Sooo pretty. Congrats on a job well done.

I'm not very hairy at all and was only shaving my legs twice a year pre surgery, but I do seem to have less hair on other areas.

I still love eating out. I went to lunch this week and ordered the cajun chicken burger without the bun. It came with soup and salad bar. The soup was nothing special for my diet, so I skipped it, but I had some salad and ate 2/3 of the spicey chicken breast. It was delicious. The week before I went to Texas Roadhouse. I always get the petite sirloin, salad and a side of veggies. I can eat about half of the meal. (Unless I get the sweet potato - they're huge and I usually only have a couple bites) Last month my 10yo daughter and I shared an adult portion of grilled shrimp. She ate the rice, I ate the vegetable and we split the shrimp. Food is still delicious to me and I still enjoy eating out. I just order differently and stay on my diet.

I had that problem. After having 5 vaginal births, it was getting significant in the last years and I was leaking throughout the day as well. It has gotten 90% better since losing weight.

I don't think that is true otherwise men who lose 200 pounds would gain 6 inches. There are only so many inches there to begin with. But, hey, no worries. You get extra inches on your manhood and we get extra inches in boob sag. You got the better end of the deal there.

Get a ring guard thingy. It's a band they attach to the inside of your ring to make it smaller. It's rather inexpensive and it saves you from constant resizing until you get to your maintenance weight. -
Tips suggestions I need to rev up the loss!!

GL! I'm 2 1/2 months post and can't seem to lose more than 10lbs a month no matter what I do. I'm ok with that though. I hope you can find something that works for you, but have fun either way. -
I hadn't lost anything in 10 days then BAM! 3 pounds gone overnight. That is typical when I don't lose for a while.

Almonds are high in protein and calories. They would help you add some in and still be on your diet. cheese is a good way as well.

I can tolerate salad fine and have been since about 4 weeks out, but it's usually just a little bit because I'm full from protein.

Help!! What elese can I eat?
Heatherr replied to HappyFace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Deli meat is on some mushy lists. Really, I just ate what the family ate (assuming it was diet friendly) and blended it in the magic bullet. Use your fork to smash up the chili. Try some ricotta cheese with some seasonings, sauce and parm or mozz cheese on top, heat until bubbly. Baked sweet potatoes are way better for you than white potatoes. Squash mashes up nicely too, and again, is way better than white potatoes. Black bean soup is delicious in the mushy stage and so filling. Veggie burgers are typically very soft and mushy. French onion soup is good, but watch the sodium content. Fore-go the croutons and add parmesan cheese instead of the ooey gooey cheese that will likely not feel good on your new tummy. I liked eggs, but some had difficulty with them early out. Best thing is to try it slow. I did find that by adding processed American cheese to the eggs, they went down easier. The American cheese melts to a liquid and makes the eggs super moist. They slide down very easy that way. Egg salad was good at this stage too. HTH with ideas. GL. -
The foot stretches are good, but don't forget that the foot tendons and muscles got tight because the back of your leg muscles were tight first. Be sure to stretch all the way up. I did it several times a day, so they would remain stretched. It only takes a few minutes, so it's not difficult to do. I'd actually do it while I worked. If you keep doing this, you may find some relief within 2 weeks, but remember, the plantar faciitis will take a little time to heal. Staying stretched and wearing good shoes just helps it from reoccurring. Check out the hamstring stretch (very important) http://www.halhigdon.com/15Ktraining/Stretch.htm http://www.halhigdon.com/15Ktraining/Stretch.htm These work! Just remember it may take some time.

Getting protein from food
Heatherr replied to dramagirl28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I want to add..... The thing with not snacking is good if you can eat enough during meals. Early post op, you may need to eat Snacks to get enough Protein in. You don't want to starve yourself. I know every barix group has their own ideas with this, but I prefer to not snack because I am just too busy to eat 6 times a day. I am able to eat enough at meals though. If I weren't, I'd be snacking to get it in. -
Getting protein from food
Heatherr replied to dramagirl28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 months post and have been getting all of my Protein from food for at least a month, but I was on real food faster than most it seems. My goal is at least 60gm of protein per day and I do it like this: Breakfast: 1 egg plus 1 egg white with cheese or 2 pieces of turkey bacon (10-15gm of protein depending on how I eat it) Lunch: a handful of salad with 2-3 ounces of grilled chicken (16-25gm of protein) Dinner: 3 ounces of whatever protein the family is having and some veggies (25ish gm of protein) Snack: whatever it is will usually put me over the top for protein whether it's cottage cheese (14gm protein) or soy nuts (12gm protein) or light string cheese (6-8gm protein) I can eat enough at meals to not even need or want a snack, but I do eat one if I need extra protein that day. I ALWAYS have frozen tilapia and salmon filets and frozen shrimp in the freezer in single serving sizes. They defrost in warm Water in 5 minutes and can be cooked stove top in a fry pan in 3 minutes. Those are my go to back ups. That and cottage cheese. All are packed with protein, go down easily and are readily available. I could probably eat 5 ounces of tilapia at a time, but the filets come in 3 ounce servings, so I have just one. I highly recommend it for early post op. It just settles well and is easy to eat early out. -
I've had plantar faciitis twice and heeled it on my own both times, though it does take diligence and religious care. I'm not a doctor, but if it were me, I'd scrap the steroids and try icing, shoes and STRETCHING first. Seriously, the stretching works!!!! You have to be so so so diligent about it and allow time for healing, but it worked TWICE for me. And now that I am not so big, it's a non issue. This is after suffering from it for months and months. I was crippled in the mornings until my feet "warmed" up as I use to call it. Anyways, in case you're interested: Stretch stretch and stretch some more the back of your legs. Focus on your ham strings, but do all the muscle groups. When these muscles get tight, the tendons and ligaments get tight and pull. This is where you get the heal pain from which can eventually lead to a bone spur. Wear good shoes with arch support as well. Doing this will cause relief rather qucikly but may still take months to heal the damage done, but it does work. I'd at least try this since it's nearly free and had no side effects. It's never bad to stretch anyways, right? GL, hun!

Need to vent - lack of weight loss
Heatherr replied to Shalon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is adjusting to eating so little. It will get better very soon. Stalls happen. Try to focus on the good when going through these phases and not on the numbers on the scale. I may only be 2 months post op, but I have been on the post op "diet" for months and losing for months. I can very much attest to the fact that even when the scale numbers are not going down, your body is. Measure your inches with a tape measure and you'll see. I bet your clothes start feeling looser and looser even if the numbers are staying the same. -
When did you buy new bras?? - Ladies
Heatherr replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, and I've lost over 80 pounds and am only 1 bra size smaller, though they were tight before, so maybe I've actually gone down 2 sizes. -
When did you buy new bras?? - Ladies
Heatherr replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought them when I needed them, same with panties. You can fudge the outerwear and shirts with sizing. You can wear pants with a belt and bag, but the under garments need to fit or they don't serve their purpose. For what it's worth, now that I am back down to a DD, I can find so many more bras and have had great luck with $15 bras from Target. Smaller bewbies can get away with cheaper bras. -
I've been losing an average of 3 lbs per week, but I never had that huge initial loss because I had lost over 50 lbs pre op and was at a lower weight on DOS. Those who weigh 400lbs tend to lose in much bigger numbers than those who started at 225 lbs.

when does eating start feeling normal again?
Heatherr replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What she said ^^^^^ I find that poultry is dry and tougher to digest than white fish for example. Start slow with the real foods. Try turkey OR brussel sprouts, not both at once, and leafy veggies can be tough for a lot of people early out. -
Post-op week 5 & need food options
Heatherr replied to LovelyLyric's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tilapia is so soft and goes down really easily for me. I've been loving stir fry that I make saucy. The sauce helps lube the protein so it settles well. Eggplant parmesan was devine. Soup! I don't know, sorry. I was able to eat mostly anything by 5 weeks, but I remember those settling well and tasting really good to me. -
How long do you stay full after a meal?
Heatherr replied to countrye's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
If I eat a good meal, it can be hours before I feel like I need to eat again. I just had beef teriyaki (leftovers) for lunch. I ate mostly just beef and am sure I won't be hungry for at least 4 hours, maybe more like 6. If I have a piece of tilapia, I may get hungry after 3 hours. -
I bring sliced lunch meat with me often when I'm on the go. How about just leftover meat? I'm thinking some leftover chicken on toothpicks or a wooden skewer with some kind of dip to help moisten it since it's so dry when its served cold. Have you tried edemame? (soy nuts) I have a bag of those in my school bag when I remember. It's such an easy snack and so portable. Almonds work well too and I think they have something like 14g of Protein per serving. Along the lines of pepperoni crisps, the same can be done with salami. Hard boiled egg. theworldaccordingtoeggface web site has some recipes for extra high protein, low carb mini muffins. They seem like they'd be easy to pack up and go. Cold shrimp.
