Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
Heatherr replied to Rosikah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did everything I could to prevent it, but int he end I lost a lot of hair from 2-5 months post op. Then one day, it just stopped falling out. I now have lots of regrowth now, and it never got so bad that I felt self concious about it, but it was noticeably thinner to me. -
So pretty! I love your shoes you wore with the black dress. Hot!

I'm still pre op, but I have been losing steadily and now itch all. the. time. It's not local but all over and it doesn't matter how much oil or moisturizer I use, I am always itchy. When I was pregnant I had cholestasis, where bile salts build up in your blood and come out through the skin, thus causing extreme itching. There is no rash or anything visible and now I'm wondering if there is a reason or cause from weight loss that would cause the body to build up bile salts. Does anyone else itch all the time or know what could be causing this?

I have yet to eat where I couldn't find something on the menu that was suitable. What kind of restaurant is that? Yeah, ditch the friend.

Was Anyone Healthy But Just Fat?
Heatherr replied to missmeow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can eat a lot more than 2-4oz. I actually eat enough to feel normal. There is nothing wrong with one small plate of food at a buffet. In fact, I just ate a 2 egg white omelet with half a slice of cheese and 2 pieces of turkey bacon. My plate was full and my tummy is too. And all that for only 137 calories. How can I complain? -
Was Anyone Healthy But Just Fat?

Mememememe! I never lost 30lbs in one month. I'm only losing 5-8lbs a month now. There is some longer term data and all of it looks very promising. The surgery is not new. They've been doing it for decades as the first part of the duodenal switch and for cancer and ulcer patients. I never had mobility issues either. I've always been active. Nothing has changed in my life except that I eat less and look great. -

Fried Foods And Hot Wings Forbidden Forever?
Heatherr replied to Bcole's topic in Food and Nutrition
I've had wings here and there. It's not really diet friendly, but I only eat 2-3 of them so I can still fit them in my daily plan. -
My favorites I got at Kmart on the discount table - think they were Joe Boxers. I have them in all sizes and I think they had them in 2x and 3x as well. I also really like the ones hubby got me from Aeropostale and Rue 21 now that I am smaller, but they're not any more or less comfortable now that I'm smaller. Honest. And, because they have less fabric, it's only hip size that matters, really. I've found that thong panties last through more stages of weight loss which could SAVE you money in the long run. Also, as my jeans get bigger and fall off my bum, I at least feel confident that I'll be sporting cute panties. I kid! Sorta kinda.

<shrug> I find stretchy to thongs to stay in place best for me. There isn't any fabric to be pulled down or out of place, and I can get them rather inexpensively almost anywhere. Don't knock em until you try em.

Explain why we need so much water. I am bad about drinking enough, but don't say because of dehydration because I would have been dehydrated long ago.

I order an appetizer sometimes. Other times hubby and I will both order the petite meal. His won't fill him up, but he eats half of mine too and we're both satisfies. Texas Roadhouse has a 6oz sirloin meal for $7.99 from 4-6pm. It's so tender you could cut it with a fork. We both order that and I get a salad and veggie as my sides. I usually only eat 1/4 of the salad and a couple bites of veggie and about half the steak, he eats the rest. We leave there having a delicious filling steak dinner with all the fixings for under $20. Tough to beat. Also, we have 5 children. My 10yo daughter doesn't always want what's on the children's menu, but is petite and can't eat an adult portion, but she likes the healthier adult food. We'll often get a chicken or shrimp meal and share it. Another restaurant we go to has a lot of add ons - add on 1/2lb crab, add on 4oz of shrimp or scallops to any meal for $4-$5 etc. My hubby will often get a meal and then get an add on for me and I'll get a cup soup. I usually can't finish, but end up with a delicious meal of soup and seafood for under $8. Tough to beat. I find eating out easy, really, and that's while staying true to my diet. I do suggest remembering to get the dressings on the side, so you can take leftover salad home.

Clueless About Diet After Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
Heatherr replied to livelaughloveme's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Everyone will be different at this stage because you all have different sized stomachs and swelling will vary from person to person. You'll feel restriction likely with every bite, so take it easy. Things I loved: scrambled eggs made with american cheese to make the eggs moist. Refried Beans with cheese, Soups, pulverized egg, tuna and chicken salad...meaning no big chunks. My family had Pasta with meat sauce for dinner so I took some of the meat sauce, mushed it with a fork and added some parm cheese....sooo good. when they had tacos, I ate some of the meat with cheese and a bit of guacamole. Soft white fish mashed with a fork was good too. I had some mashed squash and sweet potatoes that were delish. I know many swear by mashed taters, but I did low carb and stayed away. One night I made egg plant parm for the family and it smelled so good that I put some in the magic bullet for me. It was mush, but the taste....omg, so good. I did some crock pot meals for the family as well and just mashed mine up. Pot roast, gravy and carrots in the magic bullet tasted like heaven even if I could only eat a miniscule amount. HTH -
Need Volunteers To Give Their Opinion

OOO, this sounds fun, count me in! -
Yes, update, plz!

It's funny how advice varies so much. My doctors had us on real food within a week (soft) and regular food after 3 weeks.

Gawd, I really need to update my picture. My face looks so fat in that pic. Can we say lazy? Sorry to hijack your thread, I just think I vomited in my mouth when my big ol head popped on the screen after I hit send. Oy.

Errr, I believe the stomach is more comparable to a banana than an egg. An egg maybe for bypass patients? Also, men tend to be able to eat more as they are typically taller than women, so their stomachs are naturally a little longer. I can eat 4 ounces of seafood and a little veggie. That's a fairly normal meal for me. Just measure, so you don't risk stretching your stomach. It's normal for capacity to increase as swelling goes down. Disclaimer: This is not medical advice, just things I've learned from reading the forums. HTH!

If we do McD's I just get a side of grilled chicken and maybe a side salad. They only charge me $1.30 for a piece of grilled chicken and I get the sweet chili sauce for dipping. Yum. The thought of KFC scares me though.

Beer wasn't a great experience. The fizz...oy. Wine is fine, though I used to prefer reds and now have an aversion to them. I don't do mixed drinks because of the juice being too sweet or the mixers being fizzy and not sitting well.

I've only gone down one size, from a ddd to a dd, but I think my normal weight breasts are a 36D.

OK, I stand corrected. ^^^^This is in the running for best post I read all day. Nothing wrong with being noticed, hun. It makes me feel sexier and adds to the excitement when I see my hubby.
