away from losing 75% of my excess weight. I soooo plan on surpassing that statistic soon. I love this forum for the support and motivation.
  3. I got asked this a lot because I did lose well before surgery. I always said that the surgery is my insurance that I'll never get fat again.
  4. Awe, how stinking cute are you! :::belly rubs:::

You can't get rid of stretch marks, sorry.

    Stretch marks

I have a ton of stretch marks, but mine are all from the 5 pregnancies. <shrug> Can't get rid of em, so I'll just accept them.

    Frustrated with Doctors

Wow. ::shaking my head:: I'd be at your doctors goal 6 weeks post op by those standards. If that were the case, why have the surgery?

    Mushies?

Really? It's high in (good) fat, so high in calories, but avocado is very good for you. I wouldn't say NEVER eat it. I actually use avocado in place of mayonnaise when I make chicken salad. It gives it the creaminess without the saturated fat from mayo.

    Sept 24th check in

I had a good week with weight loss and lost about 6 pounds. I've lost 27lbs since surgery, 80 altogether and feel great. I was fitting into size 16 jeans last night - so thrilled about that.

    Mushies?

I ate ground meat by 2-3 weeks post. I had it in meat sauce that I made for pasta. I just added more sauce and put it through the blender so it was very fine. I also added some parmesan cheese to it. It was delicious and settled fine, though I was only able to eat 1-2 tablespoons. I was able to get all fluids and protein in in the first week. I suspect that those who are vomiting up liquids early out should probably not try ground beef until much later. Judge it on how you feel and what your NUT plan is.

    When to buy new clothes

I had to buy new clothes, but I'm being budget wise. I got jeans at a thrift store. It's not a true thrift as they don't take anything, just name brands in excellent condition. The jeans look new and cost me about $10/pair. Every time I go down a size, I get a few pair of jeans. This store also has a bargain basement where they sell bags of clothes for $10. I have gotten some bags in various sizes, so as I shrink, I usually have something in my closet I can wear. I try to buy things that will still work as they get baggy (aside from jeans) and I wear sweat pants and yoga pants (at home) because they can be worn for a few sizes. I agree that you have to buy yourself some new things every so often if you can afford it. It helps keep me motivated and feeling good.
  12. One word: shopping It may take a bit of losing before you get there, but shopping in regular stores for fashionable clothes is quite a nice reward or pick me up. Hell, I go shopping in my own closet trying on stuff that didn't fit last month but fit now and it makes me smile for hours. There isn't a better pick me up for me right now.
  13. <Cringe> I checked the date and the update is recent. Someone needs to take that down before someone is researching and gets the wrong information.

    I guess I'm at a stall

Yes!!! The same thing happened to me then suddenly this week I've lost 6 pounds in 5 days. As frustrating as it is, just try to be ok with it.
  15. What kind of turkey bacon has 6g or protein per slice? Ive tried 3 brands and they all have about 3g per slice. I may have to switch brands yet again.

Need Ideas, sick of same foods

crab cakes! scallops, meatloaf, tuna salad, taco without a shell, chicken with broccoli and cream cheese all blended together (yum) Use more cream cheese and less chicken at first until your stomach gets used to it. It acts like food lube when it gets warm and melts. Honestly, I almost just blended whatever the Protein part of the family meal was. I even tossed some eggplant parmesan into the blender one night. It was to die for after living on liquids for so long.
  17. Welcome tot he forums. Your weight loss is significant, congrats! I, too, was sleeved on the 2nd but have only lost about 25lbs so far. I say only with my tongue in cheek as I have no complaints. I put on clothes I haven't worn in 12 years today. I'm just glad they're still in style. <laugh>
  18. My stall seems to be over. Whew wee. I'm down 24lbs since surgery and 77lbs since starting this journey. I can eat anything and have been doing well with getting in all protein and fluids. I was working out often, but since starting school full time, I'm running out of hours in the day. I'm not too worried as it's mostly out of my hands. I know I'll work out more when I can. Mostly, I feel really really good.

3 weeks out and I have ran outof ideas!!!

I would take a scoop of ff refried Beans, put some salsa on it and sprinkle some cheese on it and bake it or nuke it until bubbly. I'd add some spices to it and top with a dollop of greek yogurt. It was sooooooo good. I'd also do this with some leftover chicken. I'd spice it up add some salsa and toss it in the magic bullet, top it with cheese and cook til bubbly. Tuna melt minus the bread. Warm it up with some pureed tomato and cheese - so good. Pot roast and gravy. Eggplant parmesan. I made it for hte family and tossed some in the magic bullet with some extra parmesan cheese for Protein. THAT one was flipping delicious and hit the spot, though not as high in protein. I made the family Pasta with meat sauce and just ate the meat sauce with some extra cheese in it. I pureed it and it was so yummy.
  21. I usually am making it in a single portion for myself so measuring it out isnt difficult, but sometimes I just estimate. I can look online and find how much protein is in half a cup of tuna salad. In the end, I'm not going to obsess. It doesn't matter much to me if I get 61g or 68g of protein, as long as I get at least 60.
  22. I have been able to get all protein in easily and am 5 weeks post op. My surgeon uses a larger bougie size (40) maybe that's why. Breakfast: 1 egg plus one egg white omelet with cheese or turkey bacon or ham etc. snack: 1/2c cottage cheese late lunch: 3 ounces of tilapia dinner: whatever the protein portion of family dinner is. If they have Pasta, I always have frozen tilapia, salmon and shrimp I can defrst in warm Water and pan saute in minutes. (3 ounces about) Sometimes on busy days it's tough to eat enough, so I'll add a Protein shake in, but I can get at least 60g or protein in without shakes most days. When I make strir fry for the family meal, I'll just eat the shrimp or chicken out of it and maybe 1-2 pieces of broccoli. I eat eggs most mornings. Today was 2 egg white sprinkled with some cheese Cottage cheese goes down easy for me and has 14g of protein so I eat that often as lunch or a snack. The school cafeteria actually has a lot of things I can eat if I'm stuck there. One day this week I ordered a tuna sandwich minus the bread, so I ended up with a scoop of tuna salad on some shredded lettuce with 2 slices of provolone. I couldn't quite eat all the tuna, but got plenty in. It was higher in fat, so I just left the fat out of the rest of the day.

What is your favorite Crock Pot Recipe?

I have a large family (5 kids) so I throw whole pieces of meat in - no real recipes for that, but I wanted to point out that ham comes out fabulous in the crock pot. Don't use the spiral sliced or more expensive cuts, they dry out. The cheap butt hams with Water added are perfect. They have enough fat and water to keep it moist, cooking all day, but it drains off. Pork loin with balsamic and dijon is tasty. Chuck roast (pot roast) with a jar of pepperoncinis (sliced) and the juice, a few cloves of garlic and some beef broth or a lipton onion soup mix. Cook all day and shred. Put on a bun and melt cheese on top. Serve french dip style with a side of the juice. I eat it minus the bun, but this is an easy crowd pleaser. bone in pork chops cooked with a jar of salsa, a can of black Beans and a can of corn, salt and pepper to taste. It is not half as good if you don't use the chops on the bone. The meat comes out tender and tasty, and the veggie mix makes a nice side dish. You can skip it if you're carb concious, but it still works as a family meal we can eat too. Put some veggies on the bottom (I use potatoes and carrots typically but any will work) Put a put a whole chicken on top and season to taste. Cook all day. I will often put onions or lemon peels inside the chicken cavity to help flavor it. Put a whole pork loin of beef roast in with a little bbq sauce and a bit of water. The water is so the bbq sauce doesn't burn, but you wont need much. Cook all day and shred for bbq pulled pork or pulled beef. I let the family add more sauce on theirs, but I don't use much in the crock pot, just a little for flavoring the meat, so it's not carb heavy. You can add a little liquid smoke (a little goes a long way) for that bbq flavor as well.
  24. It seems most surgeons have a size that they use as their standard, but I suppose you could ask.
