    Food Journal

I am using myfitnesspal.com You plug in the food whether its a name brand or supermarket brand and 99% of the time, it is in the database. It calculates calories, Protein, carbs & fat. I track my exercise also. You can add to the database if you come across a food that is not in there and you can add actual recipes. I love it. I track on my ipad, iphone and my Mac!

    WELCOME Gym Rats!!!

Hi everyone! I am having my revision from band to VSG on 6/17 and I am stressing about the downtime from the gym afterward. My doctor told me that I could walk immediately, but hold off on aerobics until 3 weeks and weights 4 weeks. Abs will have to wait for 6-8 weeks depending on how I heal. My normal routine is 4-5 days at the gym for 1 to 2 hours each time. I generally do classes such as spin, cardio blast, step & sculpting. I am excited that I found this group!
  8. I am having my band out/revision to sleeve on the 17...day after you. I hope you feel better way before than! Why did your doc choose to do 2 separate operations? How long was your band in? Mine is only 15 months old so maybe its a scar tissue thing if yours was in longer? In any event, you are 1/2 way home! Go you!
  9. Wow...a week ago I made the decision to have my band removed and found out today my doctor can do it on 6/17. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I've had my band for 14 months and while I have lost most of my weight, I have 10 lbs to go to get to goal, my body seems to not like fills and I've had as many unfills as fills during this time. My doctor has told me many times that he doesnt think the band is for me in the long run and believes the VSG is the way to go. I hope he is right and judging on what I've read, he seems to be!
  10. June 17 for me! I have a Lapband and will be having revision surgery on June 17th! I am so excited. Fortunately, I do not have to do a pre-op diet. My doctor just wants me to do low carb 3 days prior to surgery. I have lost 53 lbs with my band and only have 15 lbs to get to goal but I've had so many problems with my band that we just decided to be proactive and take it out and do this before I have a major problem. So, I will be joining you all in June! Good luck to us!
  11. Wow, I hope for your sake you are pre-op! If you are post-op, you are setting yourself up for major problems. You really need to follow this "diet" to a T until your stomach heals. There is a reason for the liquid diets. I am so fortunate in that my husband was so supportive of me when I was banded and he would never have let me deviate from my post-op instructions. I am counting on him being this supportive this time with the revision too. In any event, what is done, is done. Starting right now, just follow your doctors advice and hopefully you will be fine.
  12. Happy Tuesday to you Miss Barb! Welcome to ONEderland! Its funny how all of our post-op diets are different. When I have my surgery, I will be on Clear Liquids for 3 days, full liquids for 4 days and mushies from the 2nd week to the 4th week. I am planning on eating: meatloaf w/ff gravy & veggies meatballs with sauce (ground chicken and turkey work well for meatballs and meat loaf) cottage cheese tuna/chicken salad crustless quiche scrambled eggs omelets among other things. Eggface has so many great recipes that are good for pureeing that I will also be trying.
  13. Thank you so much for these encouraging words! Just one question....why will maintenance be tricky? I was worried about the bougie size so I am happy to know its not much larger at all! I was thinking "this is it...I dont want to end up with a sleeve thats too big and not be able to lose and maintain this weight".
  14. I am hoping that because I've only had my band for 15 months, scar tissue won't be an issue. I'm only looking to lose another 15 lbs or so and than to keep it off! Good luck to us both!
  15. I will say a prayer for you but I know you won't need it! I had my lap band surgery in MX in 2010 but I am having my revision to sleeve here in FL. I had such a good experience in MX and was amazed at the hospital/doctor but didn't want the hassle of traveling with this surgery as I live in FL and it took forever to get to TJ. Anyway, good luck and let us know how you make out. I am scheduled for 6/17!

    Surgery Tommorow!!

Gas-ex strips worked fine when I had my band surgery and of course, walking. I hope this works with my VSG surgery too! Glad you are doing so good!
  17. I am so happy you are home and starting to feel better!

    Calling all June sleevers

i am having my band taken out on 6/17 and revision to VSG the same day! I just want it done already!
  19. I am so sorry you are feeling so bad! I am having my Band to sleeve surgery on 6/17 with Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian FL. If you dont mind my asking, what size Bougie did Dr. Kim use? Feel better!
  20. I am getting my band removed on 6/17 and revised to a sleeve during the same surgery. I do not have to do the liquid diet as my doctor does not require it as I have a BMI of 26. How come you have to have the two surgeries?
  21. My dr told me he uses a size 40f bougie for all his patients and I guess that is a little bigger than most. I asked him why a 40 and not a 32-36 which seems to be more common and he responded that the difference in size is minimal but the chances for complications were much, much less with a 40f. I have spoken to many of his patients and others here and I am confident in his decision. I just want to get it overwith already
  22. I am scheduled for 6/17 to have my band removed and revision to VSG. I am only about 15 lbs from my goal and I'm wondering, did any of you who only had a little to lose when being revised, have issues with hair loss? I lost so much hair from about months 4 through 8 with my band and that was pretty much during the time I lost most of my weight. I am praying that I dont have to go through that again! Thanks in advance!
  23. From your lips to Gods ears! Hitting my goal so soon after surgery would be so sweet after the hell the band has put me through! I originally thought it would be silly getting VSG this close to goal and I am so happy I've made the decision. I just want to do it now! I feel like the girl who turned into a blueberry in the movie Willie Wonka "I want it now Daddy, I want it now!" Oompa, oompa!

    Calling all Exercise Buddies!

I am a 5 day a week at the gym girl and this was a major question I had for my doc when I made the decision to have band removed and revised to sleeve. He wants me walking from day 1 and then aerobics (cardio classes, spinning) at 3 weeks and than I can resume strength training, abs included at 4-5 weeks post-op depending on how I feel. I became an exercise fanatic during this past year with my band and I swear, that is the only reason I've lost any weight! Good luck.
